  1. a proper apartment too, the real good ones seem to start at about 170k (based on my internet searches when looking for a place in Lumphini back in Feb) I had to settle for a 67sqm shoebox for considerably less than that and I have to but my beers from the 7-Eleven to scrape by ????
  2. ser, I love Thailand and the Thai people and am overjoyed to call the place home now but I'm not at all keen on the food. sorry, not sorry that I eat mostly foreign muck and only try Thai food when I'm out with my seppo mate and his TW. I haven't been to El Gaucho yet but it's on my list. atmo my favourite lunch is the Aussie Wagyu cheeseburger at Roadhouse Barbecue in Bangers. 345++ but you can get it for 295++ (incl. free iced tea lol) between 11am and 3om daily. so 295 x 1.177 = 347.22 THB. that converts to AUD14.21 at current xe mid-market spot rate. this is a really nice burger, better than I've had back in Oz. so good that I ate one every day for a week. back "home" it is simply impossible to find a Wagyu burger for anywhere near fourteen bucks, let alone with a free drink and in a nice aircon restaurant with cute, friendly wait staff. that ser is not rocket science ???? ps. draft Asahi is approx. AUD6.74 for a half-litre "pint". again, simply not possible to find that in Oz.
  3. nice one mate. I love Australia, it gave me the leg up to retire at 50. but geez it's boring compared to where I'm at now. Lumphini, Bangkok with Patpong a stone's throw away ???? ps. I chose to come live in Thailand because it's "sanuk" so the nightlife is just the icing on the cake.
  4. good to know you're not just another fair weather friend ????
  5. there's good money to be made in Straya if you're willing to work mate
  6. even if they raise the songthaew price for dirty foreigners to 30 baht? ????
  7. "Americans" in Mehico are annoying AF. speaking from personal experience.
  8. indeed. bees are very important to the fragile ecosystem that us self-aware apes seem intent on destroying. they need to be humanely relocated, end of.
  9. oh I meant in Oz. I don't think Google Pay is supported here. my GPay app won't open here so I'm assuming Thailand don't like it.
  10. I went for a couple of nice early morning walks when I first went back to Pattaya in December last year. nice and cool and quiet and the beach looked very nice despite what the moaners say about it. but then I quickly got back into my routine of stay out until 3am and sleep all day so that was the end of my Pattaya sunrise adventures ????
  11. Aussie beaches are bloody grouse mate!
  12. I'm too gutless to ride motorbikes let alone something as crazy as a CBR900. but I did recognise what I've dubbed "Hell Corner" as soon as you got near it. yes, done the songthaew down that route many times and have walked it a few times too. but on the footpath not the road like that crazy fool you passed when rounding the bend ????
  13. I smashed all my mirrors a long time ago ????
  14. ha ha he'll do what I did after my first long trip to SEA. go home and be absolutely totally depressed until he can get back over here ????????????
  15. I spent some time in Ubon Ratchathani many moons ago. I went and stayed with an American fella that I'd met in Bangkok. he introduced me to one local fella who had a Honda Civic and a French fella who rode one of those little baby step-through motorbikes. The Thai guy drove us around a couple of times including one to a restaurant on a river that was some ways out of town. we are jumping shrimp and sticky rice, it was awesome. The French guy needed to go to immigration and invited me along. it was a fairly long trip and I'm not exactly sure where we went but after immigration he took me to a river near the border with Lao or Cambodia (sorry my geography brain has shut down for the night). point is that I had a really great time running around the countryside in private transport. maybe consider renting or even buying a motorcycle to get around if you're an experienced rider and/or have the requisite skillset.
  16. so you're not a total p***head then. that's good, saves you a bit of dosh. I'm on an austerity kick at the moment because the markets are choppy. I'm limiting my self to six 490mL cans of Heineken per day. I buy the plastic-wrapped 2 packs at B119 each at the 7-11. sorry environment but what I can do? when the markets pick up I'll be back to my old life of paying silly prices for beers and lady drinks down at the club. WAGMI. ????????????????
  17. it's not that hard to understand, try a bit harder.
  18. you're Aussie aren't you mate? 10K baht per week for beer would be a more accurate estimate.
  19. why, they look silly. this is the way to go (pic taken at Hansar Hotel) ????
