  1. but that's all part of the charm of living in Thailand is it not? if it were as efficient and streamlined as say, Singapore then it'd be boring and expensive as hell and we couldn't afford to or wouldn't want to live here. a few years ago a friend related to me an anecdote about two dudes who step out of the aeroplane at Don Meaung and are greeted by the aroma of Bangkok. the first dude holds his nose and proclaims it to be "disgusting". the second dude breathes it all in and declares "aah, Thailand!" don't be the first dude, dude ????
  2. sounds like a hoot! I've seen and done a few things myself down on the 6 but nothing like that. now that's the "Real Thailand" ????
  3. is that code for "my wife doesn't let me go anywhere on my own"? ????
  4. hi mate, you are correct about those places being far enough away from each other to warrant being listed separately. also I've been kicking around Pattaya for a long time now and from the off I was given to understand that "Pattaya" means just the main area between Beach Road and Sukhumvit. Na Kluea starts at the Dolphin roundabout or maybe a little bit after and Jomtien starts... well I could never figure that out as I rarely venture south of Walking Street ????
  5. Kris plays dirty pool and this is very disappoint but no need to gloat cuz
  6. it's not a bribe, it's a contribution to the RTP Benevolent Fund. win-win situation. don't you ever get tired of spreading FUD, geezer?
  7. ser, I can't help you with a connected CM agent because I'm Bangkok-based. However I used a Thai-run, very popular agent on Soi Post Office in Pattaya to facilitate my retirement visa and subsequent renewal of said visa back in December 2021. said agent offers free 90-day reporting which entails mailing one's passport to them or using that as an excuse to visit fabulous Pattaya for a few days. after I moved from Pattaya to Bangkok I didn't really feel like doing either of the above so I decided to do my first ever 90-day report here in Bangkok. I asked here in this forum about the risks associated with that but didn't really get a straight answer. I asked my Pattaya agent about it and she said to be prepared for questions from CW immi. so in the end I decided to use a Bangkok-based agent to do the 90-day report for me and to ensure that my new Bangkok address was recorded as being my permanent address instead of whatever random address the Pattaya agent used. 1K for pickup and drop-off at my condo in Lumphini. So whilst I'm totally in favour of using Pattaya agents the practice doesn't come without its challenges. Perhaps another member with more extensive practical experience can point you in the right direction.
  8. of course they want a way out. "Corvid" is bad for bitness.
  9. but you and your brethren achieve nothing except to show that you lost the game. the tsunami of FUD coming from you guys is old already, get a new shtick.
  10. forget the tea, I think you need a packet or two of Trammies.
  11. and there ain't a damn thing you or any other farang kee nok can do about it so why keep moaning about it?
  12. nobody's listening brother so why keep flogging the dead horse? Thais gunna do what they gunna do, end of.
  13. you're really not making much sense now brother, I think you should have a cup of tea and a nice lie down.
  14. if you hate it so much here cuz why don't you just go home? I'm having the time of my life in Bangkok, wouldn't be dead for quids.
  15. ease up on the FUD bro. TP ain't no thang.
  16. I saw a shirtless, maskless tourist walking down Silom a few weeks ago. at first I thought what an a-hole but then I saw that he was very overweight, red-faced and dripping with sweat so I forgave him. the Bangkok heat and humidity ain't for everybody. that, and he wasn't hurting anybody. jai yen yen and all that. ps. I hope he made it to Patpong OK ????
  17. the way she goes boys, deal with it instead of calling the waahbulance ????
  18. @thaibeachloverstbl mate, leave your money on the fridge ????
  19. it's been like that since I first hit the place at New Year's '97. it's how they do, pointless getting upset about it. just walk around the holes and move on with your life like the Thais do. jai yen yen and all that.
  20. you are spot on mate. I personally think it's a form of neo-colonialism to constantly complain about how "bad" things are here. especially on the visa/permission to stay/90 day reporting front. to paraphrase Morrissey and Marr from "Still I'll"... "Thailand is mine and it owes me a living. But ask me why and I'll spit in your eye." sad and confused emojis incoming in 3, 2, 1...????
  21. the world has always been a dangerous place and always will be. it's wishful thinking to expect that you can go anywhere you want without fear of being taken by a wild beast, whether that be human or animal.
  22. oh I was down there last night but I forgot to go and check up on the old place. I got steaming drunk at one of the bar beers on Patpong 2 instead ????
  23. no it's a little bit more subtle then that but as I said to another member who called me stupid (hate speech), I CBF explaining the nuances.
