  1. My take is that it's an Immigration issue. The app vendor can choose which countries their app is available in. It would seem that they only want Thai-based users to be able to download the app. Or maybe Google charges extra for apps to be listed worldwide. At any rate it gave me something to do the other day and I guess I'm now an Android Section38 app specialist. When's my salary coming AseanNow? ps. this article touches on some of the technical aspects of app geo-restriction: https://streamtelly.com/cant-download-play-store/
  2. No worries. I only know this because I helped another BM the other day with the same issue. I gave him the link and it also didn't work. In the end he went the apkpure route. I also changed my Google account to one that is based in Australia and when I clicked on the link in my phone all I got was a blank screen. This was somewhat surprising since you normally get directed to the Play Store and the app shows up but with the "not available in your company". It seems that Immigration are doing their level best to hide this app from the public. Perhaps they want to stop maintaing it and divert the budget to more pressing tasks (buffet lunches?)
  3. LOl. The OP is in Phnom Penh applying for a non-O retirement visa after getting the bum's rush from SP Immi. @zzzzzis recommending that he use an agent in PP to facilitate this, the cost of which is, wait for it ... 80 bucks! ???? Actually I think it might be more than that, I read another post somewhere that said its $80 at the Embassy and $100 via local agent. At any rate, the OP has informed us he went the DIY route so all this talk of Phnom Penh agents is moot.
  4. The only other option is to get the APK file from a third-party host like apkpure. I downloaded the Section38 from apkpure the other day and installed it on my 2nd phone, then ran scans with McAfee and Sophos Intercept X. No malware detected.
  5. The issues with this app never cease to amaze. I get this when I click on that link from my desktop PC:
  6. I wouldn't do it for all the tea in China. Life as a tourist attraction/sideshow must be Hell on Earth.
  7. I've got my Play Store set to Thailand AND I'm using a Thai payment profile via pay.google.com yet the Section38 app just won't show up when I search in the Play Store. I had to get it using a link provided by Ubonjoe which I've subsequently found your can generate yourself in the Play Store. It is... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=th.go.immigration.section38
  8. Been working for me since I arrived here early 2022. Why I would pay ha roi baht for return taxi fare to CW plus printing out the form and filling it in (blue ink, right?) when I can do it in 30 seconds on my phone? The website prefills your info so all you have to do is hit the submit button. Latest report a few weeks ago was approved the same day. Simples.
  9. with a VPN it is. unless of course the WiFi server and/or the bank refuses VPN connections.
  10. Well they ain't real Southern boys now are they Bubba? ????
  11. I know a good ol' boy from Jawja (Georgia) that would just loooove you to call him a Yank to his face ???? Anyway that wasn't the point. Jack was complaining that Americans use their own version of English instead of some alleged 'common' version but then proceeds to use the term Yank which is primarily used by Aussies and Poms. Hypocrisy much?
  12. You use Aussie slang like "ripper" so why can't Americans use their own vernacular? Also referring to all Americans as Yanks shows your ignorance. How do you know that they ain't from the South? Don't ever be calling a Southern boy a Yank to his face or you'll be in a world of hurt.
  13. USD is used extensively in Cambodia. You withdraw USD from ATMs and pay your way with USD. Usually you get your change in riel. Phnom Penh is not Saigon...
  14. OP's in the Bodja so of course it's Yankee dollars. That's what the ATMs dispense, not Pacific Pesos ????
  15. I've dealt with both Fon and Nan, both are excellent. I prefer Nan in-person because she has a louder speaking voice than Fon. I struggle to hear certain things in noisy environments and that place can get very noisy because of all the shouty farang codgers ????
  16. He's talking about hand-holding not the Full Monty.
  17. I've been here since the start of 2022 on an agent-assisted non-O and two subsequent extensions. The Full Monty not hand-holding. Agent is Pattaya-based. I moved from staying in hotels in Patts & Bangkik to renting a condo in Bangkok. Condo office did TM30 online. I paid a Bangkok-based 1K baht to do my first TM47 at CW, including pick-up and drop-off of passport at my condo. Went without a hitch. Subsequent TM47s have been done online. I changed condos a few weeks ago just before my latest TM47 was due. Condo office did new TM30 online, I waited 4 days then submitted the TM47 visa the extranet. Approved same day. Simples. Agent has confirmed that they don't update my address as part of the renewal process so I'm not expecting any issues at the end of May when my next TM47 is due. So, no downside at all.
  18. of course they send it out of Bangkok, that's "use an agent 101". you say they "registered" you in Trang. I assume this means that you think they filled a TM30 for change of address in addition to processing the extension of stay. based on my experience with using a Pattaya agent that's not the case and I can continue to do TM47 online. but if you're concerned then maybe do what the agent says, file a new TM30 online then continue to do TM47 online as per normal.
  19. 1) yes to open a BBL transaction account whilst on visa exempt 2) cover is only for one year and was for a miniscule amount, ฿30k 3) scam/worthless
  20. It's obviously been machine translated from Thai. You know that's a thing, right?
  21. Zipmex. Maybe Binance, not sure if they onboard foreigners who live in Thailand.
  22. the extension should be a formality. one thing to bear in mind is that some offices want to see a TM30 for the extension so you might need to ask the hotel you're staying at to take a screenshot from their computer and print it out or email it to you.
  23. There is no 90 day tourist visa, whoever told you that owes you a case of beer. Single-entry tourist visa (SETV) is 60 days, extendable once for 30 days. It's online now... https://www.thaievisa.go.th/
