Well, you'd be welcome to try, since, if my homestead had become host to an obviously well-known tourist site, ("At the time of the incident there were 30 others there who paid the fee ") then I'd be either happy to play along with it or It shows that I simply have no interest what-so-ever in what's happening there.

Perhaps these individuals are finding that they are increasingly becoming more scrutinised and held "accountable" for their actions and therefore less able to illicit dubious untraceable payments. Social media and dash-cams not exactly being their friends. 30 million missing, unsuspecting, potential victims not a great help either. -

Agree with your sentiments, however, the very basics of the language are not going to help much in these situations. Nor is it any fault of the hotel staff, who have been handed the onerous task of dealing with these situations and procedures.
