  1. I think Rayong town is a large boring dump, apart from the old area down by the fishing port which is rather interesting to drive around (and easy to get lost in). Nothing much to actually do there though.

The beaches generally are not very nice for sitting on and every time I've been the water has been much too rough for swimming (and none too clean either). Maybe I was just unlucky.

Lots of brand new seafood sala type places down Hat Maerampung Beach (the far side of Rayong). Deserted during the week and heaving with Thais at the weekend, but where isn't?

Cheers for the feedback. The majority of Thailand is a dump in my opinion so I'm not suprised at all. This will probably be my first first and last trip there so I'm gonna go and have a look anwyay. Will prob head for that beach you suggest then with the seafood joints.

If Thailand is such a "Dump" why the "eck" are you here ?????

  2. Hello All!

I am planning a short break in Chiang Mai (4 or 5 days) in July and would like to know the best way to get from the Airport in to center of the city( and cost involved don't want to get ripped off) and recommendations for a descent Hotel in the ฿2000 a night range and of cause the must things to see and do .

    Cheers

  3. Do these locally soursed variants include software showing GPS location, G forces, speed etc that provide additional evidence when needed? I imported my cam from overseas doing all of these things & I'm curious as to whether the local ones provide the same data. The only disadvantage is that the software requires a 13" screen therefore cannot be used to view on anything smaller (Netbook/I Pad/Phone) because the buttons are below the field of view.

    It has a warranty too:)

The ones we are talking about are just the cheap models. I'm sure you could get one with these features, but it'll be quite a bit more expensive. What did you pay for yours back home????

I asked about one with these features and they do sell them price quoted to me ฿7000 +

  4. I always show my Thai driving license when going to this beach and always get to same Answer "Farang pay ฿80"...

I might be wrong but I heard somewhere that Sai Kaew Beach is only open to the general public on weekdays and weekends and Thai holidays are for military personal and families only .

  5. Just one question.

If one is not mechanically inclined, where do you get it installed? Or is it a stickm' type thing that you stick on the dash and plugs into the cigarette lighter?

The one I bought has a suction pad to attach to the windscreen ( easy to remove and hide in the glove compartment if you are parked in a dodgy part of time ) it is powered by a rechargeable battery and the cigarette lighter. I have a Mitsu Triton and it was quite easy to conceal the power cable (it took me less 5 mins)

    Cheers

  6. Tuk com .is located on Pattaya Tai (South Pattaya road). opposite the junction with Soi Buakow there's a large branch of K Bank next door to Tukcom.

Shop located 4th floor ....Where I got the SD card from the shop is called banana (it's bright yellow and near the escalator) the shop were I got the dash cam from is next to banana shop to the left rear of it .but there's several other shops selling them at the same price (after-all this is Thailand lol)

  7. Car Dash cam on sale at tukcom ฿900 reduced from ฿2000...no SD card at the sale price but I bought a 16 gb SD card for ฿369 the card is good for 10hrs recording at the highest quality setting.

I've just done a road test and the overall performance and picture quality was very good when it was viewed back though my PC..it has a built in 2 1/4 inch screen but this is more for setting it up than viewing (in my opinion).

just thought I'd pass this on too those thinking of getting a dash cam .

  8. Even after loosing approx 28% of my monthly income(over the last 4 yrs) due to the exchange rate and world fiscal farce. NO way on Earth could I afford to buy a Large 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Villa with a largish swimming pool with built-in spa .run a new car and 2 new motorbikes ,eat out when I please and live to a moderate standard ( (for gods sake my local council tax was ฿8700/£177 per month back in the UK and thats not expensive )

So yes on every level Thailand is cheaper for me and long may it last (PLEASE)

  9. Hello all ! I am going to buy a dash cam for my and motor bike (for obvious reasons ) and would like to hear first hand from people who've gone one ......Model ,price how good it is etc......is it worth spend the extra ฿ and getting one with a GPS and G force meter ?

    cheers

  10. Given up trying to find good quality ribs ....I now buy rack of rids from Makro ......Pre boil them with onions, carrot, celery and some herbs & spice(until tender).......make up your own BBQ sauce ....then throw them on the BBQ with some hickory wood chips (if you have them for added flavour) cook and smoother with the BBQ sauce 10 before serving .....preferred accompaniment good friend .ice cold beer all sat round my pool ...it don't get much better than that .

  11. I lived for 6 months high end serviced apartment hotel, and went stir crazy .So I then rented a double condo for 3 month and again nearly went stir crazy...Ended up buying a new house with nice sized swimming pool and generous sized garden and I must say it feels more at home and not longer need to hit the town every night for my entertainment (saved 00.000's ฿ in the process)

A house is great for entertaining friends outside BBQ's etc ...and I know that my pool is clean and hygienic too. So all in all I would recommend a house over a apartment or a condo any day.

Security is not a problem (to date ) I have 80+ pound Pitbull which has full access to all area's and sleeps out side during the night or when we are out........

  12. Hi All!

I am looking to buy a E-collar dog training aide has anyone got any idea where I can buy one from?(in or around the Pattaya area) and a rough price guide?.

Not looking to start a debate of the ethics of using a E collar.... it is just another training aide and if used properly a dam_n good one at that .

    Cheers.

  13. I have a European standard alarm .24/7 security and a 40kg pit bull..But saying that the PIR sensors on the alarm system does not work so well when the ambient temperature reaches about human body temperature it can not pick up the temperature difference on any motion so does not set off the alarm ......,but the dogs takes up the slack ..
