They should let this one variant run. Same as when we were kids & our mothers would put us next to our brothers or sisters that had chicken pox It was just easier to get over it & be done with it + have our immune system do what no vaccine will ever do as well...build immunity It is obvious to the world that Omicron is a weaker covid variant & while more contagious has a very low hospitalization rate + death rate is lower than anyone can imagine at this point Look at recent news in Africa South Africa sees fewer hospitalizations as Omicron cases surge Health officials say fewer coronavirus patients require hospitalization despite a rise in the number of COVID-19 infections.

This whole fiasco should be looked at twice by long term expats & folks doing business living in Thailand At the end of the day this pandemic is a small thing yet look at how Thailand has mishandled it from the start Is Thailand a place you want to be when something much larger than Covid strikes? It is very appropriate that Thailand's favorite song is The Hotel California I'm guessing it is often played in Myanmar too

We moved out of Thailand in 2016 two years after the current Junta took over. (We visit a few months a year now) But if we still lived there & Anutin became PM we would move out in less than two weeks ????

It is total BS to lock down someone because of proximity If that is the case most in Thailand would need locking down NOW because we all know Thailand never tested in 2019 & 2020 & C19 is rampant there. Also what point is a test on arrival ? Why are other countries not requiring tests on arrival but instead the common sense approach of tests on departure. Makes no sense,,,Because truthfully if tested before flight you should be done...If one tested positive on arrival (likely falsely) all others in that metal tube were also exposed in flight PERIOD But again as said elsewhere the test was never designed to be a diagnostic tool Just because others jump of the Thai logic cliff does not mean we will follow ???? Yes we miss family but have facetime etc to hold us over here in the free world till this insanity ends there

True but not the point for most IMHO The point is your spinning the wheel of Thai uncertainty You left your country with a Neg Test You arrive in Thailand & maybe their test say positive...14 night hospital You arrive in Thailand & although you test negative the guy who sat next to you in plane or van tests positive..10 nights quarantine hotel...your expense as likely not covered by any insurance Lastly this...yes most including us spend a night in Hotel when transiting from BK to Don Mueang before heading to our home upcountry But it is our choice of hotel not some overpriced AQ hotel with reduced services But we do agree it is "No Big Deal" our house can remain empty there another year as we have a sister next door to clean it every month. But we do miss our family there & our niece just had a daughter that we would like to see

Well my wife & I were waiting for the next step of dropping all tests on arrival with tests only before departing home like most countries. I guess it will be another year of passing up our return to our Thai home ???? Hopefully someday Thailand will realize they went thru 2019 & 2020 basically the worst years of covid with basically no testing etc at all. Their world did not end but as they see now things are ending daily for many of their citizens
