  1. I've heard people say they like him because he's honest. Go figure.
  2. presidents must have 'complete and total' immunity It's an absolute miracle the US made it this far without figuring that out.
  3. She doesn't do that for a living anymore. Or so it is said . . . She does have an NFT business, or so they say. That sucks in a different way.
  4. There was an actress who did a satirical impersonation of Melania on US television for a while. Miss Habba here kind of reminds me of her when she pouts.
  5. When the verdict came down on this case DT got in front of it and right-wing media ran with it. "DT cleared of rape charge" was the announcement, no mention of the sexual abuse and defamation (guilty on both). This happens fairly often, and it is working with the people who only get their news from Fox or other right-wing media. It's not unusual for him to have a bad day in court and when he gets in front of the cameras he declares it a victory. You have to wonder how he manages to keep track of his bs.
  6. There must be a lot of those Toyota pickups with mounted guns floating around in that part of the world. The Baluchis out in the desert have been a pain in the _ss even in better times, but why is Tehran bothering them now? You would think they have enough on their plate these days.
  7. Like with the Stormy Daniels adventure: he says he doesn't know her, while he is suing her for breach of contract. Huh?
  8. Another swine getting his snout in the gov't trough. IMO all governments have some kleptocracy going on, but Argentina, which was once an economic power, is noteworthy. October 2001: 1 peso to US$1 June 2011: 4 pesos to US$1 January 2024: 820 pesos to US$1
  9. It is called the Unitary executive theory . Bill Barr (DT's AG) was ok with this coming to pass, but he seemed to get cold feet on it in the face of the 1/6 insurrection. There were hints that Dick Cheney made some moves on it when he was VP. Not much made it into the media at the time: I wonder why (you might recall Dick making an f-bomb retort to a senator who dared to comment on it). IMO if not for W's pedigree and his family's US gov't connections he would have managed to get Bush Jr out of his way, one way or another. When Obama got elected there would be an occasional remark that it was to VP Biden's credit that he did not act upon the "new powers" of the VP brought in during his predecessor's time. I don't expect to hear details about this my lifetime, it probably won't come out until his children have passed on.
  10. “They let me out early because I was a good prisoner. Better than any other prisoner ever. The warden came up to me and said “Sir, we never had a prisoner as good as you . . . “ Oops, got him confused with someone else.
  11. You mean she was in office long enough to actually do something?
  12. He brought some entertainment to the MAGA mishigas. https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-lawyer-tries-grab-papers-from-msnbc-host-heated-exchange-2023-3?op=1 DT is an entertainer, his job is to entertain and the telly ratings are part of his psyche. DT's life is a reality show, and all the other characters who come and go, whether employees, supporters, adversaries, etc are his foils. Something like Fawlty Towers in style.
  13. I had to blow that pic up. Other than his golf pics, I don't think I've ever seen him without a tie. The way his collar is unbuttoned is suspicious. And yes, he looks like a homeless who stumbled in, the type the security will accost the moment he comes through the door.
  14. It was some years back that I liked the cornbread from a mix by a famous US company. One day I opened a box and found lots of little bugs of a type I'd never seen before. Oh well. Bought another box, same. Wrote the company a letter, they said it wasn't possible, they got into the box in my house (sealed in an airtight pouch?). Someone said they were weevils, but I was a city boy, I didn't know this stuff, and the nearest farm was at least an hour's drive away. Didn't buy their product again for a looooong time. OP: look into new ways of preserving things, like drying prawns or fish. Or different styles of pickling from around SEA.
  15. Dried cod (bacala/bacalau) is popular in Mediterranean countries and some in South America, Brazil in particular. Might be some entrepreneurial opportunity there.
  16. I suspect he might be much more skint than anyone outside the cabal is aware of, so doubling down on the insults, which doubles the damages (which is why this case is back in court), doesn't matter -- you can't get blood from a turnip. He's living off his pleas for $$$, and his congregation is obliging. When he does his begging fundraising he specifies that the $$$ be donated to one of his own entities, not the RNC. As a result, the party ain't looking good financially https://www.newsweek.com/multiple-state-republican-parties-going-broke-1858680
  17. The tsunami brought it a lot of attention, like cover stories in European magazines. Within a year it went from quiet, remote beach stay to a place where reggae echoes through trees at night. No solar back then, shacks on the beach were bare and cheap.
  18. And when there’s a crash — I hope it’s going to be during this next 12 months A true patriot, America first indeed! https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/god-made-trump-video/
  19. Maybe if when Covid hit he shouldn't have told the public that the epidemic was a hoax planted by the Democrats. Maybe it would have spared the lives of enough of his fans such that he would have won the 2020 popular vote. Losing voters in the most extreme way.
  20. Aw, and it's our loss to be deprived of all the new info and perspectives he would have shared with the world.
  21. Notice that he said he's suspending his candidacy. If the orange guy is removed from the ballot it's open season on the GOP candidacy.
