    Sounds idyllic..... mine isn't bad but my thoughts have strayed there when I watch the dancing girls on Thai TV.

    Although we do seem to get flashing lights on a lot of other vehicles here too.... even the odd cheeky foreigner.

    Yes, they need space to use the promenade.....I love the way the parked vehicles block off the disabled transport... a good example can be seen on soi Yume, where a disabled lane from Father Ray's is always blocked..... Perhaps the beachside lane would make a good disabled and cycling lane....

    Years ago we used to get the VIP/Royal motorcades driving around and all traffic was halted when they wanted to drive through, major roads like Sukhumvit were blocked to prevent entry and cleared. The police could really get their act together for these things.... and lowly people had to wait a long time for them to whiz through at high speed.... Angry little sods the local drivers.....

    That of course was to boost domestic tourism during the lean times of Covid.... no parking needs to be reintroduced now that things are picking up. Although it doesn't bother me as I stay away from those areas on holidays or long weekends. It is bad enough in the outskirts.

    That was also the usual treatment for some of those found guilty of DUI.... a police officer saying 'off to immigration' after already paying up in court. The whole process was an exercise in extortion. I believe a Permission can be cancelled at immigration if a person has a criminal record... not sure if a DUI conviction constitutes that! You are not in Kansas any more
