According to the BBC, they had been paid but one of the ladies demanded more.
It looks like he would have been a lot better off if he had just coughed it up.
.or not asked for extras.

Jingthing are you saying for a micro second that Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan are not Black extremists too? ,with respect I suggest you listen to some of their speeches ,cos they are right in the thick of this total fiasco.
Thanks for the heads up Colin, Al Sharpton, now who does he have known connections to?

I do find the sh1tstorm surrounding this case complete with allegations of racism flying about so easily as somewhat bizarre. If you juxtoposition one death, regrettable though it was, with the deaths of 200 Nigerian Christians blown up on Christmas eve, yet scarcely anyone cared to pass comment. Is a Hispanic redneck with a kosher sounding surname so much more odious than the Islamic terrorists of Boko Haram? I say this as the victims seem to share the same colour.
No - you're saying it to drag Islam into another thread that has nothing to do with Islam at all. Your post is completely off topic
Is that as seemingly off topic as the left wing agenda to conjoin the Trayvon Martin case with the Shaima Alawadi murder, so a catchy protest banner such as 'hoodies and hijabs' can be used to conjure up a right wing racist Islamophobe opponent to vilify? The latter case was dropped when it became clear the evidence did not fit the agenda, I expect the same with the former, however the OWS crowd have some synthetic cause to mobilize round which is anything to do with human rights. The dishonesty of some sections of the press and certain political activists is as cynical as it is nauseating and a reality check by way of reference to an external event was evidently needed.

Well put GK, unfortunately the radical Islamic Culture which is undoubtedly on the Increase especially in EUROPE want no part of your much appreciated (by this poster) outlook on lifeand you are Snow White in that aspect of course.
Last time i looked I had guy parts, so no chance of me being snow white.
I love you all the same and shall forgive your transgressions. And this is an illustration of the differences between cultures, some of which are more advanced than others. Some would want to put to death anyone that disagrees, However, my culture says that peaceful discourse and understanding of those that express doubts is a better option.
Indeed, the goings on in some Godforsaken part of the Earth should have little interest or relevance to anyone in the U.S or Europe except for the fact that European governments seem intent on importing culture enrichers by the boatload. Said influx then want to live under Sharia law, as per our Kuwaiti friends and the icing on the cake is our governments in their infinite wisdom seem intent on obliging them by applying foreign law for things such as blasphemy, so sadly this sort of item does have a bearing on us.

Don't really matter what I think, or what you think for that matter. What matters is a Democracy having the right to govern and enact laws as they see fit. With our without faith centric legislation. I just think it's nice to have topics like this so you can see who all the hateful bigots are. I told everyone form the beginning that this law is not about cracking down on the non Muslim residents it's a political tool for Sunnis to fight against the Iranian back Shiites vying for control over their govt.
But no one comments on that. It's all about how bad Arabs are and how cruel and oppressive Islam is, and about how F'ed up Kuwait is. Wow you guys really need a Boogie Man don't ya. At least they arn't blowing each other up in Kuwait like the Christian fundamentalists did in Ireland for decades.
Actually, these threads are indeed useful as they show who subscribes to the values of their home Countries and who obtusely persist with indulging in daft moral relativism. It shows just how much the rot has set in. During the cold war there was little argument against condemning communist regimes for locking up people for thought crimes - we called these prisoners of conscience. This self same situation you find in the Arab world, Kuwait seemingly joining Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in enforcing archaic blasphemy laws, except they go a step further than Russia pursuing the death penalty as oppose to imprisonment.
Your observation that the law is designed to suppress Shia Muslims is not without merit, however this does not in some way make it any better and whenever Christians are to be found such laws are used against them as a Pakistani Christian woman facing the death penalty proves; indeed these laws are used in Pakistan to settle grudges and in Kuwait I see the same danger.
P.S Since the overthrow of secular Saddam the Christian population in Iraq has declined by two thirds and Muslim persecution of Christians is now rampant throughout the middle east. So instead of resorting to attacks on certain posters why not address the issues that it is the behavior and ideology of some Muslims which is rightly being criticized, and it does not make anyone a bigot for so doing.

