  1. I am sure there are 1000s of Italians killed every day on Italian roads .OP do you also inquire about all of them in case you should know one ? :jap:

What a foolish comment....thousands of Italians are not killed everyday on roads in Thailand and specifically in Bangkok though are they ?

Nor ones that you happen to know and wish to find information on right ?

To add to your highly thought out statement....I wonder actually if there really is thousands of Italians killed everyday in Italy on their own roads....lets take your well thought out figure of 1000'3...thats more than 1000, so lets say 2000 x 365 = 730,000 people killed on the roads in Italy every year.....you are a clever chappy hey !!!

  2. Ok let's resume it, Nawtier is aware of the name of an italian which died in Bangkok in a motorcycle accident, he got these info second or third hand but nothing else has come up so far, if you don't want to put the name in the forum, would you mind to share what you know by pm? so we might eventually get some more info by cross checking what we got available....thanks

At last, someone can read and absorb.

I can forward the name I have if you wish to know, but not publicly as we are still not sure. From the info at hand, it is him, but do not wish to say it here just in case.

The reason for posting this was hopefully someone had seen a news article on it, here or elsewhere and I would like to read the details of how it happened and where exactly.

So, the other posters wanting to know intimate details of where he lived and so on are pointless in relation to finding what my OP requested...and that was anyone hearing about it in the news.

If jazzbo wished to carry on as a fool and not quite thought out enough know it all, cut loose.

  3. Playing the devils advocate here, but what would happen if the tables were turned and it was conscription in the US and not in Thailand, and imagine comments US citizens on TV would be making if you were discussing trying to dodge the US draft....:whistling:

Pretty sure you would be hearing..."revoke his citizenship"...."coward"....."disloyal to the US" as some of the more polite comments.

I would never let my son join the armed forces here, unless he could move straight into a generals position.

I think the US training and Thai training methods are somewhat different standard, as are safety measure and deployment.

Imagine your son being charged to a retard for live firing practice of grenade training.

Look at the deployment of inexperienced troops to the front line of the recent red shirt war.....sacrifical lambs comes to mind.

more fool you if you think same same US or any other real countries armed forces.......my boy will simply never do it.....never.

  4. Hardly affected by floods at all in those areas you mentioned....business as usual.

Some riverside places were flooded further down stream and in town, but not around here.

  5. I have been told who it was and I know/knew him.....but the people telling us have no details about the how and why and where etc. Also it has come via someone else who got the news from a good friend of the deceased.

So, I would have thought it would have made news somewhere if correct, especially as in Bkk and not some hick out of the way place.

  6. Thanks, Nawtier.

How does the "livability" of the 2 areas compare. Quiet? Traffic? Shopping (have a car)? Local wet market? DSL broadband internet? Etc? How far from the restaurants on the south side? I'm not interested in bars .. nor am I hiso. :)

Although I might want to visit some of the restaurants on the south side. How much of a drive?

I prefer the south side cos I like the quiet and the mountains. North side you can find deserted spots also if you want, just not the mountains around you.

Traffic is no problem, except the odd weekend when the tourists are in town.

Tesco in town, wet market in town, roadside markets along the road most nights somewhere.

Internet is available in the area, but we do not have it cos it is not available in our road.

Restaurants are everywhere...closest one to us is 2 minutes away, then all the way into town which is 25 minutes from where we live.

  7. South of the highway is where the national is and all the nice mountains, quite a few activities and lots of restaurants. The views in this area are very nice and the mountains, most anyway are covered in old growth trees, or at least bigger trees.

North of the highway is flatter, less mountains and the tree coverage is almost always regrowth, so short plain coverage of the hills.

South is the trendy and yuppy area where the rich folk from Bkk are buying, simple as that.

  8. Rotenone is available at many farm chemical outlets, it is sold as small chips and powder in 10 kg bags,we use it at times when we get an infestation of small fish(the locals call them Taiwan fish).

    Good news...shall try here.

What is the thai name for it, if it is above dun worry, I shall find it.

  9. Thanks Khonwan......

I have not done the deed yet, need to locate the ....should i say it...'poison'.

We do not have a fisheries department around here and do not fancy going through the hoops at any thai run government org......easier to just ask here and hopefully get the right reply.

    Draining is not an option.

I shall try to get the plants roots mentioned and see how they go, we live near jungle/forests, so hopefully is that is where it is, someone can get, or has it already for us.

And as for discussions on this being illegal....please, as mentioned, you best can the farming section in its entirety if that is the case cos all you illegal farming foreigners discussing all things farming here in Los.

I shall advise when job done and might even take pics.....

  10. RedBull....your secret is safe with you....carry on.

Thanks for the info to the other more usefull guys, the ones that don't feel the need to play secret society games like tosspot here.

Is this plants roots available anywhere in particular ??

  11. You should not have built so close to the river or so low then perhaps......got any pics of the flood and damage ??

We ate at the restaurant just past the Bangkok hospital on the left the other night, imagine they must have been somewhat underwater there as well.

Now you tell me! :) The house is right on the river, but sits about 20 meters above it. The builders said there hadn't been a flood in 20 years. Oh well... all the low wood is now out and being replaced with tile, concrete, aluminum and glass. We're close to the hospital you mention.

Must be near the Nannam restaurant then ??

Not the new house right at the bridge is it ?
