  1. Get two dogs. That will be 4 times as effective.
  2. @JoJo Thai doesn't a TOU meter need two separate meter readings? I can only see one on the picture you posted of a TOU meter with a spinning disk.
  3. Yes, I am. PEA adds the two usages and bills me for the total. It's about 10-20 ฿ a month extra
  4. What is the brand of your inverter? I have a AlphaEss Smile T10-HV-INV inverter. We are also set to NO EXPORT and have a digital meter. However the software provided by Alpha ESS still shows a small amount of feed-in AKA export. It amounts to about 2-4 KwH a month. Coincidentally, our bill shows two meter readings each with a separate usage. One of the usage figures closely matches what the AlphaESS software shows as our grid consumption and the other is about the same as our feed-in numbers. Since the "extra" amount is so small I haven't bothered to yet go to PEA and get an explanation. I have concluded that the extra reading is in fact a record of our export.
  5. ???? Thanks for all the effort. That relay seems to check all the boxes. ????
  6. Looks like 8A.
  7. In 2013 my stepson (born in USA but dual Thai citizen) married a Thai and applied to take his bride to USA. He had lived in Thailand for about 25 years. His mother and I wrote a letter saying we would support the new wife as needed. The son and daughter in law did the application for her visa without any lawyer or agent's assistance. It took about 8 months from start to finish. Within 2 weeks of her arrival in USA she had a green card valid for only 2 years. After 3 years she became a US citizen. Since the MAGA epidemic the demand for permanent resident status and US citizenship has sky rocketed, so processing times are longer now. I wish you well and hope you can get the visa quickly!
  8. Thanks, I didn't know that a simple relay is all I really need. My electrical knowledge is basically zero. So would something like this would suffice? https://www.lazada.co.th/products/30a-t9as1d22-12-1240vac-30244-i4702370558.html?spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.26.4466708adoxnho
  9. I have a Rain Bird irrigation controller to open and close the sprinkler valves using 24v AC solenoids. The irrigation controller can also control the pump using a 24v AC pump control switch that will close/open the 230V circuit and start/stop the pump. My Lazada/AliExpress search skills are inadequate to find me the right kind of switch. Can somebody find one or suggest the best search terms? I'm in CM so maybe a seller at Kham Thiang Garden market may have what I want.
  10. Here's the promised pictures of our acrylic countertops installed. I tried to select the pictured areas to depict the more challenging portions of the installation. I apologize for the less than ideal lighting.
  11. I haven't come across anyone selling Corian, but there are definitely very similar products from competing brands such as LG, Samsung, Caesarstone and a few other brands. We just had 5 bathroom and 5 kitchen (2 houses) countertops made using Hanex, another brand from SKorea. There is also a brand made in Thailand, but I cannot locate their info at the moment. Our installers had a lot of experience and did a good job. They don't use the most up to date tools and methods but the result is still very good. They do very good coved joints between the top and backsplash. Their seams are invisible when joining pieces because they use a color matched glue. They have a sales office in CM but their shop and workers are located in Bangkok. I'll get to posting pictures tomorrow of their work.
  12. I think Thailand does have many restaurants serving great Western food... the problem is you have to "kiss a lot of frogs" during your search. Having lived in Canada/US most of my life, I would stop looking for better restaurants once I found places that were good enough. In Thailand it often takes longer to find food/service that I classify as good enough. I guess that may be one of my top 5 frustrations with life in Thailand.
  13. My friend bought this one from Shopee and is happy. It is a tankless system and the filters and membrane are easily replaced. It requires a power outlet as it has a pump. I will be buying the same model shortly. https://shopee.co.th/เครื่องกรองน้ำPhilips-Water-AUT2015-ดีไซน์หัวก็อกแบบคู่-ระบบกรอง-2-โหมด-สำหรับน้ำบริสุทธิ์และกรองดื่มได้-i.41904241.20443256989?sp_atk=1bae89a9-880d-4a5f-be92-29208be5c193&xptdk=1bae89a9-880d-4a5f-be92-29208be5c193
  14. We still have the two useage numbers on our bill. I haven't had the time to drag the stepson to PEA to translate the explanation for me. The Alpha ESS system shows almost the same #'s as the PEA bill, grid consumption 137.5 and feed-in back to grid 12.3. Total consumption according to our inverter was 844.9 with 718.1 coming from our approx 11Kw solar installation.
  15. I think Thai Conch has double glazed windows. https://goo.gl/maps/ewdKxc1qy5tCQLHf7 It's located on the 700 year road just South of the junction with route 1006. She also does shower glass and mirrors.
  16. I have several financial apps for institutions outside of Thailand. They all seem to not bother to check my location when using them. It is likely that the financial institution assumes I'm on vacation or they just don't care. Generally a smartphone's physical location is available to a smartphone app. The "polite" apps ask the user for permission to access, but I hesitate to assume that those apps that don't ask are not grabbing the phones location data anyway.
  17. Is that "communist" as in monopolistic capitalism? Is it better if you actually understand the pejoratives you bandy about?
  18. Luckily (haha) I met and married a professional gambler about a year after I decided to pursue the same career. She had already been a professional poker player for years and was adding the game I was focused on to her repertoire. She was a new face to me as I already knew most of the full time professionals that pursued the same source of income. I asked her where she learned to play and she played dumb as she preferred everyone to think she was just a recreational gambler. Later this year we will celebrate our 24th anniversary.
  19. Typically accounts accrue interest based on the daily balance but only pay out the interest semi-annually. These accounts are described as interest accrues daily and is compounded semi-annually.
  20. Is your GV # linked to your Thai phone number or did you simply install the GV app and use it on the phone that you use in Thailand? I don't think it's possible to have GV route a call to your Thai phone number. My setup is that I use the GV app on the iPhone that I brought with me to Thailand when I moved from USA.
  21. One of the most comprehensive weather summary sites: https://weatherspark.com/m/112821/10/Average-Weather-in-October-in-Chiang-Mai-Thailand#Figures-PrecipitationProbability
  22. We bought a gallon of vinegar @Makro but it was only 5%. Did you find a stronger version there?
  23. I haven't seen where I can find the accrued interest on my SCB EZ Savings account. Most banks accrue the interest daily based on closing balance. The banks then pay out the interest semi-annually. You are correct in that there is no interest earned on the accrued interest until it is actually deposited into the account twice yearly. The above method is typically described as: interest accrued daily and compounded semi-annually. For the SCB EZ account, the 1.5% interest rate compounded semi-annually, the annual rate (APR) is actually 1.5% + (.75% X .75%) or 1.505625%
  24. Ideally the countertop should opening have a very small overhang that will somewhat conceal the joint between the ceramic sink and the acrylic countertop that needs to be sealed with silicon. That's why I was hoping for a bit where the bearing diameter could be changed. As it is, they are using free hand router style to estimate/guestimate the appropriate overhang.
