  1. Courtesy of those who must be obeyed I had a post removed showing a Bang Saray forum web link ......so to find the web link yourself Google "Bang Saray forum" and it will take you to the said forum.....it's only a smallish site but you might find it useful..

Bang Saray it a nice place to live but it is growing at a staggering pace ..4/5 maybe more sets of condo's being built as we speak ....

  2. How many poster on this Topic have actually take the time to talk to a Russian tourist or Expat???? I have always found then to be just as polite as any other nationality.

Do not confuse the harshness of the Russian /east block language with arrogance it is just a tonal issue and if you take the time to get to know the average 'Joe' Russian he is not much different to you or I ...

They like you/I are just here to enjoy themselves just because they don't not frequent the same bars as you does not make them any less of a person ...Get to know a person first don't just listen and re-quote to bar stool Bigotry

  3. Has any one thought it might just be condo fatigue ...small uninviting living conditions . noisy neighbours .bad landlords etc etc etc ...you never read/hear of a owner of a nice villa in a nice area jumping out of there ground floor window in an attempt to end it all ....it just has to be "Condo fever"

  4. Khun Thai's Like to hold there cards very close to there chest .. it's not that they are being deceitful it's just they way some of them are (Not all some)..Just ask a few question you might even be surprised with the answers you get...

Remember Wars have started by second guessing what people are getting up too... it's better to talk things through than fight or run....

A couple of months ago I slight cash flow problem (A hiccup really) And without hesitation my GF offered to sell her gold to help us through which really meant a lot to me knowing how much it means to here coming from a humble Thai back ground ( I never took her up on her kind offer but it was nice to be asked)

  5. different strokes for different folks....I dont see why an able body Man would want to retire @ forty-something...if you dont like your job why not change job. do something you like other than coming to waste your life here...your call though.

Why should anyone work if they don't need to ???? it's just the big brother business telling us you need to work ...and why because they want you to buy into buying they produces...it's a western thing .......waste your time here now that's a joke from someone who can't relax....have you not realises they don't want you to stop working they just want you to keep spending your hard earned money buy they naff crap

  6. I know where you are coming from ...I spent 21 yrs doing the same job and I got out 10 yrs ago aged 45....and came out here at 50 and have not looked back since....ones physical and mental health will improve within 6 mth of leaving the job ...anyone who's not worked in that kind of environment will have no idea of the stress you go through on a daily basis. At the end of the daily it's got to be a personal choice for you.....but all I can say it was the right move for me .....but one bit of advice I'll give you is leave the job and live a stress free for a few month before making any life changing decisions ...a choice made while under stress is not always a wise one

What ever you do I wish you well

    Take care

  7. cheesy.gif Rather like a visit to the pharmacy then!

If anyone does know and in the unlikely event we can conclude that it's non-toxic to humans, I think all pool ownesr here will want to know where to buy it. That's on the assumption it's going to be far cheaper than the 850 baht I usually pay for a few litres of pool algaecide/clarifier

    I paid ฿ 150 for a 2kg bag and 1kg is enough to clear my pool ( 8 x 4 x 1.5 ) in approx 6 hrs

  8. Hi All ...about twice a year when then weather changes my pool seeming to go cloudy I treat the water with a Yellow chemical I was told to us from the Pool supply shop .....It work a bloody treat within 6 hours the water is crystal clear again.....but every time I ask what is the actual chemical I am using I get the same Thai answer "YELLOW CHEMICAL it's yellow chemical" .

Has anyone got any idea what the chemicals true name is so I can research it and actually know what I am putting in my pool.

    Cheers

  9. May i suggest you buy some of the small local cherry Tomatoes from any of the markets around pats (price ฿ 10>15 for a bag) and dry out in the sun 5 or 6 of the most health and juicy looking tomatoes and use the seeds from them ....At least you'll get tommies that will grow in the Thai climate .

But if they have used F1 hybrid seeds to grow the cherry toms you will not get the same tomatoes type as you bought from the market and dried out ,,,,,,, pot look I am afraid

  10. May I suggest that you buy a automatic home blood pressure monitor and take your blooded pressure at different times throughout the day( sit down and relax for 10 to 15 minutes prior for a more reliable reading)..then make a dairy of these reading ( B/P,pulse rate, time etc) for at least one week a bit longer would be better and armed with these reading the doctor will be better able to assess your B/P problems.

The stress of a hospital/doctors visit can artificially raise your B/P and thus give a false high reading this is known as "White coat syndrome".

