My 9 year old daughter loves our annual trips to Thailand except for all the stares and grabbing from all the Yais she gets when we go shopping or to the markets.
She doesn't look Thai at all and thus is a bit of an "oddity" in the provinces.
When in Phuket never has a problem.

Why don't you go live with your wife and son?

Surely with all the many TVF members from all over the world someone has been found positive for Covid 19 by now?
Or at least know someone directly who has.
Seem to be a disproportionate amount of "celebrities" catching it too!!

When I watch an old movie or TV program and a bunch of people are together, I catch myself thinking, "Hey, they're not practicing social distancing. Why are they all so close to each other?"
There are already movies with social distancing in them????????????????????

You weren't responding to a post of mine. But given what you said, I'm kinda curious -- do you really believe wearing an amulet or doing Buddhist chanting is going to protect you from contracting some illness?
A few years back our daughter was pretty ill with some form of virus or something. Anyway wife and family took her off to the next village where there is a very important monk.
He chanted away for a few minutes, tied the obligatory strings around the wrists and sent them on their way.
As we were leaving he pulled me over and asked in pretty good English if we had been to the hospital. When I confirmed that we had he smiled and said "good"
Anyway daughter recovered overnight and his status was confirmed yet again in the local community.
Sometimes better to cover all bases!!!

my experience with loaning money to Thais is you wont get it back .as they bloods thicker than water !!!
Strange but I have leant money to family members on a few occasions and always got it back.
Latest was B250,000 for an Etan to be paid back at B5,000 a month. Here we are just short of 3 years later and that B5,000 has arrived in my bank account every month.
Your experiences do not mirror mine.

Glad you found a good women but why is his comment crazy when you admitted your first Thai wife sounds basically insane. I am sure she did not show those signs prior or else you would not have married her.
Women can turn quickly especially here where family and friends are number one. And once they have the house, cars, and motorbikes and know they can own 1/2 of your assets.
So. I guess the odds are 50-50? Not great in my opinion...
What are the odds in your home country?

Was at a Central dept store today, and went to the loo. Everyone in there with face masks. While I scrubbed my hands and lower arms after peeing, 3-4 of the guys who had just used the urinals walked out without washing their hands.
Ha Ha I wash my hands before I pee!!!

They should thank their government for continuously ignoring issue that would tourists feel welcome and safe here such as:
- metered taxis in tourist areas
- lifeguards on the beaches
- abandon dual pricing
- improve marine and road safety
- reduce air and marine pollution
- efficiency of immigration at the airports
I'm sure there would be more topics to add.
Ablutions on the beaches!!!

Big white cocks are highly treasured in Isaan.

Well neighbour up in Isaan recently decided he was the big boy in Cock Fighting. Invested in the collapsible ring thingy and a few fighting birds.
He also "leases" out these birds to service chickens at B500 a shot.
Anyway the other day his prize fighting cock escaped and decided to visit our yard. Unbeknown to him this is the domain of a big old fluffy white cock who has ruled this roost for the past few years.
It took about a minute for the prize fighting cock to be left in a pretty feeble heap in the dirt. Big old white cock, who doesn't even have a name, strutting around proud as punch.
Said neighbour left with his "dinner" tucked under his arm and not looking too pleased with himself I must say.
Sitting on the balcony watching this all unfold was one of the funniest times of my life - definitely time for a few celebratory Leos I think.

I paid and insisted they kept it.
Was working a contract in Africa at the time and due to finish up. When the topic came up I said to the missus that I would do another extra swing (4 weeks) and this would be for her folks.
Anyway we gave them the lot and 10 years later still never asked for another cent.
I felt at the time, and still do, that 1 month of my time could change their lives forever and it certainly has - mine too by the way, for the better.

A few years back my Missus suggested we buy a motorbike for her 13 year old son. I jokingly said no problem as long he shows me his licence.
I forgot all about it until a few years later when a few days after his 15th birthday a text arrived with a photo of his motorbike licence.
Cost me 46,000 baht ????
I never mentioned anything about a car licence after that!!!????
