I started a tread inquiring about alternatives now that Skype is shutting down. Ordered my monthly wire transfer last night (Bangkok time). Rep just said to use the Fidelity international toll fee number from now on. I’ll give it a try before the next regular monthly transfer. They have both my Son’s USA address, telephone number and my Thai address and mobile number in their system along with the Thai bank acct. on file for the no charge wire transfers (BKK charges 200 baht).

Recommend using the app, “AirVisual” as I do here in Chiang Mai for the daily AQI posting.

I have used Skype regularly to contact the US from my computer here in Chiang Mai. No issues, especially calling for my monthly income wire transfer. But now that Microsoft has announced the end of Skype, I am asking if others have regularly used an internet calling app with success and without cost?

Ask her to watch, “Taken” with Liam Neeson. Then talk with her about the need to be careful as trafficking is well known here. After which tell her not to be paranoid … good luck with that! Thailand is great but …

At 78 my running days are over and I am quite content to watch movies at home while sipping wine. I always told the girls: 1 glass I am relaxed. 2 glasses and I want to get “cuddly”. 3 glasses and they are safe again as I am sleepy. Guess I am more a lover than a fighter. My Wife is looking forward to visiting another country for my retirement if Thailand decides to tax my already taxed income in the USA. I know my unimportance to Thailand (spending my 1 million baht a year here) but then again, I am a free person able to seek settlement elsewhere and some of those countries allow me to join their national healthcare scheme after a period of residence.

Been here 13 years. No denying the air pollution. Today difficult to see Doi Suthep from Airport Mall. But generally, I am moving from air conditioned closed home to air conditioned closed car to air conditioned closed Mall so the smog months do not bother too much. Couple of years month long smog breaks in Samui or USA. Would travel more but I am an economic refugee retired from the U.S. ( anyone can donated half a million usd and have rightful claim to making me a millionaire!)

True that the O-A I entered on became untenable as an aging heart patient for insurance requirement reason. Fortunately, two years ago I was able to switch in country, to marriage reason for O Visa = no insurance required. Today I pick up my third marriage extension in Chiang Mai. I use monthly income method so lots of paper pages to sign!
