  1. It's a sham policy. It's racist. It's designed to prevent immigrant workers brought in as cheap labor by Thais to cut corners from having a baby entitled to Thai citizenship by birth in Thailand. As one poster pointed out, this is similar in concept to a "purification" of the race policy. The UN should look in to this.

While I am not 100% sure I am reasonably sure just being born in Thailand does not get a kid Thai citizenship unless at least 1 parent is Thai. I hope Thailand is not as silly as the USA is on this. Kids born are the nationality of one or both parents if born in Thailand. If anyone thinks different please give a link to the Thai law on this.

  2. [As for general expenses, Thailand is no longer cheap (if you actually want to 'live' and not exist that is) I cannot get by on less than 120k a month.

Oh no....here we go again...do you realise what you have done my son ?.....20 hail marys and wash your mouth out with soap right now whistling.gif

One has to wonder your requirements for living at 120K. OK only 2 of us, but my wife and I do fine on 30K. Bills/food/drink/truck and her fags.

    Rent - 30k

    Bills - 10k

    School fees - 10k

    Wifes debts - 15k

    Housekeeping money/Food/ toiletries/clothes/gasoline etc...30k

    General stuff - Going out..beers/restaurants etc...30k..

Plus mosy months something obscure will come that needs paying for - Car insurance/Healt insurance...weekend away....something gets broken...etc etc..

I can live in the western world cheaper than that and I ain't part of the noodle and bus brigade.

  3. Thats high insurance. Many years ago I had Blue Cross/ Blue Shield with $10,000 DEDUCTIBLE. I never had to use it and had it for 10 years or so but it was like 25% of the cost of the normal policy. You might think of trying this now but maybe a higher deductible. A policy like this does not cover a broken arm but covers really major stuff and thats all I needed. Now I have great company insurance and I can keep it after I retire so I am set up

  4. Vasu money exchange on Sukhumvit is the only way. Less hassel than a bank photo copying every bill you exchange and a higher rate by about 60 stang per dollar. The exchange rate between the airport and Vasu will be close to 80 stang, maybe even 1 bhat per dollar.

On $5000 dollars thats about B4000. For $100 change anywhere but always better at Vasu for hassel reasons and exchange rates. They also have the private exit if you exchange serious money.

  5. http://boxrec.com/li...d=352&cat=boxer

This thug assaults his partner in front of their young children and expects everyone to feel sorry for him because he has to face up to the consequences of his actions. He got a slap on the wrist sentence because he is rich and still whines about it. Clearly he has taken too many blows to the head in the ring. Man's a moron.

The Guy is a brilliant boxer and hardly takes any blows to his head as his outstanding boxing record shows and IMHO the best defensive boxer in the world today ,however having said all that the guy in his private life is a natural born arshole ,credit given were credit is due ,inside and outside the ring .http://boxrec.com/li...d=352&cat=boxer his record of fighters he beat reads like a who's who ,if only his record in his private life was half as good as he has had a few skirmishe's with the law before ,most likely cos his views on life are so well balanced owing to the fact IMHO he's got a chip on either shoulder smile.png .

I would like to see him get "tough" in mixed martial arts such as the UFC........He will take a few head hits there.rolleyes.gif

  6. Thailand should not worry about "normal relations" with a government that treats their workers from developing countries (TCN's is the term used there) like a spec of dirt. Though there is a serious unemployment problem in Saudi, the locals feel that they are "above" doing service jobs such as sweeping the streets, being an electrican, car mechanic, working in a store or restaurant, being a construction worker...the arrogant Saudis all want to have an office and be a boss. Workers from Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Phillipines and even Nepal are brought in to do these jobs under poor working conditions and sometimes not receiving their pay. Thailand can feel fortunate.

This poster is 100% correct. I doubt that even if relations were good there would be very few jobs worth having that Thai's would want. Many of the jobs that Thai's might do in KSA are done by Third Country Nationals from Bangladesh, Somali, Nepal, etc at cheaper salaries in Saudi than a Thai would be paid in Thailand. There is also the "agent" scams where a large part of the money the TCN earns the agent gets. Then they get treated like dirt to boot. Thai's should not cry over not having jobs in Saudi that pay less money than the same job pays in Thailand in reality.
