  1. Trying to defeat mother nature is a hard task, frought with failures. She will win the end.
  2. UK news outlets are saying that there will be an announcement this Thursday 7 October by PM office, reducing the red list from 54 countries to just 9. Let us hope for a positive outcome for UK nationals wishing to go to the UK to see relatives and take care of other affairs.
  3. Yes, its "I" know a lot more that have ...... not a statistical thing
  4. I have been here through all of that. I know a lot more that left than have stayed though mainly because it was a lot easier to get good well paid work back then. Saying that, did more leave before this current schema or after I don't know as COVID has had quite an impact. I find, in Bangkok, that theres a core who have been here a long time, many more transients (not looking for full time long term employment) than before. In regards the politics, its a lot more in your face now I find, but is that just the change in media and media accessibility? I dont know but I find in my own circle theres a lot who have had enough and are planning to venture to new fields (1st world mainly). I think development and prices have more affect on that than politics though. One thing I do notice with myself, I always had "hope" for Thailand changing in certain ways, no that "hope" is gone I feel, and that loss of hope is because of the politics and corruption.
  5. Does not affect Thais, they are billed at the lowest rate. Next rate is Asean, then non-asean with work permit, then tourist/retired.
  6. But thats how it works, Customs can set their own valuation in just about any country. Its to avoid undervaluing for avoidance of duty/VAT. Doesn't matter whats on the shipping docs. Just last week we had a an article here on same subject for wine and that customs were building a wine valuation database to prevent under valuing by importers.
  7. So I assume the question is does a variable rate card break a "LAW". Its very dodgy ground legally. Wrong but legally speaking dodgy to judge.
  8. I read it myself its probably section 27 ...... Section 27. All persons are equal before the law, and shall have rights and liberties and be protected equally under the law. Men and women shall enjoy equal rights. Unjust discrimination against a person on the grounds of differences in origin, race, language, sex, age, disability, physical or health condition, personal status, economic and social standing, religious belief, education, or political view which is not contrary to the provisions of the Constitution, or on any other grounds shall not be permitted.
  9. Does anyone know what part of the constitution was referred to in the suit? The judge will have ruled on law, so even if we don't agree with the sentiment we should know what actual law is being adjudged.
  10. “Proactive Justice for the People’s Happiness” Hahahhahhahhahhhahhahhaaaahhhahhhahhahhhhahhahhahhhahhhhhahhahhhhahhahhhahhahhahhhahhhahhhahhhahah. A good laugh was had by all.
  11. I was going to post something snarky, but its quite cute really. He is happy, thats all that counts.
  12. I suspect the only stress was on the "investigators" as the "accused" probably outrank them socially.
  13. Have you seen the US one, I could fake that myself :+}
  14. I will bite.... Why "England" and not "United Kingdom". Such a mistake makes you question the credibility of the writer. Its an affront to the UK nations ignored as well.
  15. I just want a drink with friends in a place that is not my back garden, the sods have killed all my plants by peeing in the pots. Keeps next doors cat at bay though.
  16. We all know it will be left till the 11th hour. However, a mega project would mean lots of available lucre so who knows.
  17. I can't see me ever going back to them unless they can offer better than the rest at cheaper than the rest which is obviously never going to happen. I quite enjoy my leg stretch in the Middle East these days.
  18. I don't want to confuse you anymore so I am off for some breakfast. Take care dear.
  19. Of course they would accept it, thats why I used the word humorous and added a smiling face. BUT Thai AZ is not on the WHO list. And from the front page of AZ Thailand website (this morning) in relation to THAI astra: "To make it easier for more governments to recognize, for travel purposes, vaccines that are manufactured across AstraZeneca’s worldwide network, we aim to secure World Health Organisation Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) for manufacturing sites, including Siam Bioscience."
  20. That poses a humorous conflict for some Thailand based travellers as Thai AZ is not recognised by the WHO :+)
  21. Legally the invoice can be just a person, but I would ask the employer if they are OK with it, its been a few years since I was paid from the UK.
  22. For me : Grab/Bolt? I round up but about 10% Grab food delivery? Nothing. Restaurant? If service charge zero. If no service charge then I leave some the change. Foot massage? Only the dog is allowed to lick my feet If paying by credit card I never tip.
