Any leads on where I can get a car to rent for about 6 weeks from Early December to late January.
Pick up and drop off Khon Kaen airport if possible.
Smallish car, automatic and full insurance.

If you are married or have a Thai girlfriend then don't forget to get the house checked for ghosts!!!

Thanks for all replies and help. Looks like I should be fine with new passport and old passport with visa and stamps etc.
I will be coming back to Thailand in November and passport expires in June 2018 so wish to get new one before as much easier from here. My current extension of stay and re-entry permit expires in mid December so shpuld have sufficient time in Thailand to renew, transfer etc.

Cannot find related topic. I am in Perth and will be getting a new passport while I am here. Will then require to transfer my visa and extension before returning to Thailand. Anyone done this before or can point me in the right direction?
Cheers.

Congratulations, mate. Well, there is hope for us on the waiting list to get the partner visa sooner than later. How long after applying for the visa did the Embassy ask you to have te medical for the missus done?
3 months after first application were asked for medical and police check.

Norlund,
Thanks for that, was exactly what I did. Strange how the same medicines cost 3 times as much as in Australia. We live and learn.

Looking to get some prescription medicines so am seeking a large well stocked pharmacy in the Maha Sarakham area.
Cheers

Well as it hapened I went into my bank to get the required letter for immigraton and whilst there asked the lady serving me where I could get copies made. She promptly said we can do them for you and proceeded to make all the copies required for the princely sum of ZERO baht.
Hats off to the main branch of Ayudyha bank in the city centre and thanks to others for replies.

Ha ha sorry to laugh but exactly what we ran into on monday. Pay 1,600 baht and you get it in a week, don't pay and at least 30 days.
Officialdom at its best!!!!
Aussie embassy give 28 days to produce documents, great way to force us all into the clutches of the greedy.
Everyone I saw whilst there paid the money - probably to comply with embassy requirements.

Anyone know where I can get some photocopies done in Mahasarakham city? My printer just died on me and am due to visit immigration shortly.

On Tuesday, November 08, 2016 at 2:04 PM, Bob9 said:Good point - but it is not breaking the law. The Aust Govt (inc Centrelink/ATO) does not legally recognise a Thai marriage. To be 'legally' married in Australian Law you have to have gone through all the paperwork and lodged it all officially. If you merely do the local Thai wedding and not the Aust Embassy stuff, then you are married in Thailand but you are not technically married in Australia. But your point about taking your wife back to Australia is right - to do that you will need to officiallly lodge the paperwork and then you are officially married in Australia and the Thai wife can apply to come to Australian as your Partner. So unless you are going to take the Thai wife to Australia as more than a Visitor, then you do not need to advise the Aust Govt - because if you do, even if you are not officially married, the feminazis at CLink will reduce your pension/payments.
Rubbish. You do not have to do anything at the Embassy. A Thai marriage registered at the Amphur is legally binding in Thailand and is fully recognised in Australia.

Is it possible to do the Thai police check without actually attending their office in Bangkok? Seems a bit of a hassle to actually have to go in person for someone to just check the records.

I require an official translation of mariage registry certificate from Thai to English. Any one know of any translators in Mahasarakham or Khon Kaen that can do this and have the "stamp" to add to the translated papers..?
Thanks in advance as really dont want to have to go all the way to Bangkok for this.

Here we go I am in process of selling my car and believe I require a certificate of residence from immigration.
What paperwork do I require to take in for this? I am here on retirement extension and already have a paper in my passport notifying them of the "Aliens" residence.

I have been offered a position in Australia which requires me to work for 8 days and then have 6 days off on a regular basis.
My question is if I then fly in and out of Thailand every 2 weeks can I do this with visa exempt stamps or will I require some other form of visa?
I worked this roster before while on an extension through retirement but don't really want the hassle of getting another extension of stay if not neccessary.

Well I bought a few of them today, 20 baht each. They only had sizes 6,7,8 and 9, whatever that means, so got one of each. I presume a float, then a few inches of line to the bait ball and all is go. Will give them a go when I get up to the farm in a few weeks time. You never know when you will learn a new trick!!

Any recommendations for a cheapish (max $50) hotel near the lake in Khon Kaen? Must have parking as well.
