  1. if it works for you...great mate. I just couldn't wait 2 weeks to download the latest episode of Dexter on an aircard :o

I do like the fact the the closest Starbucks is 30 mins. away...that's better than me by 20 minutes...as the farther away the better

I should mention we have no TV either...by choice....the peace and quiet is astounding....the stars are bright in the sky too.

As for downloading stuff...yes that is a problem, but i get around it by sending a 1 terrabyte EHD to a friend that loads it all on for me over a week and sends it back to me.....all for EMS @ 47 baht......so ways around everything if you are creative enough.

  2. Bikie sounds like chick talk or a term homosexuals would use.

You could email the Hells Angels and mention that.....make sure you use a proxy.

Speaking of the HA's....dod anyone read that book about the copper that went undercover with the HA's in America.....not to bright them boys and bet they were well pissed off at being made fools of.

It is well known that Bikers are the goodie 2 shoes riding their honda and yellow suzukis, whereas Bikies are the bad boys on the Harley's.

Bikers wave to each cos they need the feeling of being buddies with every other biker.....bikies are mature enough to be able to deal with life alone if necessary.

  3. I did not post that you put more fear into you...I have no doubt you do not need anyone to help you with that.

but others should not be so free and easy thinking either.....things do and can happen. I certainly hope nothing does and those fears you have is what is driving you with haste. Live of them and make them work in your favour as no matter what someone says about there is no fear of this or that, it will not make you feel better at the end of the day.

  4. .The only acknowlegement I,d give you though would be two fingers.

    Really....why is that ?

I am simply asking why you have this false sense of belonging to other bikers when you would ordinarily not give them the time of day if you passed them on the footpath.

And don't forget, I owned bikes as a youngster.....so not adverse to the riding of bikes, but this dress in full length leathers in this heat and look the part and waving and such is just pretencious.

I have this photo of a really cool farang dude dressed as such leading a group of Thai kids on their little mopeds....and waving....quite funny really.

  5. Not really interested as most such places have painfully slow internet connections and I'd have to travel for miles for a decent cup of coffee or a decent farang meal.

The less interested people the better.

We have a very nice coffee shop not even 5 minutes drive away and maybe 15 minutes by bike.

We have a starbucks 30 minutes drive away.

Internet is fine, although my connection is a little slow, but thats cos I use an aircard.

Farang meals abound actually....some great, some not so great.....but cannot beat the scenery around most of them.

  6. I moved out of Bangkok to a much nicer place....would never have considered pattaya.....I actually now enjoy driving around most days with the windows down, no aircon on in the car, no aircon at all in the house, fans not required during the day probably 60% of the time, fans not required at night at least 80% of the time and probably more likely 90%.

Peak hour traffic might lose me 3 minutes on an avergae drive.

    Is bliss.

  7. Ask the Hells Angels in the States if they know what a Bikie is then......i am sure they will have heard it before.

In the outback of Oz, when you drive for sometimes hours without passing another car, it was customary to give a little wave, acknowledgement to another driver in an isolated area.

But what I am enquiring about is not the same as this, it is why you feel the need to wave to a completely unkown biker on the road as you pass them....yet you would not have anything to do with them normally if they were next to you in any other situation.

Why the false comradery and brothers in arms stuff...thats all i am asking.

If you have no idea...feel free not to answer again with your troll remarks or standard bitter individual remarks.

  8. I must say that I don't agree.

    Sleep Well :)

I believe I read that the mother abandoned the child for 2 years...with that history alone I would be extremely worried about neglect.

Does she drink ? is she a drunk ? does she take drugs at all ?

Regardless...she ducks out and leaves the child with a somewhat responsible adult, uncle, friend whatever...how do you know the child is safe with strangers if that actuall occurs....anything is possible in this case because the mother has already abandoned the child before.

Crazy not to be worried about something happening to the child in any such case.

I certainly would be in the same situation and I would leave no stone unturned to get the child back asap to reduce that exposure period.

  9. 3k baht is crazy....even for a proper hoity toity spa massage.

When i first got massages....never felt any difference....did nothing for me either.

Not sure if it the getting older benefit...or simply finding a good massuese.....but if you can find a good one, it is great and you will leave feeling good.

Keep trying till you do find one that floats ya boat.......but you can find them in the cheaper range just as much as you should expect to find them in the higher range......in fact i have found the higher range ones to be not very good at all.

  10. This was all explained in another thread and someone...http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/413309-extension-based-upon-supporting-a-child/...Mario ....made a recommendation re going to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, consular section.

The problems we have with it is we have not been back to birth country for several years and no real plans to in near future....I do not wish to make a trip back there just for this...would be expensive birth certificate.

It can be done by post...I have friends here that have done it, but you have to send ALL original documents, so original passports, ID and anything else they require. Not keen on that.

To complicate this, my name is spelt differently on the house registration he is on and the thai spelling of his trannslated Australian birth certificate. We found this out when we went to the passport office to see exactly what was required. They were prepared to issue a PP here for him except for this one issue of the different spelling, which they take as a different name altogether.

So, there is no rush really, we shall challenge it all again soon from here and see if we can sort it....kind of thing we put off cos we know the bullshit involved so put away for doing on a rainy day.

  11. And what's a "bikie?"

    Seriously ?

You are a biker and you do not know what a Bikie is ?

Strange.....for sure the Bikies would not wave to you...but bet you are furiously waving back and looking in your rear vision mirror to check.

I have never witnessed people that drive the same car do it.....I owned a porsche and never waved to other porsche drivers.

I own a 4wd now and do not wave to other 4wd owners.

I can understand classic and vintage car drivers doint it, they have the same interests and there are not hundreds of classic or vintage cars on the road to wave at every 3 seconds.

Why do Bikers feel the need to be part of this waving club at strangers...ones you would never bother to speak with normally.

For Kwakas benefit.....don't forget the 'A' when you need to write it proper like....but I have owned bikes in the past.....never felt the need to be part of a mythical gang or club though.

I also never wore spandex under a leather full length suit....especially in the tropics....must be very uncomfortable to look so cool.

  12. Maybe the bikies are worried about losing their balance?

Lol....I just find it strange that the bikers will wave to each other....unknown persons to each toher....but if they stood next to each other in a que or at a restaurant....they would ignore each other.

What is with this false brothers in arms and all for one and one for all stuff ??

Bikies on the other hand are cool and know not to embarrass themselves.