No matter what advice you get from me or anyone else on Thaivisa don't delay seeing a health care practitioner for too long.

    Good health and Take care

  11. I got a good quality handed made leather one from the Thepprasit Nightmarket there's a row of pet supply stalls to the back of where all the food stalls are ,,,The stall in the middle of the row has the best selection ..they start to open just after 4pm ...go then before it gets busy it's easier to park and not really crowded.

it's worth haggling the price too.

  12. Hi All .....My Brother Printer/scanner/fax machine (MFC250) needs servicing....the ink flow on a couple of the colours seems to be blocked and needs flushing or cleaning out can anyone please recommend somewhere which could do this.......Please don't just say Tuk Com can you say which floor and the name of the shop ....I don't fancy lugging it from one shop to another on the off chance that one of them can do it.

    Thanks in anticipation Cheers

  13. RabC I would be very keen to know where you actually got a 1.5Tb disk for 3000 baht

Soutpeel So would I......I bought a 1 T disk and it cost around THB 5k

Check out Tesco Lotus ...."Acer hard drive" 1.5 TB that's where I bought mine from about 7 months ago ... I definitely did not pay any more than ฿3500. that's why I said ฿3000 'ish'

  14. Yes I was there in August.......you can get a city saver ticket that let's you visit various attractions at a discounted price. I flew in with Airasia and when I presented my flight ticket to the ticket office I got a very substantial discount, though I can't remember exactly how much it was to be honest.

The theme park is ok, no more than that, anyone who has been to the theme parks in the US would be disappointed, although there are some highpoint attractions such as The Mummy, to my recollection I went through the park in about three hours, again in the parks in the US that would never happen. It would take you a whole day to traverse Universal Studios Orlando, and you would happily go back.

On the other hand, it's a good start for Singapore, it may develop into something more. I would suggest you also visit the Singapore Flyer, and try to get on that after night falls, that is quite spectacular and well worth the money, apparently if you have a mastercard and you pre-book you get a discount of about 20%?? Have a look at the Singapore Flyer website for special offers.

On a Friday and a Sunday you have the horse racing at the Singapore Turf Club, it's at the far side of the island but the MRT is quick and efficient. Entry is quite cheap, and tourists must use the gold lounge. The good news is that the gold lounge is excellent, air conditioned, and the food and drink are cheap by Singapore standards. A great night out.

I tend to stay in an area called Geylang, it's the red light / Chinese immigrant area. I agree that the hotels in Singapore are vastly over-priced so I use one called the Amrise, which is cheap, clean and efficient, although the rooms are tiny ( and I mean tiny ). However I take the attitude that it's only a clean bed and shower I'm after as there is plenty to see in Singapore to keep you out all day. There is an excellent street cafe vibe going on in Geylang, mainly Chinese food, and the beer is fairly priced by Singapore standards, expect to pay about $5.50 ( Singapore dollars ) for a large Carlsberg, I think that's a fair price compared to most developed cities.

Be careful Downtown though, around Raffles and City Hall area they know how to charge, so keep an eye on your spending. There are is an excellent park called Fort Canning about 5 minutes walk from City Hall MRT with an area called the Battle Box that tells the story of the Fall of Singapore, and the park is lovely. Singapore Art Museum is worth a visit, particularly after 6.00pm on a Friday as it is free admission. The National Museum of Singapore is superb, allocate at least three hours to visit it, and more if you can, when you see it you will know why.

Going back to Sentosa Island, there is plenty to do there, and I believe there is a decent beach however I didn't get a chance to visit it. Tourists also get free access to the giant casino at Sentosa so if you like a flutter carry on......it's well worth a look

By the way, don't get the airport taxi....walk downstairs and get on the MRT, that will get you into the city within 15 minutes and it is cheap, most tourists stay around the Orchard Street area, and Little India and Chinatown are nearby.......though I prefer the rough and ready real Chinatown in Geylang.

You can easily spend 7 days in Singapore, especially if you are a history buff and want to visit Changi Prison and the Old Ford Factory.....enjoy your trip!!

Thank you very much for your comprehensive reply.cheers

  15. WOW !!! some people seem to forget this is a tropical country and heavy down pours are the normal not the exception ....I would challenge any country in the world both developed and developing to cope with sudden large deluges without some kind of localised flooding

Is it that some people just like to complain for complaining s sake....I reckon the same people would complain that the Sahara Desert is too dry and why isn't the local mayor doing his "cloud dance" to summon the rains Gods.
