A certain member of US Congress from New York (whose name I will not mention in an attempt to not have certain AN members froth at the mouth) said they wanted an electric car they could drive from NY to DC without having to stop and recharge. The only one they could find that claimed to handle it was a Tesla; this was 3 years ago. The city-to-city distance is around 250 miles and in the best driving conditions would take app. 4 hours. But it involves passing through a few urban areas prone to stand-still traffic jams, so 5-6 hours is a more practical guesstimate if not driving in the wee hours. And of course there is the incidental driving in the destination areas. "At the time, it was the only EV that could get me from New York to Washington on like one, or one-and-a-half charges, I would love to switch.” At least EM allows us the opportunity to tell someone to "go back to Africa!" and not be branded a racist for it. ????

I'm not sure what the subtext is here, but a very real issue has been that certain EV companies would exaggerate their numbers (like 'miles per charge') and buyers getting stranded when the juice runs out far below estimate. At this point, I still think of EVs as second cars, and one thing to consider if buying one is arranging for someone you can count on to pick you up when it goes bad. Maybe things have been improving.

I saw some of the video. The guy was 29 y.o. and 140 pounds. Why did these five cops have such a hard time overpowering him? At one point one of them keeps saying "give me your arm!" Cops only say that once, then they take it forcefully. I'm suspecting some kind of macho game was in play. I've seen pairs of cops do a more effective job than these five.

Videos released, US cable news doing the 24/7 thing. Interested to see how the most liberal of them (MSNBC) will define who is the victim.

Maybe if it looks like DT has a good chance of being the GOP 2024 candidate Mueller hisself will step up and say what needs to be said.

Over the past weekend some renowned investment wizard said they expect this stock to be 500% of its present value in 5 years. Share price has jumped app. 25% since then. Almost looks impressive enough to make one forget it was more than double this price four months ago. Pump and dump. IMO his nibs is the biggest liability, that Twitter silliness is more than just a pie-in-the-face embarrassment. With the stuff the company has on the horizon (the semi, the pickup) some shrewdness will be required to make those successful, and is going to require more than posing with that chimpanzee grin and carrying a sink around for a laugh. In the US that certain cultural (ahem!) group known for pickup trucks, guns, and the worship of a certain alleged billionaire has a disdain for EVs. For some reason this hardly gets mention in US national media.

The tragedy is that with the focus given to the GOP's House circus Ted Cruz has not been getting his due attention this year. Expect youtube vids of brave patriots taking their Xbox units outside and blasting them to pieces with their proud armaments. A few days later mom and the kids will go out and buy new ones.