You have not seen the preponderance of evidence and either has anyone else on this thread.
No I have not, that's why the case should go to judicial review where all evidence can be evaluated and why your statement:
"If Zimmerman was attacked and defended himself and the preponderance of evidence proves it, he will be found not guilty if there is any justice."
is ill-judged premature nonsense. This is because it would be just as easy to say (foolishly and meaninglessly) the following:
"If Zimmerman was not attacked and wasn't defending himself and the preponderance of evidence proves it, he will be found guilty if there is any justice."
Why not see what the evidence does actually say? Something not truly possible without judicial review.
That's Lilliputian style semantics - UG was playing devil's advocate, that's all.

He was initially found to be insane, but that verdict was overturned so he will get his day in open court, so he will use this as an opportunity for his political soapbox. Whilst his actions were absolutely abhorrent they did not happen in a vacuum, which could have been argued if he was diagnosed as insane.

The President was not there yet. Are Secret Security Agents on the job 24 hours a day?
As representatives of the US government? Ya. 24/7 goes with the job.
.
yes indeed -there for the sole job of personally protecting the United States President at an international summit
which obviously entails pre arrival preparations.
'Pre arrival preparations' - Now that could become a euphemism.

The OP, if you re-read it, doesn't talk about what Mohammad did or didn't do. It talks about a political decision. It mentions that some people voted for it, others against it.
This thread will not be allowed to descend into an Islam bashing, rehash of events which are not even factually known to exist.
You know how it is, Haters gonna hate. Can't even have a rational talk about Islam, Muslims, Arabs or their Countries, without a bunch of bigots jumping out like monkeys to beat on their chest and throw crap around.
So do you think the death penalty for insulting someone who may or may not have ever existed is 'rational'?
-
The "compassion" posse is ready to hang a man with no real evidence that he is guilty.
But didn't he already 'hang a man' (well, shoot him)? Without any real evidence to show that his story is true? Surely it should be up to him to prove that he had to do it to save his own life? How can a dead person argue their case?
I'll stop asking questions here. The cultural divide is too great I fear.
That's not how the law works, ever heard of the phrase 'beyond reasonable doubt'?

They are paid not to give a shit.

I love the photo attached to the O.P article, it somehow seems most appropriate.

An off-topic post has been removed. Please restrict your comments to the OP, which is about the Kuwaiti government's use of the death penalty for insulting Mohammad.
A recap of what Mohammad did or didn't do is off-topic.
I can see this thread is about legal sanction, sure. However it is a little tricky to discuss if what Mohammad did is off topic, seeing as he is regarded as the 'perfect Man' by devout Muslims. If accurately talking of his recorded deeds is considered by some as an insult that in effect means we have a similar situation to the Thai LM laws, as I can freely comment on His Majesty's deeds providing that comment is not considered to be criticism - the power rests with those empowered with determining what constitutes criticism.
I can see why this is the case though.

I have an open mind as to what happened, indeed it is and should always be a matter for the police not the press or politicians. Alas, not only do we have this case which has been charged with overtones of racism but it has also been conflated with the murder of an Iranian woman called Shaima Alawadi, who was killed in her own home and a racist note was left by the presumed killer. So we have marches and protests for 'Hoodies and Hijabs' linking the cases. Both did indeed have one thing in common, a rush to judgement and blame before police investigations were even concluded. As it turns out there is a considerable chance that the Shaima Alawadi murder was actually an honor killing. It is perhaps a shame for those so quick and willing to play the race card that Zimmerman is hispanic and not white, however in today's post-news age why let facts get in the way of agenda?

It would indeed look politically embarrassing for some people if you are wrong.

The case seems leaky as a colander, but alas enough people who should really know better have run their mouths off making a man's liberty potentially a hostage to political factors.

Nobody is too big for a cavity search, in a way it is reassuring that immigration are equally obnoxious to everyone.
-
To me it seems 50/50 as to guilt or innocence. The information has been very confusing so far.
How do you find a jury who have not swallowed loads of soundbites from the press based on conjecture, supposition and quite frankly distasteful political opportunism?

