  1. I started off with 2 cards, a Visa and a Mastercard, but they were both inked to the same fixed deposit guarantee amount. I seemed to only use the one so one year never renewed the Visa one. I have used the MC quite a bit in Thailand without issue, but I admit to being fearful of fraud and high commissions outside of LOS and don't. I initially got it to support online air-ticket purchases, annual trips to UK.
  2. What are you babbling about?
  3. RU sure... I have one of those and although not used specifically, it was fine as a guarantee to check in for an overseas hotel.
  4. Come come, you seem to do that more than most. You could go liven up the Thai Language Forum rather than nagging the English speakers area!
  5. A cynic might wonder if their reaction would have been as efficient prior to recent events in that area. But GOOD news anyhow,
  6. Yes, to get to a crime scene and report on it, by any means possible...lying included.
  7. I live in the outskirts of Pattaya and don't see much of them. But they do seem to pop up when some kid loses face, or there is a road rage incident. I just got a baseball bat! ????
  8. If on the Visa network I expect they would.... they seem to like to use dollars as rates on Rupees are often not good.
  9. Still recall a guy setting up a camera and posting a nice video of a maid pilfering.. she even had a friend helping as there were 2 of them in there. I don't expect poorly paid maids are any more or less to be trusted than other groups.
  10. There was a trick where a guest wanted her valuable jewelry putting in your safe, for safe keeping (sorry)... she would be looking over your shoulder while you opened it!
  11. Bring your own box is one idea... although I recall early Pattya days some places simply used the hotel safe, and you got an envelope to seal things into. One tale I recall, the nightshift guy did a runner with the lot!
  12. I don't like to take all my cash, cards etc out with me too and the room safe is all that is on offer. Fortunately I have seen the rigmarole required to get into the room safe (of the hotel I normally use) as I made a mess of locking it once and couldn't remember what I keyed in. It was simply a matter of removing a small metal label to expose a pass key slot!.
  13. I doubt it...... Foreigners yes, an autopsy required, (In the UK death in a hospital/hospice does not require an autopsy),
  14. I would not stand on the 'natural plant' platform for 'it must be good'... cocaine and opium derive from them too!
  15. Think about it a moment...... you will come up xxxxxs. ????
  16. Any idea what happened to their weapons?
  17. Well if it is a movie like Scott of the Antarctic, yes it does!
  18. The headline did! Also stated in the linked article.
  19. At least he had a childhood, unlike his victims.
  20. Tasteless I know, but the train won out!
  21. Maybe, maybe not! There have been plenty of thefts from room safes over the years. Someone will no doubt post a link to the video of one being opened by being hit with a potato soon! Thais are often lackadaisical in this respect. A wayward son of a guest house owner has access to the pass key, or knows the override code, is all it takes. (Or it is still 9999 even!).
  22. I thought they were 20 baht but might depend on distance. A Bolt might be a better idea, door to door and all that.
  23. Glad I am not the only one concerned this liberal weed attitude may impact on the City negatively. I am a bit of a fuddy duddy and was worried about the plague of tattoo shops too!
