  1. As Jessi advised.... http://www.ozforex.com.au/

I've been using them every month for ages. Great service at minimal cost.

Don't use an Aussie bank..... way, way too expensive.

    Cheers..... Mal.[/

I do an internet transfer with my ANZ account, A$15 to transfer up to $10,000, which is my daily limit.

Next time, check the ANZ exchange rate against Ozforex. Often quite a difference. But the plus is ANZ transfer is much quicker.

    Just sayin..... Cheers..... Mal.

Send the money over in AUD - nothing to do with ANZ rates.

Sh$$t when will you guys learn to do your homework!

  2. If you are after getting a bike licence then you will also have to learn "The Flap" before you venture out on the roads.

I am sure there are many members on this forum who would be more than willing to give you a few pointers on the exact eticate of this remarkable signal.

  3. Well some nice chap reversed into the side of my pick up leaving some minor repairs to the wheel arch area.

Anyone know a trustworthy and cheap panel beater shop preferably Chalong area?

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry should read panel beater - cannot edit title.

  4. Have a written receipt for every Baht you

    Contributed to the:house,condo,car

Motorbike that were purchased. Get a good

Lawyer ....lucky if you get 10%...TIT your

    Screwed

bullscrap. i know several guys that got divorced in Thailand. The courts were fair to them. you are right TIT this is not the west where a guy gets screwed.Thai law says assets are split 50/50

the stories you hear of guys getting screwed are the ones where the guy is being stupid. Builds a house and put is in his girlfriends name, buys car, motorcycle etc all in her name and never gets married so these is no divorce so difficult to go to court. If they do get married then the guy never tries and fight to get anything, just believe as he always has what is wife tells him that he cant get anything and goes away with his tale between his legs. i feel bad for allot of these guys that come to Thailand and loose everything, but in reality they only have themselves to blame, they dont think and protect themselves which they should never build a house or only buying a condo in his name, car his name etc. or only rent.

Completely agree with you Ericthai. I too know a few guys in the same boat - in actual fact I see one every time I look into the mirror. I actually came out with way more than 50% as ex had no idea how much I actually earned!

  5. to paraphrase a famous Aussie

That's not a BBQ this is a BBQ

    attachicon.gifCapture1.JPG

Nice...and true...but I think the South Africans might resent it...that's clearly a braai.

Ah but I had to call it a BBQ as the the vast majority of TV's finest experts wouldn't have clue what I was talking about, you will note I referred to "rolled sausage" as a another poster termed it as well and not boerewors...

Further we are not allowed to post in other languages but the full name for a Braai is "Braaivleis" which literally means "grilled meat"

so I am sure my brethren will forgive me for enlightening the uneducated masses as to the joys of good boerewors and Braaivleis by referring to it as a BBQ and rolled sausage

Next you will have to let them know what Soutpeel really means.

  6. I want to put my house up for sale and am looking for somewhere that can print me a few of those all weather plastic signs to put up on the road.

I am in Chalong but am prepared to travel.

  7. Went to Phuket town on Thursday to register my address and 90 days. Whilst registering my address I commented that I also had to do my 90 day after and the officer promptly said no problem I do it for you now.

Got both done and was out the door in about 20 mins.

    Pretty happy.

  8. Khun Saiyun

    Tel 08-53340500

Thanks for that. Called him and he was here in the hour, temp fix to the leak and gave me a quote for the while job as have to replace some wood in the cabinets.

So far so good and will report back on final job in a week or so.

  9. My daughter is studying at an International School here in Phuket which follows the American Common Core programme.

We intend to move back to Australia in a year or 2 so I am interested if anyone has any knowledge of whether she will be ahead or behind in her schooling once we return to Australia? This with the 6 month difference in school start dates between Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

She is only 4 now so I am looking at basically Grades 1 and 2 when we return.

  10. In desperate need of help here. I have tried the local Burmese mob, the local odd job man and have tried at least a dozen times myself but the b&$stard thing still spews water and has rotted out the wooden cabinets below.

I really need a contact for someone who KNOWS what to do to fix the leak and replace the cabinet before I start a fish farm in the kitchen.

I am in Chalong by the way.

Thanks in advance for any sensible advice/help.

  11. Thanks a lot for the help, (IsGeorge, myfriend I, ubonjoe)....Not much to find on net about Amphoe Seka but glad they have a few roadside motels.....

I can survive on Moo Kata and Leo if need be 555

saowaluk villa resort I found prior but they do not answer phone or emails so maybe gone now...

The Agoda types and Google for Seka actually pulls up hotels in Nong Khai city and Bueng Kan which are 90KM and 161 KM away from Amphoe Seka as if someone would want to drive that distance back and forth to a hotel...

I have been flying in to my Korat (Chakkarat) home for the past 5 years every 2 months for 2 week visits but my GF is wanting to spend some time closer to her aging parents in Seka....

I will make sure and post info on the area in July so others can more easily find info for the area...

I suspect I will be making frequent trips to Nong Khai and U Thani out of boredom each visit to Seka 555

    Thanks again...Mahalo!

    Your GF's parents don't have a house?

  12. Ton of housing in the Soi Palai area, get to the Honda shop and head down those sois headed toward Chalong Bay. Regarding the beach, Chalong Bay, not so great. If you want beach this side look into Nai Harn area, also Yannui there are some rentals available and this is a really great area, quick ride to Rawai Beach and all the restaurants there.

Yeah driving through Chalong Circle to and from work every day is a great option!

  13. Having looked all over this part of Isaan the only good EP I found was at Assumption School in Korat Town. They have an EP all the way to M.3 and the kids can stay on site if required.

thanks, i would love my kids go there but it's far and i don't want they stay there.

Your kids education is the priority is it not?

  14. How big a problem is fish theft?

From what I've read on here, it is a very big problem, but it probably depends on the area your fish farm is in. It sounds like someone needs to be 'on guard' pretty much 24 hours a day.

Well well some thieving bast$rd decided to help himself to a whole heap of my fish from my top pond last night. Good timing on his behalf as we are just about to wall the place in and leave the dogs there overnight. Must have read my mind - anyway another day in downtown Isaan I suppose.