Just to think we rescued the filthy rich sheikdom from Saddam the secular tyrant. If you want to play out the fable of the Emperor's new clothes on a global scale it is best to outlaw any discussion of the Emperor's attire under pain of death just in case the associated cult goes pop. Actually Robert Spencer has just written a book called 'Did Muhammad exist?' I guess he won't be traveling to Kuwait for any book signing. Kuwait has been moving in a more extreme direction of late in line with the Arab spring I guess, there are also calls for the removal of all churches from Kuwait and the prevention of more being built. Too bad nobody kicks up a giant stink about this so they continue down the asinine path they are now on where insulting their prophet is unacceptable on pain of death but calling for the removal of all churches is evidently acceptable.

And likewise I suggest that you exercise some introspection and restraint yourself with your made up and mis-quoted stats - "40% of British Muslims want Sharia law for Britain" the actual result the poll was actually "40% of British Muslims want Sharia law for British Muslims" - there is quite a difference.
Don't call me a "whinger" either - if you want to discuss something cut the name calling
Please carefully re-read what I wrote. Introspection was a suggestion for the Muslim community, not yourself, unless you are part of it. As for Sharia law, unlike Jewish law it does apply to non-Muslims as well as sundry Christians jailed for blasphemy can attest to. Sharia, like it or not, is viewed by many Muslims as Gods law, which explains why they view it as having universal jurisdiction, as 'Sharia controlled Zone' notices in areas of high Muslim population attest to.

No I am not at all. Europe has not exactly been the most tolerant place in even its most recent history. Take the Jews as an example, they have been kicked out of every European country at one time or another, forced to convert or killed en-masse.Same as many other groups who have been a little bit 'different' from the mainstream, even other Christians.
BTW = I deplore the desecration of any place of religious worship wherever it is located and the killing of anyone in the name of religion.
It's ironic that you cite the Jews as an example of past intolerance considering that 70% of the racist attacks on Jews in Europe are committed by Muslims. Indeed the intolerance seems to be a one way street with MP's who take views unpopular with some Muslims being threatened or attacked. Then we have the fact that 40% of British Muslims want Sharia law for Britain, I don't know the percentage in Australia but Sharia law makes all non-Muslims second class citizens and calls directly for violence against gays. Perhaps some introspection is required before whining about the lack of tolerance shown by Countries kind enough to make their health and benefits systems available to immigrants.

Actually if you read Huntington's Clash of civilizations and then peruse a map of Africa you can see how the European colonialists drew borders depending on the politics between themselves with no regard to the ethnic or religious mix of the areas they put together. This did cause enormous problems such as with Sudan. There is also the small matter of rivalries between English and French speaking areas too. Perhaps this led to many African Countries aligning themselves with communists when they started to take an interest in Africa; This was doubly unfortunate as the free market democracy model is demonstrably better, but in a post colonial world much of Africa backed the wrong horse.
There is a time limit for credibly blaming the past though and rolling sleeves up and making your own future has to happen eventually. First there is the thorny problem of establishing borders between populations which make sense locally, which is why equatorial Africa needs to separate imho from the predominantly Muslim Saharan areas.

The christians outnumber the Muslims. The state where the Easter bombings took place is in the north but have a Christian governor. Soon a new Nigeria will be born, that's part of reason why the core north is worried, they don't see themselves in any good light, after the transformation cos they have nothing to offer the federation except agricultural good and pre medieval diseases.
Guilty as charged relating to colonial map making causing big problems. I was always of the view that the situation in Nigeria would follow the same path as Sudan. Actually I suspect the Southern half of Nigeria is in a better situation than the southern half of Sudan because in the case of Sudan the oil pipelines all point North so Northern Sudan is holding the South to ransom. Actually in the long run Boko Haram may be doing the South a favour as the South keeps the oil and money and loses the bronze age savages into the bargain.

Instead of resorting to ad-hominim attacks perhaps it would be constructive to address facts. First, just for accuracies sake Muslims are not a race. Next to Enoch Powell; We don't as yet have rivers of blood I'll grant you, however using the prison population as a yardstick I do see a problem. Based on UK figures (2010) Muslims account for 3% of the population, yet at 12.6% they are over represented in the prison population. I have not managed to find corresponding numbers for Australia, but if they are similar then there is a problem to be addressed, especially with respect to immigration and border controls.
