  1. you sure about that boss? I don't know of any Aussie banks that will allow payid transfers for $320k. even getting ANZ to approve an OTC transfer of that amount might be a struggle, the Big 4 aren't particularly generous.
  2. correct, you pay AUD to a local AU back account. there are multiple methods but OP would be best to use BSB and account number. assuming that ANZ don't give him any grief about transferring such a large amount at once. when transfer is complete OP can choose to convert all or part of the funds to THB using the convert function. then push out to a Thai bank account at his leisure. attached screenshot shows sample AUD transfer to Wise's AU bank account for ten dollars.
  3. he looks like the sort of drongo that turns up to the dining car at 10pm with all of his feral mates, squeezes out the locals and then tells the staff to change the awesome Thai music for his mix tape of random farang sh!te. because the Lonely Planet said that's what you must do. Feral farang ruined Thai train travel long before the booze ban.
  4. sounds like most of the farang I've met whilst here in Thailand.
  5. that's 31 days including arrival date, not 30. also out by one day, that's 46 days incl. arrival date not 45
  6. tbh I don't really know about the timing. only used it once when I came over last December, made the booking the day before and printed it out at home. having a home printer is sooooo convenience ????
  7. I guess terminology depends on who you hang out with. I was taught that 'visa run' = schlepp all the way to an embassy or consulate to get an actual visa, ie. a big ol' trip especially if you did it by 3rd-class train from Bangkok to Penang ???? 'border run' or 'bounce' or 'hop' means you just head to nearest border, go out of Thailand into neighbouring country and come right back in again.
  8. rent a ticket for airline check-in. onwardticket(dot)com
  9. what @jacko45ksaid, no need for a visa, just do a border bounce after the 30-day extension. incorporate it into your trip, head up to say Nong Khai then pop over to Lao for another 30. even better, head to Vientiane for a day or two. Beer Lao by the Mekong, what's not to like? ????
  10. *Padang Besar. sorry, but can't let this one slide ???? and now I'm hungry for some masakan padang ????
  11. yes, but you wouldn't necessarily have to do a visa run. border bounce will get you another 30 days.
  12. have taken a train from CM to BKK in a very long time ago so don't know what the current situation is like viz entry into Bangkok proper. back in the old days you'd get to the outskirts of Bangkok quite early then the train would crawl into Hualomphong, stopping randomly for what seemed like hours. Depending on your final destination and how keen your are to get off the train then disembarking earlier at say Bang Sue is an option. Then just jump a cab to your destination. it'll be nice and early so not much traffic.
  13. sorry bro I'm confoosed, why are you telling me this? I got no beef with the new TM47 system ????
  14. here's a good rundown of what's available... https://www.chiangmaitraveller.com/bangkok-chiang-mai-overnight-sleeper-train/
  15. use your phone to download Firefox offline installer. move the .exe file to your PC using USB cable then install. if you don't have a phone then you really are daffy ????
  16. just used the site, it's fine. if you've never tried it how do you know if it's any good or not? ????
  17. This. and as you said, TIT YMMV. you can try fighting it but you'll just get a headache. "Think too much no good, hurt your head" - random girl in Patts ????
  18. I'll pay a hundred baht to watch this greasy begpacker go up against the Green Basta√d in the rasslin' ring.
  19. makes the place a damn sight more enjoyable than back 'home' doesn't it?
  20. I live alone in a condo in Bangers, 14th floor with two aircon units. chuck the clothes on a drying rack on the balcony, whack on both AC units and hey presto washing is dry in next to no time. that's if I ever get around to taking it out of the machine. p'raps there's something to be said for having a ball and chain around the place after all ????
  21. and if you're really hard up I think you can still get a 'loom' on Chaiyapun for a couple hundred baht. stayed in one once for a few hours, they're pretty grim but probably still better than being back in rainy old Pommyland ????
