  1. Look how Thailand developed in compare to similar countries...Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia...so I would say it worked very well since 1932.
  2. I think they want more change than that...Military has no place in politics, but on the other side the job is per definition to protect Monarchy, Religion and Country. So if something very bad happens they must do something. Question is: Where is the line.....
  3. Which isn't bad...if you compare Thailand with similar countries, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar...they are doing well
  4. My usual dentist went to Bangkok Hospital. I went on their webpage and it looks like out of a SciFi movie. I read the google reviews about the complete hospital (not only dentist) and they were pretty bad, many called them scam and money making. Now I wonder if I should go there...it is just for a dental cleaning. Anyone know their dental department? Good/Bad? Expensive?
  5. I doubt there is a massive collapse of the support of the old order Monarchy and Religion. People want reforms but I doubt they want to permanent change the order to something nihilistic western style. But I might be wrong, maybe they want that. The senate as guard dog is a silly solution. A good constitution that can be changed only with a big support would be the right solution
  6. The solution would be: Away with the Senators...they are not needed. Changes in the constitution can be only made with a 2/3 or 3/4 majority in parliament and major changes need a single issue public referendum where a majority of all voters approve it. Than there is no need anymore for any Senators as safety against elected bad guys.
  7. And he restored democracy, that he lost the election is the best proof....so he didn't seize power to be dictator.
  8. Yes sure, but than they can expect opposition from these people who are loyal to that....As I am not Thai and Atheist it is not my thing but I understand that it is important for many people. Most countries have laws protecting their political structure so it is not something that happens in Thailand only. We'll see how it plays out.
  9. Well it is protecting Monarchy, Religion and Country (not Military) and there is nothing wrong with that.
  10. With Thaksin as number 2 behind him....I don't know how long that holds
  11. I can't see that. Maybe against the Zimbabwe Dollar?
  12. It was in many...but many canceled that laws. Others just ignore it.
  13. Abhisit? Abhisit was a pretty weak PM but he didn't destroy democracy...as we can just see it is still here....Damage was done by Thaksin, but the military repaired it and gave democracy back.
  14. When I google the company I find annual reports with revenue for 2021 and 2022 so it does not look like they are out of business.
  15. My guess is: he says he accepts the result, and wait till the EC makes problems and than he present himself as the stable alternative....Specially as the EC will cause problems
  16. yes as you said...we can have an opinion and we can express it (as long as it is polite), nothing wrong with it.
  17. You have been here at Thaksin times, when he pressured companies to give him shares, when rant on TV about making a subway direct under the skytrain to bankrupt them as they didn't want to sale. The computer sale story, the airport story. The word on the street "We know he is corrupt but at least he share with us". He even got his money with a corruption with the than in power dictator where he got his license from. Yes it was worse....And yes it was not good now as well. And it will be bad with the new government. Different shades of grey
  18. I very much doubt the increase, but I have read it as well. I agree on the growth....the same thing again. The government didn't do something bad, but for sure they didn't do anything helpful. Some good immigration laws for people that bring benefit for country and economic...laws that are better than now everyone could do. Watching the increase of electric costs without doing anything and Thailand is producing gas and get cheap gas from Myanmar who has not much chance to send somewhere else. That is poor performance. But when you look at Europe. I am happy to not sit in Germany where they clean democratic elected government destroys the economic.... As told....it is not that I like the Prayuth government...it is that I worry that it can be worse
  19. In my opinion...the incompetent military sits there fat and happy do nothing and steals a 10% of everything. Which is kind of OK for me. Because they others steal more and make problems....Prayuth time was silent.... no red shirts no yellow shirts no blood on the street. No war against drugs with many bystander dead. No big corruption cases, no manic 3 word dictator rants on TV. Just boring normal life. (and it would have been so easy to repair a few problems when he was still dictator the first couple of years. Doing some reforms that are needed....but no nothing). I guess not long and the circus from hell with whatever color TShirts will soon begin again
  20. they were less corrupt than the Thaksin Mafia.....they may collect their 10% from everything....Bad enough. No one in politics is not corrupt, just the military was the lesser evil. I would advocate for much harsher laws....
  21. the constitution was voted for by the people. As the constitution is the highest law, per definition it is legal. Even if you see it wrong, technically it is legal. And again people voted for it. Senators who are somehow appointed is something that can be discussed about. Appointed from various groups could be also OK. But all appointed by the military is of course not acceptable for the long term...it will change in the next years. I complete agree with you on that one.
  22. The next step of being cynical is than me....it doesn't matter because nothing fundamental will change anyway. The small people will keep poor, the education system sucks and some big guy + cronies pocket the money. Meanwhile the cheerleader and hate groups for one or the other team battle each other on the street. And as always I am happy if I am this time wrong.... Changes are sometimes good...First term of Thaksin was pretty good...than it got really bad. Maybe MF give us a few good reforms on the beginning.
  23. currently are the complains are the allegations at the EC. The lies about Marijuana, iTV, 10.000 Baht promise and about a zillion allegations of vote buying...also many postings here about some families who got their 1000 Baht.
