  1. Not everybody smokes, including weed and e-cigarettes...
  2. According to the Thai tax-rules both foreign card withdrawals and foreign card-payments in Thailand, and money transfers, are in principle income taxable when staying in the Kingdom 180 days or more within a calendar year. However, it has been officially suggested that foreign income earned in 2025 and 2026, transferred into Thailand in same year as earned, will be tax exempt.
  3. The bank deposits will be part of the estate. Distribution of the estae depends of a last will and which country the primary home was – probably Thailand in this case – as the estate will be handled in country of primary home. If there is no last will, the Thai rules distribute with 50% to the spouse (wife) and 50% to other family. If there are no blood heirs, the spouse will get it all. If you wish to be in control of where belongings and after you move on to next level, make a last will. Even one writing one yourself can be legal and make a difference. Image-texts below are from the book "Thai Law for Foreigners"...
  4. Seems like you understand "Thai way of thinking" very well...
  5. Nothing has changed so far, but it has been suggested to omit the foreign income tax for two years for foreign income transferred same year as earned.
  6. That is correct, the women handles the finances...
  7. "Bureaucracy" and "welcoming spirit" are the main key words to considering other places like Vietnam, while dual pricing in some cases might also be a subject...
  8. Why not just make a prenuptial agreement, it will clear all doubt...
  9. If you look the same it's probably no problem. I use the same photo for 4 years when doing my extension of stay – I get 4 copies when a phboto is taken, even when I use immigration's own photo service. Since I don't change my life-style and how I look often, I get away with this photo-budget planning...
  10. You seems to forget that "some are more equal than others"...
  11. I presume that they could find my house "without any prior assistance", since they showed up without any prior contact. However, the immigration office where I live has always insisted on a hand drawn map in return for an extension of stay – at least during the 18 last years where I got such a service – and the latter about 10 years also a Google-map with co-ordinates of the address. So, it's easy peasy to find my home with a GPS...
  12. Probably there are more info for the police than share here, including bank account number, name and branch for the person that received the money...
  13. I'm also on extension of stay based on retirement – but in an different province – and had home visit from immigration. However, they didn't call in advance, just showed up and wished a photo of me in front of house number, holding my passport open on name page, stading together witj one of the uniformed police officers. Seems like upcoming that authorities now do more checks on long-stayers. The bad thing for me was that they didn't inform me in advance... So, there I am standing, at for me utterly earlt morning, with a towel around my waist, no glasses og ugly morning hair... –hope they never shared the photo on SoMe...
  14. First thing is to immediately file a police report and inform the bank.
  15. Thanks for your reply. Good to hear you have funds instead of insurance. The problem arise when travellers "forget" travel-insurance – it's travel insurance, not health insurance, which is the subject here for a tourist – and family need to open a go-fund-me.
  16. Sad story, but same old story repeating: Don't travel without an insurance...
  17. What is it with Indian mens' interest in Thai transgenders? There are often news stories about Indian tourists that have lost something of value to a transgender...
  18. An estate will be handled in country of primary residence. Inheritance tax is levied on values over 100 million baht. The tax is 5% in direct line (children/parents) and 10% for everyone else. However, a spouse is exempt from inheritance tax.
  19. The best option in my opinion is to use the 800k baht in banl deposit-method. You can use a 12-month fixed account for best interest, which at the moment is in the area around 1.5 % p.a. minus 15% withheld tax. Inflation – consumer price index – is low at present, 100.40 for May 2025 with 2023 as index 100. With a fixed bank deposit you can sleep well without thinking of exchange rate and that you got transferred equivalent to minimum 65k baht every month. I've used the deposit-mothod since 2007 and withdraw the interest once a year, so I keep clean 800k baht in the account. Use a separate account for immigration-deposit, so it's siomple and easy to prove the balance. You'll once a year need an balance confirmation letter from your bank together with a 3-month statement (typically 200 baht cost, valid for 7 days) nand copy of (all pages) on your bankbook, which also need to be updated, often same day or day before applying for extension of stay. When using the 65k baht a month foreign transfer method, you still need a bank letter, but also 12-month bank statement; which need to be ordered in advance at some banks, for example Bangkok Bank. Your transfers shall be monthly and never less than 65k baht.
  20. Normally 7 days for letter and statement, but ask your local immigrations office. Bank book-update often needs to be same day.
  21. The work you are looking for seems like work that are protected for only Thais to perform. To work as a foreigner in Thailand, you need qualifications that Thailand needs.
  22. When a 59 years old man meets a 21-year old girl, a financial interest from her side might be stronger than falling in love with the man...
  23. I mean exactly what I said: "...surprised how few Thais stops and help – for example call for ambulance – when an accident happens."
  24. I must have a boring sex-life, since I never had any desire to inspect transgender ladies' genitalia...
  25. To give you a chance to sit next to "two attractive girls"...
