Tax Deducted from Savings Account
TigerandDog replied to ravip's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Foreigners with Thai bank accounts pay 15% tax on all interest earned. Some banks deduct tax regardless of the amount, others wait until 20k baht interest has been earned and then back tax plus deduct tax on every additional interest payment made during the calendar year. Some banks pay interest monthly others only twice per year. Regardless, of which way the interest is paid and tax deducted you can lodge a tax return with the Revenue Dept, supported by a bank letter stating how much interest was earned and tax deducted, and as long as your total Thai assessable income is less than 120k per year you should receive a 100% tax refund. -
That's not true. My annual Thai tax refund MUST be credited to my Krungthai account, and it gets interest paid on 30th June & 31st December each year. It's just an ordinary savings account. ttb pay interest on their non-fixed account, but to have a non-fixed account you MUST have an ALL FREE account (no interest paid & no bank fees). The all free account has a debit card, and to access funds in the non-fixed you need to transfer down to the all free account and then either withdraw or transfer the funds. I'm sure other banks also have accounts that pay interest, has nothing to do with whether you are a foreigner or not. The only aspect that being a foreigner impacts is the interest is subject to 15% tax, which you can claim back each year between January-March.

Tottenham Hotspurs - premier league 24/25
TigerandDog replied to steven100's topic in Football forum
why do supporters ALWAYS lay the blame for poor results on the manager? Perhaps they should start and put pressure on the board to give the manager a squad capable of performing more consistently. How many good managers has Spurs had come & go over the past couple of seasons, Poch, Conti, Vllas Boas, Mourinho, Sherwood, Esperito Santo. Managers don't suddenly become bad/poor managers overnight. The last major trophy Spurs won was in 2008 and they've consistently finished top 5 or 6 under each of the aforementioned managers and still those managers were sacked by an incompetent board & Levy. The problem is twofold: #1. Look at how many injuries Spurs currently have, especially defenders. No team is going to get good results if all their first choice defenders are sidelined with injuries, you only need to look back a couple of seasons and see how Liverpool performed when they're first choice defenders were all injured. #2. Spurs will NEVER be a top team until Levy & the current board are all gone. Between them they only ever have a single means of trying to improve the team. Sack the manager. Perhaps they should take a look at the quality and depth of their squad for a change and blame themselves for their failure to buy better quality players when they are available. Sacking the manager is the easy option and actually the actions of a cowardly board. Give the manager the support he deserves and buy the players that HE wants. This applies to all the football clubs that have a history of a rotating door when it comes to managers. -
Bank of Thailand Boosts Mobile Security with New Transfer Limits
TigerandDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
every one of those precautions are already in place. However there are 2 aspects, which as usual due to poor planning that have not been accounted for. #1. The account holder can log into their banking app and change the daily & individual transaction limits to suit themselves. #2. No consideration given for legit payments that exceed those limits. e.g. annual health insurance premiums, buy a new car etc. -
93 Dead, 575 Injured in Two Days of New Year Road Crashes
TigerandDog replied to Georgealbert's topic in Thailand News
There's not always a car driver involved, but from what I've witnessed over the past 10 years, 99% of the time it's the pee brained motor cyclist at fault. They ride their motor bikes with gay abandon displaying their impatience, the mentality of a a person with a death wish. -
93 Dead, 575 Injured in Two Days of New Year Road Crashes
TigerandDog replied to Georgealbert's topic in Thailand News
you can't take any notice of the Thai road toll numbers because they ONLY count those dead at the scene of the accident. No accounting for those that die from their injuries. They just get included in the injuries number. The actual road toll would be thousands more if the numbers were correctly and honestly recorded. -
would love to see a screen shot of the pop up, as pop ups of this nature have a tendency to be scams, especially if there is a need to make a telephone call for assistance.

