  1. Just maybe...if inexpensive restaurants & even roadside stalls offered decent quality oil instead of palm & soy, no MSG, no sugar, reduced salt &some vegetarian (not vegan) options, people would flock to them even at more expensive prices. I know I would.
  2. Besure to pick 7200 rpm rather than 5400. The clothes are much drier when done. You won't use the dryer much except in the rainy season when you don't want that sour small. Better to hand them in the sun.
  3. Nothing beats a ride with the horse guard equestrian centre in Kanchanaburi. Lovely places to stay...some with hotsprings. Beautiful horses. However, my nemesis proved to be #13, flipped me off & broke two ribs!
  4. Umm, that was 24 years ago, long before the Holy Land Foundation was exposed as a Hamas front. “No ban. No wall. Build it up. We’ll make it fall,” Who can't agree with that...in any country, whether USA or Israel.
  5. I'm sloshing through the entire EZTV list. Into the Bs, not much to watch. Dead to Me is awesome & quirky. Gone Girl.
  6. I loved Squid Games S01 but S02 was a repetitious stinker. Can't believe they're bothering to do S03. Nine Peffect Strangers, on. the other hand, is my kind of quirky TV. No spoliers here. Watch it!
  7. An OP recommended Scene Release as a source for movies & TV. It is a complete PITA unless you have a lot of time and patience on your hands. And movies nobody wants to see: Jaws 2, really? I rely on the free NYT weekly movies update. Not all the ones you want to see will be available yet but Nicolas Cage's The Surfer is. I am totally flabbergasted that no one here has mentioned The Handmaid's Tale, probably the most important political prophecy of our time. Read the book, too!
  8. Sometimes quoted as 'filmography'.
  9. Sorry for mailbombing this thread. I'm pretty excited to find 'my kind' on AN. Obviously not barflies. Speaking of which: Leaving Las Vegas, The Bad Lieutenant, both with Nicolas Cage Barfly with Mickey Rourke Have not seen 3 Body Problem TV series on here. Cixin Liu's trilogy is great, too. Anybodt here use Z-library for books? Direct download. Use Reddit thread to find URLs. Lexx (4 seasons), Canuck sci-fi. Weird as it gets: "The dead do not poop!"
  10. Looks tricky to setup. I haven't hasd much luck with github content. And I use a Mac.
  11. MV Group is awesome for documentaries. RUtracker is really good for everything. Have to be careful content has English. Both require sign-up. Why not? I've never gotten email from either.
  12. Anybody out there using Usenet? Suggestions for a good one, please.
  13. Almodovar's The Skin I'm In is an outstanding twister!
  14. VLC (free) plays anything if anyone is having trouble playing in any format.
  15. Yeah, the misery heroin can cause and all that. In UK, it's still legal for addicts on prescription and they're functioning in society, not homeless thieves for their next fix. How about the misery caused by those legal drugs, alcohol & tobacco. Why are they legal? Because...capitalism. I feel sorry for the old codger. Perhaps he was set up or perhaps he's just stupid. I hope he gets sent back to Latvia where he may have people who love him.
  16. Local Netflix has mostly Thai heartbreakers and older Hollywood movies, thanks to intellectual property. My take is information just wants to be free. So I get my content the old-fashioned way. Binge-watch a lot. Others?
  17. Makro is one of the worst offenders for plastics! Yes, we reuse for trash, of course, but we can keep up with the constant new bags.
  18. If nonviolent direct action is terrorism, then I stand with the terrorists. 17 trials against 80 Palestine Action Group members. I hope they do more to point out the UK's tolerance--read complicity and profit--for Israel's war machine. So which is the terrorist??? Snipers who kill hungry civilians waiting for food or a few people with sledgehammers?
  19. Paul John claims to be a single malt. I've not tried it but it's hardly the only Indian single malt out there. I have tried two different Indian tequilas: Desmondji 100% Agave and Maya Pistola. Neither are as good as any Mexican reposado, even the most basic. But all we get here is Patron which is really ho-hum. Then again, I'm a fish not a ficionado. Actually, my favourite local tipple is still Mekong. Ridiculously expensive but much smoother and less sweet than Sang Som or Hong Thong. I like it when the label had no English!
  20. Anybody tried Nevermind on Soi 48. German place, been meaning to get there. Still looking for beautiful rye bread like Bei Otto.
  21. Yep, nothing so satisfying as a plastic bag fire on a cold Bangkok night! Well, tires burn longer... Does anybody know if there are scavengers / recyclers at Thai rubbish dumps?
  22. Seniors are half price but only if off-hours 9am-4pm and 8pm to 12am.
  23. I've tried most of them on the Sukhumvit line. Approach with confidence. Only once had I been asked to produce my pink card. Been hassled twice. The first time, at Phrom Pong, I was stupid and gave up my card--B300. NEVER DO THIS! Hang onto your card. I'm quite prepared to hang out until the tourist police arrive. It would be big news if a foreigner were busted for 'theft of services'. Yeah, a night in the hoosegow and a judge laughing this out of court. Would the BTS lawyers even show up? That would 'show them up'! You may not be as much of a radical extremist as I but that's the only way to effect change. After all, the MTR sees no problem. Pick a station outside tourist zones for purchase & top-up. Not Ekamai, Thonglor, Phrom Pong, Asok, Nana, Ploenchit, Chidlom, Siam, maybe Chatuchak. The rest should be fine. Don't give up your card and they will back down. Caveat: you may run into a rulesy BTS employee or someone having a bad day. Or maybe a BTS crackdown. It won't last.
