  1. I spent about a year in Jakarta in '97 and '98 and got a small taste of what like as a slave to Mo. is like. It's 24/7 oppression, from the moment you are rudely awakened at zero dark thirty until you go to bed at night. Conform or suffer the consequences. Anyone who thinks that Islam is benign has rocks in their head.
  2. Both. At the same time! Apologies for the lame Medical Police reference.
  3. Either do Bangkok Bank if you use the Careless Cash option via your smartphone. Working data connection required of course so ignore everything I just said if you're a neo-Luddite.
  4. sounds like maybe Rooster should hire a driver if he "never know[s] what to do" on the roads ????
  5. yeah I figured that but I thought I'd try and reassure the OP in case the Play Store link I provided didn't work and they were forced to go the sideload route. installing an Android package (APK for the OP's benefit) from "unknown sources" can be a bit intimidating. unfortunately neither of my Android devices are rooted so I can't extract the APK file myself from /system or wherever they live nowadays.
  6. I've got the apkpure version of the app running on a second device for a while now with no issues. recent scans with McAfee and Sophos Intercept X we clean.
  7. I've done all that and the Section38 app just will not come up when searching via Google Play Store. I tried various inputs, "section38, section 38, immigration Thailand, immigration bureau Thailand" and it refuses to display the app. In the end I used a link provided by Ubonjoe which I've since found out you can also generate yourself via the Play Store once you have the app installed. It is... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=th.go.immigration.section38
  8. yes. I came here for the corruption, especially the wage disparity.
  9. so go and do something about it if you're that concerned about corruption. maybe start with the out of control fires and the unsupervised emissions generated by Thai industry. or the wage disparity. you need directions to government house?
  10. I'm stubborly single but if I ever got married it wouldn't be to a Hooters girl, they're far too sophisticated for the likes of me ????
  11. Yeah that VPN thing in the other thread went totally over his head. I guess he was too coked up to actually read your comment.
  12. GSM roaming is enabled by the carrier, not your phone. The phone setting is secondary to the carrier's roaming setting.
  13. you sound obsessed with ladyboys. I reckon you secretly want to try them one day (not that there's anything wrong with that).
  14. Ah but it is a thing of beauty. I re-upped for one year in Patts two weeks ago and all I had to do was go to the agent's office on Soi Post, then to the bank and then to Hooters. Too easy.
  15. Yeah he got a good haul, the povvo DIYers and the pro-800kers.
  16. of course I do. anyone living here that complains about corruption is a hypocrite. Thailand is corrupt from the inside out so one's very presence in the country is tacit approval of said corruption. apart from that, there's not a goddamn thing you can do about it so all this griping about dudes who "abuse" the system is just hot air.
  17. From what I can gather the OP isn't using an agent for the Full Monty he's using them to collect, review and submit the necessary documents. If he was paying them for the full service then the pdf docs he mentions would be totally unnecessary as all you need is two photos, bank book, passport and money for the agent's fee. The thread got derailed by the odious anti-agent brigade, as per usual.
  18. Mobile phones have 3 separate services: Voice, SMS (text), and Data (internet). In theory it is possible to enable/disable international roaming for each separate service but in practice it's up to the telco. My personal experience from Australian telcos is that it's all 3 or nothing at all. There's why you have to make sure to turn off Mobile data when you are connected to a foreign network. I haven't roamed with a Thai SIM card yet however if I was planning to and wanted just SMS recieve-only roaming then it's something I'd check with the telco(s) before I left.
  19. Just saw this message when I logged in to BBL's Bualuang mBanking app...
  20. Look at this way, your post helped a few lonely farang to keep themselves amused for a time so now you don't have to go to the wat to make merit ????
  21. Yeah nah mate it wasn't the Pommy flag he raised it was the British flag. Actually the first Union Flag according to this article: https://www.anfa-national.org.au/australian-red-ensign/first-union-flag/
