A youtuber retired living the dream put a phone call with HMRC on his channel where HMRC confirmed this.
Thank you for that. Reminded me just when I needed reminding (after an hour doom scrolling) that happiness is a few good strategies and a choice one makes to be happy and grateful.
Self reported happiness is very unreliable. Maybe he is maybe he isn't.
Grow up in a very dysfunctional family and just the absence of pain produces it's own happiness. I know from experience.
Very low sex drive also reduces the need for status. Blessed with good dopamine production and without any effort life is quite happiness inducing.
Put in the effort to remove suffering in oneself and live in beingness and often the default is a kind of contentment often know as happiness.
You like the rest of humanity have a need to express yourself to someone who understands you.
We also need expansionary conversations. I'm guessing keice has that with swift.

Exactly. You don't think he knows this?
Men who group up in healthy families want a partner for life. Do you think he'd be happier with the hottest girl from RCA?
Reducing all human interactions to transactions is very depressing. People want to share their lives and that means thoughts with another who "gets them"
The two people the op are talking about live such rarified lives there's only a few potential partners out there.
20bht is a subsidized fare.
Are you disgusted at the Thai people getting a subsidy from their government or that the Thai government isn't subsidizing foreigners?
Increasingly realise if I'm offline I have a good time doing the typical stuff, cooking, reading, meeting a friend. If I spend time online it often results in a bad day, you tubing, forum posting, fbooking.
I pick the phone up to answer a msg, check a sports score and then end up on here. It's wasting life but so hard to stop.
Nobody looks back on a weekend/month/year and thinks...what a great time that was, if only I spent more time on that forum.
Thanks for the replies.
It's 13k baht a month pension. As I feared she looks a risky proposition from the UKs point of view.
She has a PhD and will start a post doc end of the year but she won't get a letter confirming that till September.
I guess it's better to wait till then.
We've been together 13 years and I'm the one who would fund her trip.
