Honest immigration question
retarius replied to Can samui's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
My observations are as follows: there are official rules, BUT, the leaders of each office has the ability to require more or less documentation and to set up procedures at his office as he sees fit. In my experience Thais have little or no interest in how to do things better if the source of the information comes from outside. My wife does not believe me after 18 years, but will believe anything a Thai tramp tells her. I'm sure bring or appointing a semi skilled aficionado to update requirements would not be well received as it would imply there was something imperfect about the way they go about things. My file must be inches think at the IO given all the paper copies of the same information repeated annually in a giant waste of time for the vast majority of folk. -
Trump wins Iowa caucuses, cementing frontrunner status in 2024 race

I can see by the tone of this page that I will have to send Trump an extra large donation this year too help with the hatred and lies being told about him by so many posters to this forum. -

It imprisons, brings lawsuits and tries to cancel legitimate opposition. DOJ, FBI CIA and IRS are politicised and act in the interests of Biden and Democrats instead of being impartial, they prosecute opponents and ignore crimes and misdemeanours of Democrats.....you want an example? What about Hunter Biden's laptop that emerged just before the 2020 election and was officially dismissed by the FBI, in a now well publicised conspiracy, as Russian disinformation....this put the story to sleep, instead of it becoming a major issue in the election which I'm sure you will have to agree, did would not have helped Biden win. Yes it's a banana republic all right, with the populations dumbed down and kept ignorant by TV and media which is all all establishment propaganda. -

Who could replace Biden ?
retarius replied to nobodysfriend's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Blinken? That lying, warmongering, mealy-mouthed, so-called diplomat? I don't think so. Kamala the Laughing Hyena, I don't think so. People talk about Newsom, but far from making California Great Again he is killing it off. Many more people are leaving the state than coming to it. Soon, like Illinois, this exodus will start hitting the local tax base. Who else? Just a bunch of woke losers that's all. They could exhume Hillary Hillary and give her another losing run out. Trump's the man I hope, America has no chance without Trump. Biden has driven it into the ground. -

But Trump's not a hypocrite. He tells it like he thinks it is or should be. Every other politician is like a modern day Pharisee. Take Bill Clinton, he shagged Monica and the country was supposed to be outraged apparently, not that it was anyway illegal. He never lost support however because he was never hypocritical, never on a soap box preaching how saintly he was, unlike George Bush before him, of GWB after him. -

Biden is a very weak candidate, physically, mentally and morally. His VP pick needs to be very strong indeed if he is to carry the day, as a lot of voters question whether he can complete another term. If he sticks with the current VP and laughing hyena, Harris, he is doomed. -

Great, great result....Vivek has dropped out of the race apparently. I have been worried about warmonger Haley in the event that Trump doesn't get through his legal quagmire, but she got beaten by De Santis, thank god. It's all over now bar the shouting, apart of course from some 11th hour scandal involving Trump and a minor. Bring him back, please God, save us from the evil Genocide Joe Biden. -

Why Are the Chinese so very Proud of Their Culture?
retarius replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Best thing about the culture is respect for the elderly. -
I think Trump stands out as the only hope for the US, for democracy and for politics. He is actually the only one (ever in the news) that is different from the Sunak, the Macrons and the Scholzs, the Haleys, and the Bidens. I will certainly vote for him if he keeps promising to cut all aid to Ukraine and not start any more wars. War is the ultimate evil and starting wars, as the US does, is the hallmark of an evil Empire. Do I believe him on all things, no, of course not, he tells lies, and may well be lying, plus he has to contend with deep state. If he is elected and starts an anti-war policy, I suspect he will be killed by the CIA. Funnily enough, although he sails close to the wind, I'm personally convinced that he is much more honest than any politician in America and less likely to line his own pockets. I'm also probably one of only a few people on these boards ever to have worked with Trump, although admittedly it was a long time ago in 1992.

Does using a VPN impact online banking?
retarius replied to BananaBandit's topic in IT and Computers
Thanks, I'll try a VPN again. I'll try the Oregon service. I don't really understand how VPNs work. I used a pay service in Pattaya, they offered a menu of different cities around the world where you could appear to be logging on from... Calling Vanguard on US time is a pain. I had to stop using their brokerage services and now only use 401K account....like you I've had long standing accounts (since 1985) and I'm a 'Flagship' customer, and, I thought, supposed to get better service. -
Can i keep my family in home country from knowing if i die?
retarius replied to Pouatchee's topic in General Topics
As I understand it, if a foreigner dies here, then the relevant embassy is informed. However, unless they know who your ex-family are and their contact details, then how can they tell them. Just make sure you have no records lying around with their names and contact details. The power the Canadian Embassy has over your Thai family, is that they can refuse to grant approval for a local burial/cremation. But in they genuinely have no contact details and don't know the names, then what can the Embassy do? -

Of course the genocide hasn't happened yet. The purpose of SA;'s highly commendable action at ICC is to prevent a genocide. Anyone killing more civilians and women and children than Hamas fighter is pursuing a genocide. In this day and age with targeted munitions there is no reason at all for such civilian casualties. Look at the ratio of civilian to 'enemy' deaths in Gaza versus Ukraine. There are, relatively speaking, very few civilian casualties in Ukraine compared to military deaths. Israeli policy of killing hundreds of women and children in a school, hospital or church, if they "think" a some Hamas fighters may be there, is the root cause. And this is not defence, it is attempted genocide.

I wonder what you mean about WW3. It is already going on with NATO vs Russia, but people usually mean a nuclear war. So it's not imminent, it has already happened, NATO just want to use Ukrainians as cannon fodder, not their own soldiers. A nuclear war looks much less likely in my opinion. Such events are in the future and are unknowable, as we only have our beliefs to imagine the future. I think an all out nuclear war is highly unlikely, but I think that the use of nukes weapons is quite likely indeed, and I think Russia will use them in Ukraine or against some or other NATO countries. My reasoning is that the US does not have any sort of good record of fulfilling treaty obligations, be they arms control or defence obligations. If they will not send their troops their troops to die for the sake of defending another country, why would US leaders accept MAD (mutually assured destruction) for the sake of say, Estonia or Poland? My belief is that the US will leave Europe hanging and will not activate its nukes in the event of a tactical nuke attack by Russia, and maybe not even for a strategic nuke attack on a major centre, like London (most likely target) or Paris. I think the US will look after its own people, it's own self interest and not risk nukes falling on DC, NYC etc. So if there were a major Russian attack, unless the US thought it could get a first strike advantage on Russia and take out its nuclear capability thereby not risking a major Russian launch of 1000 or so warheads, I think it would tell Europe to deal with its own problems. So yes, I see WW3 with conventional arms, I don't see a nuclear holocaust. Having said that, I think this is the situation with Mr Putin in charge, ion he loses the election (highly unlikely), gets sick and dies (medium/low likely), or is replaced in a coup (medium/ low likely) OR Russia territory is directly threatened by NATO troops and Putin's personal position becomes difficult, if a hawk like Medvedev comes in, then all bets are off.
