  1. I require an official translation of mariage registry certificate from Thai to English. Any one know of any translators in Mahasarakham or Khon Kaen that can do this and have the "stamp" to add to the translated papers..?

Thanks in advance as really dont want to have to go all the way to Bangkok for this.

  2. Here we go I am in process of selling my car and believe I require a certificate of residence from immigration.

What paperwork do I require to take in for this? I am here on retirement extension and already have a paper in my passport notifying them of the "Aliens" residence.

  3. I have been offered a position in Australia which requires me to work for 8 days and then have 6 days off on a regular basis.

My question is if I then fly in and out of Thailand every 2 weeks can I do this with visa exempt stamps or will I require some other form of visa?

I worked this roster before while on an extension through retirement but don't really want the hassle of getting another extension of stay if not neccessary.

  4. Well I bought a few of them today, 20 baht each. They only had sizes 6,7,8 and 9, whatever that means, so got one of each. I presume a float, then a few inches of line to the bait ball and all is go. Will give them a go when I get up to the farm in a few weeks time. You never know when you will learn a new trick!!

  5. Saw som guys fishing with what looked like a fine net on the end of their lines. A bait ball attracts the fish and then they get their fins entangled in the net.

Anyone able to enlighten me as to exactly how this works as I didn't get too close a look at what they were doing.

I have thousands of small tilapia in one of our dams and would love an easy/ fun way of catching them. At present I use a cast net but the really small ones escape through the mesh.

    PatongPhil,

It's hard to say, but if you submit the Online Application for your wife's visitor visa, within a few minutes she will receive an email notification of receipt of the application and more than likely a request to visit VFS to submit the biometric identifiers. Since your wife's immigration application would have a different file number when compared with her visitor visa application, I think it's quite likely she will need to submit biometric identifiers again separately for the visitor visa.

Just an update on this. I sent an email to VFS asking them and the reply was that each and every application requires biometrics to be done regardless of previous applications, history etc. so it is back to Bangkok for us again.

I wonder if they thought this through?

Last year it was 2 weeks (that I was told, no doubt others will differ), this year it was back to 6 weeks. My advice always go in early and make enquiries to find out the current state of affairs as you never know what spanner may be thrown in the works. better to ask the horse's mouth as opposed to the..............:passifier:

Merijn is the horse's mouth in case you were unaware.??

Had a nice feed at  Hogfathers last night, 3 meals(2 x pulled pork, 1 x ribs), 2 beers (Heinys) and a bottle of water baht1020 the lot, decent sized feed and nice location.

If your a local and plan on going get there soon, it's the best time as there was a good breeze all night and the tables are outdoors.

Visitor time of year coming up soon so will add it to the places to take people.

Also visited. Shared the sampler plate with missus. Found ribs about average, the pulled pork was too sweet for me but the brisket was really good, otherwise agree a good "change" place in the area for locals.

Will keep on being a regular at Ajarn restaurant though, for their excellent and cheap Thai food.

The big hardware store on Chao Fa East. Coming from the circle just past the Muay Thai street. There is always a Weber guy there.

Thanks Valentine. Went there today and yes there was a Weber guy there who was helpful. All sorted now except for approx. amount of chlorine for first fill.

  10. A pretty standard medical required for employment on the mines in Australia. Includes urine test for various things, audio metric test, eye test and then various tests for physical capabilities. I had a form from prospective employer which required certain things. Only thing they couldn't do was the spirometric tests.

  11. Anyone know where I can get either Weber or Crocodile Platinum swimming pool  grout in Phuket, preferably Chalong area?

While I am at it any idea approximately how many kg of chlorine per cubic.m of water for a first fill, after regrouting.
