  1. Imagine you get an award and you don't really care and you send your mother...
  2. What do they learn in those centers? The names of the current k-pop idols or what?
  3. Check Shopee, I'm seeing them for less than 3500 baht Personally I wouldn't want to (try to) buy them that way. I just checked Shopee. There are lots of offers for around 6,000B and it seems one offer for about 3,200 THB. Further down about that shop: Ratings 0, Response Rate 30%, Joined 15 days ago That doesn't sound like a shop I would trust.
  4. I know those "maps" existed. But I never paid any attention to them. I don't remember when the old Thermae was closed and the "new" one opened. I think it was before year 2000. The "new" one is obviously filthy enough but no comparison to the old one. The entrance to the old one was through the kitchen and the toilets - I forgot in which order. I can't pretend that it was my favorite place because it was always totally f$#% up - I think by design. But it is something that is difficult to forget.
  5. Maybe the first question should be: How much of it did you remember the next day: And then: How much of that would you rather forget? ????
  6. Lookup Richard Barrow on Twitter. He has lots of information about destinations all over Thailand. And he has the latest information about Covid rules, etc. I don't think there is any better source out there.
  7. My point was and is that we are not all the same. I.e. even in hot Thailand I like to sleep in a "cold" airconditioned room and cover myself and cuddle with my gf. So it seems that part is also not eliminated. There are so many "what is best" lists out there it's tiring. Or maybe it's more tiring that some people think there is the best solution which fits all.
  8. It seems guys in Thailand can be divided in two groups. The once which experienced that place (in the original location) and those who don't know it. I remember at that time I looked it up in the newsgroups on the internet - there was not much of a WWW. Users agreed that Thermae couldn't be compared to any other place. If you want to compare it at all then the nearest similar place was that bar in StarWars I ...
  9. There is no such thing as the perfect mattress! There might be such thing as the perfect mattress for each individual, but it won't be the same for all of us. I read a long test from experts in a foreign language about mattresses. It depends a lot on how you sleep (side, back, etc.). It depends on your weight, it depends on the climate (do you want a bed that keeps you warm or cool), and lots of different criteria. If you found what is good for you at that time and that place that doesn't mean it's also good for anybody else at another time and another place.
  10. How often do they have to pay that fine? Once a day? Once a year? Or once for the lifetime of that vehicle?
  11. 20% for a day is not enough. I recently gave all my money to a financial expert who told me about this 50% a day investment. It works! He sends me updates every day how I have every day 50% more money. I don't need the money in the moment and because I am smart I let it work for me. Just looking at those emails makes me happy. I guess in a month or two I will get all the cash and I will live happily ever after. Why are some people so stupid that they take 20% if they could have 50%? ????
  12. Make sure you lookup how those passport pictures should look like. For some countries there are very strict regulations. Sometimes it's possible to get passport pictures made in the embassy. They know for sure how they have to look like.
  13. You can buy them in pharmacies without problem.
  14. Some chiropractors do a fantastic job. I.e. Dr. Don was well known and respected. RIP But it's a dangerous job. If someone does it wrong then he/she can do a lot of damage. It makes a lot of sense that those jobs are regulated. And Thailand has the right and duty to decide who should be allowed to do this in Thailand.
  15. When I was a kid people talked about the morality of (football) player being sold and bought by football clubs. It seems nobody sees any moral issues with that anymore. I think Stephen Leather described it nicely in his last novel: "...but prior to that there was nothing to do other than sit and pretend to be interested in twenty-two multi-millionaires kicking a ball around."
  16. Really? Or is that just the view from the crazy hard right - the same people who just know that their hero won the election? It would be funny if it wouldn't be so sad.
  17. One of those words... It's always a question to which degree we are something like a globalist. But before we think about global aspects how about local aspects? I.e. if we live in the middle of Bangkok do we also think about the outskirts of Bangkok or even up country? Or Cambodia and Laos? All that is much nearer then the rest of the globe? I think Greta Thunberg explains it accurately with: “blah, blah, blah”
  18. Are the faded memories from years ago or yesterday? There are still lots of ladies in the streets - even if the bars are closed.
  19. There are lots of people in Thailand who are willing to spend a lot of money on food and wine. About all you can eat buffets: Aren't all buffets "all you can eat"? At least in the places where I go they are only called buffets and people know that they can go several times and can eat all they want. In my experience those buffets are often a better value than ordering al la carte. I.e. if I go to a "normal" restaurant and eat a soup, a main course and something sweet then the bill might be 1500 THB. For a buffet it's maybe 1000 THB with more choices and some drinks included. Some have also good free flow packages.
  20. I know from a good hotel with nice buffets which are often full of people that they get few bookings if they are not allowed to sell alcohol on that day. And that is the same for Thai guests, farangs who live here and tourist. It seems for lots of people a nice dinner is no nice dinner without alcohol.
  21. Next thing someone will suggest to make gambling, like playing cards, legal. Can't do that! Thais are good people! They don't gamble, would never pay for sex, etc. ???? And someone should think about all those police officers. Imagine they had no reason to collect some extra money to look the other way...
