More than ten Thai restaurants caught selling alcohol beyond legal time
Lemsta69 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
I was thinking less about votes and more about political support from the conservative section of the high society. They don't give a rat's about the common folk. However I don't know enough about Thai politics to get a grip on what has really prompted this latest crackdown. I don't know enough about police politics either so I can't say if this latest operation was decreed from on high or if it's just Pol Maj Gen Buzzkill trying to make a name for himself as the new Region 2 big boss or whatever he is. Perhaps he's a fan of Big Joke. Or Cartman from South Park ???? I'm also not convinced it's about brown envelopes. They've just raided a disco for the 2nd time (forgot the name) and are now talking about petitioning the Chonburi governor to ban the venue for 5 years. Why would you shut down a revenue stream unless you really had to? Like you said, someone's got a bee in their bonnet and it doesn't look like they'll be quitting any time soon. -
Are you talking from recent experience? I haven't been to Patts since Jan 2022 and the go-gos were closed. Will be in Jomtien for Melly Klitmat with some friends but I'll need to get up to WS to check out the action as last trip was 2014. Any recommendations for "must see" go-gos? Preferably where things can get a bit wild.

I wonder if this "crackdown" is election-related. It's only six months away. Current government trying to shore up support with the "moral majority"? -

They are crystal clear and these venues have been warned. Pol Maj Gen Suwanlaong from Region 2 police HQ arrived a week or so ago in some kind of holy mission to clean up Pattaya. TBH I'm surprised his "crackdown" had lasted so long. In the olden days the "big police" would come down for a couple of days, make a big show of enforcing the law, then PDQ back up the coast. Hopefully this little storm will pass soon and thing can get back to normal. Thailand as Singapore just doesn't work for me, or the fun-loving Thais for that matter. -

Treetown is in the designated entertainment zone so 2AM close is legal. Simples. -
Pattaya Police raid Posh 69 club for second time in a week !

Please move to Aceh, I think you'll fit right in. -
This article explains it. It saves the machine state to the hard disk so that when you reboot you don't have to start from scratch. I guess some users like that, especially if they're on older machines that take a while to boot up... https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/windows-11/how-to-enable-or-disable-fast-startup-on-windows-11

rented condo, lease is up in 2 months and I'll be downsizing otherwise yeah I'd be all over it. every time I hear the "clunk" of the unit switching on or off I think, oops, there goes another hundred baht ????

Show off ????

yeah it's not going to be pretty. time to wean myself off the aircon I guess ????
-
I used 687 kWh from 16/10 to 15/11. I nearly fell of me chair when I read the bill because I was actually trying to conserve electricity. must have passed out to many times with the (old, inefficient) aircon on.

Massive Python devours chickens in Pattaya !
Lemsta69 replied to Social Media's topic in Pattaya News
yum yum yum, put them chickens in mah belly ???? must be good being a python, no butchering required and no messy pots and pans to clean up after your post-dinner kip. -
the article says this has happened before. quoting from the article in the link above: "The Foreign Ministry has in the past urged citizens going abroad, many of whom are freshly released from military service, to double-check their luggage to make sure there are no stray bullets." so something real funky going on at the airport if they let these people through with live ammunition. I was thinking about signing up and leaving a comment to that effect but then I thought better of it, I don't want to get cancelled ????

ING Australia no longer offers outgoing international transfers. I've no idea why this is the case but I was quite surprised when I read about it prior to making my move to Thailand last year. Perhaps this Romanian bank doesn't want all the expense and regulatory bother? But my money's on incompetence ????

What vagueness? They have dedicated entertainment zones where the bars are legally allowed to serve alcohol until 2:00 AM. Eg. Patpong, Nana Plaza. -

I really don't think that's the case. The Pol Maj Gen is on a mission and I don't suppose he wants to harm his chances of promotion by taking backhanders. But then, you probably don't even know who I'm talking about. -
