  1. How does your wife make the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding then?
  2. if you fall so easily at the first hurdle then perhaps Thailand ain't the place for you. lots of little niggles like that here, adapt or fail.
  3. Use an agent to open a bank account and move on with your life. The only downside is that your have to queue up in the bank behind a bunch of technologically challenged farang who don't have a mobile internet data and so can't download the banking app. Or worse, don't have a local SIM card ????
  4. Three grand a month in Bangkok won't buy you luxury, heck it will barely get you an apartment. Luxury is 98 Wireless, Lambos and Wagyu steak, breakfast at the Mandarin Oriental.
  5. it's only confusing if you don't stay up to date with the changes. the whys and wherefores are discussed here quite regularly. but TIT so up to you if you don't want to join the conversation.
  6. Sorry I guess I misunderstood your post.
  7. My agent in Pattaya charges 'roi neung' for a 90-day report as of 1 April 2023 but I think that's for their existing clients and not walk-ins. They used to do it for free as part of the package but times change etc.
  8. And I just realised I got a SWIFT/BIC code too ("Outside the UK" tab).
  9. Not true, I just opened a GBP balance in the Wise app and got myself a UK bank number with a sort code and an IBAN (whatever they are).
  10. the 1,900 baht is for the service they provide. not giving you your 100 baht change back is them trying it on and hoping you either won't notice or won't say anything about it.
  11. my post was in jest however you can't see the heat post of it anymore ????
  12. I heard those stories too. I guess that's why I paid only 160 baht for a ticket from Ratchadamnoen Klang all the way to Koh Samui when the same trip was 400-something baht at Sai Tai Mai. Robbing the bagpackers subsidised the cost ???? Now that I think about it, I read those stories on the old Lonely Planet Thorn Tree forum which sadly has now disappeared.
  13. tell 'em to leave their money on the fridge! ????
  14. It's hidden for some reason, this thread might help you... https://aseannow.com/topic/1289709-cant-complete-online-tm30-registration/#comment-17967036
  15. Some rogue Immigration Offices are still persisting with the old rules because...reasons. We even had a recent report that online TM30 was unacceptable and the poster is required to visit the IO after every trip away.
  16. Homie in the photo ain't no white boy. Ain't old either. Just sayin'...
  17. Under the new rules he doesn't have to do another report when the gets back home, unless he's coming back in on a new visa. Bangkok have been complying with the new rules so the OP's case is strange.
  18. I try to speak Thai but nobody understands me so I've mostly given up. I just can't remember the tones.
  19. How so? Since the rule change in June 2020 it is no longer necessary for "long-stayers" to submit a new TM30 when they come back from a trip either domestically or internationally. It's only required if you come back in on a new visa.
  20. Sounds like you've "gone bamboo".
  21. I think the OP wants quality food, not gristle on a stick ????
  22. The version of ChatGPT that is free for public use, v3.5, is a bit of a joke. It was "fed" a very limited amount of information, only 300 billion words or so and that data cuts off sometime in 2021. Also it's not actually an AI, it's just an in-development computer program and it can't distinguish fact from fiction. So, for example, if most of the data it has been fed calls an extension a visa renewal then how will it know any different? I don't understand why people are putting so much store by it. Perhaps they're the ones with "artificial" intelligence.
  23. I'm not sure what you mean by that. Are you saying that the book is a figment of my imagination? I found it quite interesting. The writer's premise was that the displacement of the Palestinians was simply a population exchange. So all the Jewish people could come home and have a safe place to live and the existing populace could be absorbed by their "brothers" in the surrounding countries. A premise that I tend to agree with, despite your protestations to the contrary.
  24. Funny but I got that idea from a Jewish writer. Can't remember the name of the book but it was a lengthy tome about the creation of the State of Israel.
