Thai Army will keep going on a little rice and somtam, US Army needs a McD, Kentucky .... Coca Cola and so on.
If push came to shove nuclear weapons would wipe them all out but there is a reluctance to use them,
The wars mentioned are not really wars they are more guerilla tactics, run and hide.
Vietnam and Afganistan not really wars.....what an idiotic statement. War - A state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a nation or state.
Yes i clearly remember the Afghans lining up on one side...............get real. its not all out war, if it was theyd nuke em, instead they just blow up passers by like shooting ducks.

My observation on these pictures is the Thai soldiers look ready for combat all the time but the farang soldiers care more about how to look good and show their big arms and get awards. Not to mention the big guy sending sms to his thai GF when he really should be ready for war. I choose the Thai army to fight for my country.
Good luck with that then...............one tv on the battlefield would have them mesmerised.

I had no idea that any bar would make such a drink that could kill. There must be a way for the police to check which bars produce that
that kind of drink and shut them down. The resutls took a rather long time.
It is obvious that there must be 100s of bars that serve this concoction. I will stick with my favorite...gin n tonic (absolute of course)
with a lemon or lime twist.
Drink enough alcohol it will kill you and thats perfectly legal......................I thank the day I tried some and found all alcohol disgusting.

The oddest Thai traditions I have actually seen are the Buddhist related things my Thai wife has done; a trip to the temple is like an episode of 'Superstition 101' - shaking sticks, candle oil, blessed water, coins in cups, fortune papers - the list is endless.
The oddest Thai tradition I've never experienced or met anyone with actual experience of is how Thai fathers will take their daughter's virginity. I can't give a source for this, it's just something I've been told about a bygone era in Thai society. Very odd. Hopefully it's died out now.
Nope still goes on in other countries..............what a lovely world w e live in

another oddity is i have seen a group of thai people being submerged in the river by some man holding a book before being able to join some cult
Bluddy scuba divers eh!!

Built a small house recently, had to leave the land for a while as came back to the Uk so asked one of the builders to stay in the house for security.
He declined, apparently there is something "very big" living on our land, he couldnt say what it was but it scared the be jesus outta him.
GOOD NEWS I can now promote this story all round the village about the big demon which should then keep the locals well and truly away.
Even the wife was trying hard to contain her laughter when he started telling her.
We offered him 5k a month to stay there too.
House is s till there so the demon is doing a good job of keeping the vermin away although it didnt stop one nicking the water meter.

I know of one guy here (but I'm sure he's not alone) who abandoned his family in his home country because he didn't want to pay maintenance after separating from his wife. This guy has now started a new family here and spares no expense in raising his new child. If things turn sour here I expect him to abandon them as well rather than pay any maintenance. Some guys have the morals of soi dogs.
I know of one too with one kid in the UK who he forks out for and then he had twins in Thailand with a new wife, dumped her for a bargirl and had another one with her, he pays nothing for the twins,Oh and he is a very high up teacher at a good uni in BKK ie 100k + salary.Maybe the Canadian family just see this child as their Fathers stupidity in old age.

A lot of the counterfeit goods on sale here are actually from China, not Thailand, and transported in by plane. This isn't about people flying from Europe or the US. So laugh it up but it is actually useful if it ends up being enforced and they start confiscating goods
Which plod will sell onto the highest bidder to appear down Sukhumvit later in the day where they can then confiscate it on exit and repeat...................excellent idea

I am Atheist, which is pretty close to be Buddhist.
Depends. Buddhism doesn't include a God like the Christian God. But, that doesn't mean atheism and Buddhism are similar. Buddhism has a fairly expansive cosmology which includes dieties.....just not like Christianity. Does atheism have this? What is atheism's general philosophy of the universe?
post 18 will sort u out
No Im not going to be come a buddhist and Thailand wont be changing my cynical view of the world in general

see:General William Slim. Because the Allies were planning to take the offensive themselves, the corps' units were thrown forward almost to the Chindwin River and widely separated, and were therefore vulnerable to being isolated and surrounded.
-
20th Indian Infantry Division occupied Tamu, 110 kilometres (68 mi) south-east of Imphal. The division was untried but well-trained.
-
17th Indian Infantry Division occupied Tiddim, 243 kilometres (151 mi) south of Imphal, at the end of a long and precarious line of communication. The division, which had two brigades only, had been intermittently in action since December 1941.
-
23rd Indian Infantry Division was in reserve in and around Imphal. It had served on the Imphal front for two years and was severely understrength as a result of endemic diseases such as malaria and typhus.
-
50th Indian Parachute Brigade was north of Imphal, conducting advanced jungle training.
-
254th Indian Tank Brigade was stationed in and around Imphal.
Maybe "deemded" a British win, but it looks like the Indians were fighting the battle. And it wasn't much a win as Britain didn't lose land that it already had. It's more a defense of a position And there is no reports of this army occupying Bangkok.
It was a British led army, with some British infantry as well, it was of course a British colony from 1842, so from a British point of view at that point in history a part of the Empire. I don't know why, but put you seem to be denigrating the effort of the British in WW11 who suffered, in conjunction with commonwealth forces, a total of 452,000 military deaths.
And the Thai losses he forgot to mention?? oh yeah ZERO as he likes to quote.
Better to fight and lose than take it up the jacksy, id rather go down fighting with some respect.
I think that was the point, he wants this turning into a we and them thing.
Maybe he'd have a different view if this had happened in Thailand http://www.asianholocaust.org/china---info.html

And just remind us what the Great Thai Nation was doing to help? Of course Britain was already fighting ONE war elsewhere at the time and would be extremely stretched at best..

"Thai version" Myth
"Rest of the world version " Fact
-
Not that unusual: People are trying to make conversation. You are not excepted to reveal detailed and intimate facts, similarly as one doesn't to the "how are you?" question.
The conversational possibilities are usually very wide and one can direct it as one likes.
A: What's in the parcel?
- B1: Something I'd like to send to my relative who always likes a nice surprise.
-
B2: Something my wife put in here.
-
B2: Something I'd like to send to my friend who'll be buying a new house soon.
-
B3: I have forgotten what's in here by this unexpected question. What could it be? [ I am not unfriendly and open to how a conversation develops]
-
B4: A giant sex toy for a person whom I randomly met in a public place.
-
B5: If I tell you the content of this parcel, there will be undesirable consequences.
Hope this helps. Have a good day!
What's this... TV guide for dummies?!?
Id be happy to tell them its the severed head of my nosey neighbour!!
- B1: Something I'd like to send to my relative who always likes a nice surprise.
-
No matter what my wife buys she always tells me how much it was................it always appears to be 100 baht???
-
Keep calm and shoot any pratt who mentions keeping calm................has always been my motto
-
Err.. get used to it?
Why should I?
Careful now - you will be told to leave Thailand soon due to your insolence of asking why logical thinking is a bad character trait here.
More likely to be a power trip thing from the guy with the actual key. If someone else has a key, he loses face in front of the boys so he clings onto that responsibility for dear life. I would hazard a guess that people have been shot here for meddling with someone elses key.
Shot thru the brains or did the chamber only hold 6 rounds?
