  2. A bit off topic, but I hate to use my car to go around Pattaya City. Today we had to meet someone on Sukhumvit at 4:30pm. If we had used our car we would have been at least 30 min late, because it was gridlocked (what is new) (leave earlier would be a solution, but instead we used our motor bike.)

  3. Sorry if this off topic. wai.gif

But I was just wondering how this closing of CW affects the time needed for getting a new extension based on Marriage. Aren't all the documents from the Immigration offices send to CW for decision making ? Fortunately I still have around 4 months left so I hope by then the situation has returned to normal.

    Thanks

Bump or am I wrong in thinking that the extensions of stay applications are send to CW?

  4. This may be very basic, but, do you actually need the Set Top Box? I have now been onto the website and see that one can purchase a subscription separate to the purchase of a box. If the box is not required can you inform me as to what benefits a box will bring to the table. Thanks!

Nope (again) you don't need the box, you could for example install the program on your laptop put it next (or near) your TV and control the program with a wireless mouse from your sofa (for example)

I for example stream it from my PC (wireless) to my Apple TV's (which are connected) to my TV's

    Edit: // Added Ps:

Ps: The advantage from the box would be that you don't tie up a PC while watching TV. So you could use the PC to "work" and watch UKTV via the Android Box connected to your TV. Personally I like the PC version better, as I feel that I have more control but YMMV ;)

  5. Also are these boxes just a plug in and play or are they required to be set up in some way with app installations?

Nope when you buy a box from them, you only have to plugin the Ethernet cable in your router / modem (and the box of course) and a HDMI cable from the box to your TV. So it's plug and play.

  6. You are lucky that it works for you, I think a lot of people who are on crappy internet (in hotels or condos or wherever) are more then willing to pay the 600 Thb to have a good viewing experience.

Your solution doesn't work for everyone !

Ps: That picture I saw before in a topic about televisions (that isn't from yesterdays Top Gear thumbsup.gif

  7. <snip>

AND I paid for the month before I saw the notice that they had changed so I guess thats money gone as Thai Expat are now sending me an invoice!

Just email them and ask what is wrong.

The old email (UKTV one) still works and if not PM me and I will give you the ExpatTV email address (if you don't have that one already wink.png )

  8. My heart also goes out to the Bus Driver who has to live with this for the rest of his life !!

Do you really think the bus driver will give a shit. He'll probably be drinking Hong Thong laughing about it with his mates rather than having recurring nightmares for the rest of his life. In all honesty i find compassion in Thais is non existent. They all appear to have a strange tendancy to enjoy seeing horrific things especially road accidents. Have you never noticed how they all like to stop and stare. Not to help , just to stare. In fact anything regarding injury or death seems to draw them like flies round shit.

I agree with most what you are saying, but not with "I find compassion in Thais is non existent".

It's like saying: All people from <Insert Country here> are this or All people from <insert Country here> are that.

I guess the reason why they are not willing to help, is because of that they think there (maybe) consequences afterwards. Be a good Samaritan first and get sued later

  9. @janderton.

Not wanting to turn this into a discussion about carrying your passport and legality of not carrying it, but I have been living here in Thailand for quiet a few years already and I only carried my passport while being in transit, for example Pattaya to BKK or upcountry. While in Pattaya I never ever carried my passport with me except if going to immigration and I never got asked by the police for my passport. They only asked me for my driving license when driving a vehicle.
