  1. I agree with the Thai government, as much as possible of these chemical shit products from Pfizer and similar companies must be banned. Chemicals in your body can never give you any benifit.

This sort of comment always baffles me - your body is made 100% out of "chemicals" - and even if you were to narrow it to "exogenous chemicals" then I would just have to wonder if you plan to never eat or drink anything.

Ban testosterone: that leads to sex crimes .

  2. Mt Thaksin and others were talking to the operators of Macau casinos in 2005 with a view to opening Thailand's first casino in the Chiang Mai province, one of Mr Thaksin's sisters attended the meeting.

The 2006 coup put an end to that.

I think we can safely assume that negotiations are on again. And it makes sense,Thailand is bleeding gambling money to every other country that surrounds it.

Does it really make a difference? The government has no place protecting people from themselves.

Let Darwinism take its course: some will be poorer, some will be richer. The only hope is that some revenue gets channelled into improving the education system, but that is very doubtful. In the end, the only winners in the present system are the police and operators abroad, and the poor are screwed in any case.

  3. Of course this is an issue. When you have well run businesses, run by people who understand the international markets, the concepts of correct and intelligent marketing, and the elements involved in competitive pricing, and customer service, the Thai businesses simply cannot compete. So, when you cannot compete, what do you do? You try to eliminate the competition. But, from what I hear, it was a Thai operator here, who was doing the local trade, So, it seems that the issue is simply the right to overcharge for a service. When the Phuket insects are getting 200 baht for a 1.5km ride, and 1,000 baht for a ride to and from the airport, there is a lot of room for improvement. But, unfortunately, as usual, the authorities do not have the wisdom to see the benefits of service, over extreme profits. Nobody minds a decent profit. Everybody minds extortion. Let us find a scapegoat. Who will lose in the end?mthe tourists who are supporting Thailand's tourism industry.

I think the governor of Phuket might not be aware of how many ex-tourists have blacklisted Phuket on account of the taxi scams, including this one.......Once bitten, twice shy.

  4. I would say that most shops, department stores and convenience stores in Thailand are run by Thai chinese, and clearly the only way to motivate chinese thais is through their pocket book.

Put a tax on plastic bags, and within a year, 7/11 will be asking you if you really want a plastic bag, rather than giving you two for safety, plus a drinking straw just in case.

    EASY!

Put a recycle/scrap value on plastic bags - the place would be picked clean overnight!

  5. Its the way people get ahead in business.

    Eliminate the competition.

Yes, but it could also be from a failed relationship.

Yes, the top 2 reasons to call in the hit man - love and/or business ie money.

    RIP the unlucky lady.

Basically, love - including love of money. sad.png

In thailand love of face is also very powerful, certainly enough to murder

Good idea and hope it works.

    February 1 is soon...

    So is April 1.

Call me cynical, but nothing is going to change. Just more hot air posturing.

Indeed, this is more of the April 1 genre than Feb 1. Around then they will be busy with a crackdown on wet breasts and alcohol at songkrahn, so we could move this to an april 2014 deadline, or 2015, or maybe the year after.

However, given the highly regarded family dynasty involved, I am certain that a large budget will be appropriated by Feb 1 this year.

  7. Interesting that The BIB are pro active. Don't doubt that the fake upholders of democracy will crush this protest, by any means possible, can't have people speaking out against The DL and his puppet government.

yes but unfortunately that is totally the wrong way to handle this situation, if this continues it will degrade rapidly into a huge civil disorder mess, these people have the right to protest they are doing nothing wrong, if they are not allowed to exercise their rights that is very dangerous

I hope you do not think that the BIB have any clue on how to handle this situation

All the know how to do is say "Roy baht" and stick their hand out

The again the cold medicine drinker has probably told them what to do and how to do it

A little bit of trouble makes for good reading and good news.

The Gov't can then blame everything on protestors and say they handled everything prefectly

The man with ear-ache is in charge locally, with a direct line to square face. The pretty is a lovely little thing, perfect announcer. What a lovely party!

  8. When confronted with the armed assailant, the dead man showed no fear.

How could he, he was dead. I`m not trying to be funny, just the way this article is written.

Here is a warning, in Thailand try to control your temper. From experience I have learned that many Thais, although curtious, calm and polite most of the time, are on a very short fuse and can snap in an instance if provoked.

Keep that in mind if out and about and stay safe.

The Thai male ego is a sensitive thing: beware of crushing it, it can easily explode

  9. It appears everyone agrees the rice scam is doomed but the Govt, in sheer stupidity and arrogance, continues to cling to the wishes of Thaksin who is trying to manipulate the global market. What greater proof can there be that this narcissistic maniac cares nothing about Thailand and simply directs his puppets to gamble on his behalf using tax payers money? Throw this bunch of incompetent criminals out on their ear now, before the losses and theft of public funds compounds. Impeachment of the PM, no confidence censure, coup - whatever works, get rid of them before it's too late.

Thaksin is wrong more often than he is right, but he gambles with other peoples money. He cant lose.......Heads he wins, tails we lose.
