  1. Be warned Sophon are tapping into these cables in a back door deal. Eventually you will be shut out permenantly and struggle to get any money back you paid in advance for Sophon Broadband.

Which cables are they tapping into according to you ? BTV?

  2. I got some emails from friends asking me if they still can surf the web or send emails after April 8th. They really thought that the PC stops working after that date. But chicog is right, it will be unsafe to use and it will have more holes in it then a Swiss cheese ;)

  3. ^ Good idea, however, I don't think that it's wise. What if the customs here in Thailand opens it and find a Phone where on the customs declaration it states it's a "Remote Control for the TV. "

Come to think of it. my phone can control my TV (but that's another story) thumbsup.gif

  4. ^ it could also be a combination of add-ons. For example my GPS add-on (needed for communication with my GPS and some websites) and my download manager add-on refuse to work together. So because I don't need the GPS add-on that much I just created a separate Firefox profile which will only start that specific add-on, and in the other profiles this add-on is disabled.

To create separate profiles, just look at the 2nd link in my original post

  5. Sorry if this off topic. wai.gif

But I was just wondering how this closing of CW affects the time needed for getting a new extension based on Marriage. Aren't all the documents from the Immigration offices send to CW for decision making ? Fortunately I still have around 4 months left so I hope by then the situation has returned to normal.

    Thanks

I did see a queue for reporting for marriage/spouse yesterday at Major Hollywood but I was there for different reasons so didn't investigate further. Maybe best to check it out soon prior to your four months expiring.

Thanks for this, but I am reporting / getting my extension here in Pattaya.

As you maybe know, if you have a extension based on marriage, a copy of the paperwork is send to BKK for approval (unlike retirement, which is handled by the local office) and because CW is closed, I was just wondering if there is a major delay in approvals or not.

  7. A bit off topic, but I hate to use my car to go around Pattaya City. Today we had to meet someone on Sukhumvit at 4:30pm. If we had used our car we would have been at least 30 min late, because it was gridlocked (what is new) (leave earlier would be a solution, but instead we used our motor bike.)

Bump or am I wrong in thinking that the extensions of stay applications are send to CW?

  9. This may be very basic, but, do you actually need the Set Top Box? I have now been onto the website and see that one can purchase a subscription separate to the purchase of a box. If the box is not required can you inform me as to what benefits a box will bring to the table. Thanks!

Nope (again) you don't need the box, you could for example install the program on your laptop put it next (or near) your TV and control the program with a wireless mouse from your sofa (for example)

I for example stream it from my PC (wireless) to my Apple TV's (which are connected) to my TV's

    Edit: // Added Ps:

Ps: The advantage from the box would be that you don't tie up a PC while watching TV. So you could use the PC to "work" and watch UKTV via the Android Box connected to your TV. Personally I like the PC version better, as I feel that I have more control but YMMV ;)

  10. Also are these boxes just a plug in and play or are they required to be set up in some way with app installations?

Nope when you buy a box from them, you only have to plugin the Ethernet cable in your router / modem (and the box of course) and a HDMI cable from the box to your TV. So it's plug and play.