Dual Pricing in Thai Tourism: Economic Necessity or Hidden Bias?
TigerandDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'd make a slight change to your comment and change foreigners to farangs because the ONLY people being slugged by the dual pricing are those with white skin or black skin. I've seen Japanese, Myanmar, Cambodians & even some Chinese tourists only paying the same price as Thais simply because they are Asian. I also notice how the OP has conveniently omitted to make mention of the dual pricing in hospitals. How does that benefit teh culture. It just lines the pockets of the greedy hospital administrators and doctors. -
Thai Tax Strategy Revamp: VAT Hike, Income Tax Cuts Proposed
TigerandDog replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I can remember when it was first floated to have a GST (VAT) in Australia. The Howard Govt was suggesting, if I remember correctly, 10% on everything. This was changed to 10% only on certain types of items. However, before the GST came into effect, most of the govt's top economic advisors were suggesting a flat 20% GST on all products, even imported goods, and ZERO personal income tax, which meant that people had more of their wages to spend. Their argument was that the govt would raise more tax this way. They even used Kerry Packer as an example. Packer purchased his private jet/s overseas and flew them into Oz, no tax paid on the planes. The economists plan, if implemented, meant Packer would have to pay 20% GST on a plane worth millions of dollars. Howard liked the idea but the Treasurer Peter Costello somehow managed to convince parliament that this wouldn't work. The economists did get it right because their GST formula actually meant that the rich would end up paying their fair share of tax as they would be purchasing high value brand name items, thus more tax paid by them, and with this GST formula it guaranteed that they paid their fair share of tax. Of course history shows that this didn't happen and the middle & low income earners still pay the most personal income tax as they don't have the loopholes & tax havens that the rich do. Govt's, regardless of which country, will always structure their tax rules to favour the wealthy. -
because they weren't at the meeting. However, this headline is heavily exaggerated. This was not an unexpected/surprise random drug test, this is an annual procedure in every District across the country. My wife, who is our village's Pooyai Ban, tells me that our district will be conducting the annual drug testing of all our District govt officials in January.

there are some and they can most likely be counted on 1 hand, and I use my wife (recently elected pooyai baan) as an example. All our villages previous pooyai baans have charged a fee (which they are not supposed to) to certify document copies etc. which have gone directly into their pockets. With all the certifications that has been required for Myanmar & Laos people who have lived in Thailand for more than 20 years being granted citizenship, she has been offered fees usually around 500 baht each but she has refused on the basis of it's her job to do it for free. Some of them have insisted, so she's issued a receipt and told the relevant people that their cash will be used as a donation towards the village, and it has been deposited in the village's bank account. She's also made it known to the households in the village that run their small casinos that no bribes will be paid to the police, so they run their casinos at their own risk. She has the support of the vast majority of the village over both these issues. So in short, there are some who are not involved in any form of corruption.

If the biopsy comes back malignant, even if the cancer is localised within the prostate the OP's PSA readings are too high for Brachytherapy. My PSA readings were in range but also around the same as the OP's and Brachytherapy was immediately ruled out by my urologist as an option on that basis alone. For me the choice was conventional radical prostatectomy (robotic wasn't available when I was treated) rather than radiation.

as much as I wanted Tyson to knock Paul out, Paul won on points. The fact Tyson at 58 went the distance says a alot for Tyson's fitness but also says that Paul aint as good as he thinks he is.
-
have you seen the videos of his training regimen for this fight. Tyson looks fitter, stronger and faster than he has in a very long time. I'm not saying that makes him a certain winner, but I'd love to see him knock Jake Paul out cold.

Fire Destroys Three Vehicles in Parking Garage: Bangkok

It's called a car park NOT a parking garage. parking garage is just another instance of americans changing the english language to suit themselves rather than use the correct english naming format. -

What does the average British expat think of Tommy?
TigerandDog replied to Kinok Farang's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
"lesser nations". Come on mate, That's a rather derogatory comment to make, especially when Britain aint the empire it used to be anymore. These days Britain is classed as a lesser nation depending on where people are from. So please none of that pommy superiority complex. -
What do you use for contraception?
TigerandDog replied to jaywalker2's topic in Marriage and Divorce
don't even need to think about contraception after prostate cancer and having prostate surgically removed 11 years ago. -
The Pooyai Ban should be able to witness as well, as they also have an official stamp for when they sign any documents. My pooyai ban ( Mae Luang ) will do for free as she's my wife. On a slightly different tack, but related, Centrelink shouldn't need to obtain proof of life for expats, especially those in Thailand, and I'm guessing the same protocols would apply elsewhere in the world. When an expat passes here in Thailand a couple of extra steps are required. in addition to obtaining an original death certificate, 3 copies must be obtained. The first copy together with the original is taken to the Amphur (District Office) so they can record the death. The 2nd copy is for Immigration so they can update their records and also notify the home country embassy. The home country embassy notifies the relevant govt departments in the home country including Centrelink if an aussie and the pension is stopped once the last valid payment is made. The 3rd copy is for the bank, so the bank account can be closed and the funds transferred to the beneficiary's account as per the expats last will and testament or in accordance with local laws. Also Centrelink would know there was an issue if the final payment they remit to the expats bank account bounces due to account closure. So that raises a minor question if an expat pensioner passes before turning 80 how does Centrelink know to cease their pension payments? Answer, because of the aforementioned procedure, which makes the proof of life process from 80 onwards a complete waste of time and tax payers money.

I believe, and I could be wrong, that the one thing that impacts the taxes is that shipping costs are included when customs duty is calculated and then VAT is calculated on the total cost viz. item value, shipping cost & customs duty. They've gotta earn money for the govt someway. Then the profit margin is added for instore.
