  1. please bear in mind this rule when posting:

    3) Religious or racial slurs, rude and degrading comments towards women, or extremely negative views of Thailand will not be tolerated.

consider this a warning to all, however i suspect that this thread wont be open too much longer.

  2. To say i am disgusted at some of the comments on this thread is an understatement. i wonder if they all sit at the back of the plane on the way over?

Jesus Christ. where do you people get off crucifying someone because of their nationality or the colour of their skin? For those of you ranting about HIV and AIDS spread and violence, take a look at some stats from Thailand. One of you said that you wanted to have a little 'fun' with some of their 'service providers'. Well, if you stick a condom on, you should lessen the risk. Or were you perhaps considering going bareback and taking back whatever you pick up back home to your next conquest?

I befriended a nigerian bloke in bangkok and he has been there for years now working in the rag trade. he is legal, and rarely drinks, hates drugs, and is quite religious (christian - not that THATS got anything to do with anything). Hes not a criminal.

If there are africans down khao san road, so bloody what? You don't like them because they are african?

Get back on the plane to wherever you came from, and hand your passport in to immigration on the way in. you clearly shouldn't be traveling anywhere.

    Rant Over!

  3. i agree re the fresh deli produce. many times i went to Villa in Sukhumvit to find that the goods had been sitting there days after their use by date.

but for other things like your vegemite, barbeque shapes, tim tams (not those crap malaysian ones :o ), twisties and the like, they are great. sure, they are more expensive than 'home' but with import duties and profits to be made, its still cheaper than flying back to wherever to get them.

i think it will be a great asset to Phuket.

  4. Thoughts must and do go to the family. Another bad day in Thailand. What I find disgusting among all this is while people are sending their wishes to the family and trying to make sense of this senseless killing some posters are happily discussing the menu and whether the food is any good. A man is dead for crying out loud. Have some respect people. What next, somebody asking for job vacancies ? :o

    i agree with you H2oDunc.

posts such as the one you mentioned are in very poor taste, as is the bickering about what time it happened etc.

please have some respect folks. some of us DID know Kit personally.

  5. when are these people going to stop killing people for just being successful? just because one person is successful and another isnt, does not give the less successful one a reason to shoot the other.

this is the third acquaintance/friend of mine, that has been shot dead in front of many others and i find this mentality disturbing.

Thailand is like the wild wild west and i hope that the police catch these thugs and string them up by their teeny balls. how these people sleep at night is beyond me.

Kit was a delightful man with a smile that would light up a room. he was a loving father and husband, who had built up his business by himself. a very humble man, Kit had many friends on the island and in Bangkok.

may he rest in peace and may his wife and children recover from this shock eventually.

my heart goes out to them, and to the rest of Kits family and friends.

i hope his legacy continues through his restaurants, which are truly wonderful.

    You didnt deserve this Kit.

  6. oh my god. im shocked by this news. if it is the owner, Kit, he is an absolute gentleman and only young. Kit worked in Kuppa, Bangkok, for some years before opening his own places in Phuket.

i really hope it isnt Kit. i had the pleasure of working with him for a short time and cannot think of why anyone would want to do this to such a divine young man.

  7. thanks everyone. i had a lovely day. work until 3, home for a little relax, friends over for drinks, a lovely cake from my maid and her husband, as well as flowers, out for dinner, and home to bed.

today im off for an ayurvedic massage which will be wonderful, and maybe a little more pampering tomorrow.

this year is gonna be a good one - i can feel it in my waters!

  8. Oh my....I do have a reputation on Phuket, don't I! Haha.

I find that the drivers on Phuket are very aggressive, with no consideration for others. When driving there, I drive like a local - if you cant beat 'em, join 'em, I say! Having said that, I never had an accident, and never had anyone pull a gun or knife on me.

there were many times i would drive down the beach road in Patong with an idiot tonka truck driver in me driving at 2km an hour beeping his horn. i used to beep my horn at HIM to get him out of the way. it was kind of like a sport to me. maybe foolish on my part, but i never felt that i was in any danger at all.

to slackula and old croc, come on.... admit it. i AM a kick ass driver! :o

(i should add that i didnt drive agressively ALL the time....only when slackula pissed me off at work)

  9. I may be sen to be stirring the pot, but lets say I, as a western woman, work and send half my money home to my parents. This could be in Thailand, or back i the west. OK, I meet one of you blokes, and we start a relationship. (I will refrain from using the word 'love' at this point). How would you react if i asked you to buy ME a motorbike or to build MY folks a new house because theirs was broken?

Is there any difference if I happen to come from a poor family in the west?

Speaking honestly, if a man asked me to look after his money, I would find that a bit weird, and I would refuse to do it. If a man offered to give me a motorbike, I would have to wonder what I had to do in return for it.

After all, theres no such thing as a free lunch, is there? Or is that just my suspicious western mind?

  10. Sorry 'bout the stutter. As I was trying to post the above, there must have been some sort of crash at TV, because pages wouldn't load and there was a message about some sort of directory conflict at TV. Seemed to last a while, so I gave up. A few more headaches for George and his team, it seems...

no problem Ping. i have that same thing happen sometimes too for some reason.

the extra post has been deleted now.

    donna.

  11. enough of the ring fixation. i think that there are bigger problems do deal with here. if you do find out that shes not married, then it sounds like you are too shy to approach her, so what does it matter?

you can ask someone at work who knows her perhaps?

we all have walls up to a degree, so if you REALLY want to get to know her, you just have to knock them down for a bit.

    good luck though.
