  1. I shared a 1200 THB taxi minus tolls to Pattaya from BKK recently. Usually a number of takers at that time of night. First Jomtien bus at 0700. Why wait? Just ask around the queues, anyone going my way?
  2. One thing I never understand is how the police locate someone just from a CCTV picture. Ok, you've got a picture of them, but how does that lead to their exact whereabouts and subsequent apprehension?
  3. OP was at DMK
  4. The Mor Prom app and database, which was used extensively during the pandemic, was cited as a likely source by a government minister if you read the linked article: "Minister of Digital Economy and Society Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn offered an assurance that the suspect will be arrested, adding that authorities believe the suspect stole the information from the “Mor Prom” portal of the Ministry of Public Health."
  5. What do you think was hacked then?
  6. Over 50% of the ticket price goes in taxes and fees. My last round trip to Manila cost 10,335 THB, 6785 for the ticket, and 3550 in taxes and fees. And there is a totally Byzantine method for calculating seat prices. See below: https://simpleflying.com/how-airline-ticket-pricing-works/ and here's a link to US taxes and fees: https://www.google.com/amp/s/thepointsguy.com/guide/taxes-and-fees-airline-award-ticketthepoints
  7. Is there any dirty business Chinese nationals aren't involved in here in Thailand? Every day, kidnapping, ransom, blackmail, trafficking, smuggling, fake products, overstays, call centres, and it's supposed to be the source of the great tourist revival. Ah yes, just a few rotten eggs I guess.
  8. I think Ministry of Health. It was the Mor Prom site that was hacked apparently. That could mean 1000s of foreigners' details too will be vulnerable as a lot registered there for early bird Sinovac vaccinations back in 2020, if memory serves. There's an article in a publication I can't link to (forum rules). No doubt it will appear here at a later date. Update... The same information already appears in an article on this forum entitled "Army Transportation Dept." etc.
  9. "During the meeting, the ministry presented the plan developed by CAAT that includes increasing ground-handling operators, relaxing certain rules, offering incentives for airlines, and implementing a subsidy policy to help airlines fly to less popular destinations in the country." How exactly does this plan "tackle soaring ticket prices"? Seems to involve more costs, not less.
  10. Doesn't make much sense. Are there 2 in 1 ATM/Deposit machines? The guy who found it says it was in the dispenser. That's not possible. If the deposited money was in the deposit box, how did this guy see it? They open and close only with an ATM card, or card details, right? And the guy left the money there as he thought the transaction was complete? No receipt? No counting? Often there's a duff note that has to be refed. And on screen confirmation prompts. And how did the police trace the owner? CCTV?
  11. I can in part answer my own question. It's down to being sold duff SIMs by the Smart booth operators. There are batches of numbers that are not registered or whatever, so the BDO software doesn't recognise them. Seems like just another scam. Get a receipt!
  12. I need to make a will as I have property in Philippines. But the cost is ten times what I paid in Thailand. And proving a will seems to be a nightmare. Any experience/advice?
  13. I don't fly very often these days. But here are some other details that took me by surprise. 1. Arrived 3 hours before flight. Queue already a mile long. Overall took 1 1/2 hours to check in. Just 3 counters open. I'd already checked in online, got my seat etc. Made no difference. The "Bag drop" queue was full of people with multiple suitcases. 2. Arriving at Manila NAIA found I needed a QR code to register. No mention on the YouTube videos I watched. No mention preflight. Major hassle. 3. My bus connection went from Terminal 3. I was at Terminal 2. 200 PHP taxi ride between terminals. So my takeaway is, if you fly only a couple of times a year, you're going to get caught out one way or another.
  14. They weren't interested in the Erythritol, or the Inulin. Both are powders. They only removed the peanut butter. I guess it looked tasty. And I don't do checked luggage, ever. These were really small items. Less than 100g. I had a 100ml shampoo bottle, but you couldn't see the contents. Utterly pointless. Just bored "security".
  15. Err, 100g of peanut butter? So much wise after.
  16. What about blood? That's liquid until it splatters all over the inside of the cabin at 32,000 feet. Why aren't they draining it all out of our bodies before we fly? And urine? And we're 55-60% water. So basically were fluids. Inside a mesh of cells, muscle fibre, veins, arteries. We leak, we change shape. Why are we allowed to fly at all? Sorry sir, you can't take that body on the plane. You'll have to check it in. It can go in the hold. The rest of you can proceed. Next!
  17. The brand I buy in Thailand off Lazada is a great snack in small quantities. High protein, high fat, zero sugar, zero salt, zero additives, low carb. Easy, or so I thought, to transport. I was served an utterly revolting concoction of "chicken à la god knows what" in flight. Only version of peanut butter I can find at my destination, Philippines, is high sugar, palm oil laced, high salt. I try and go prepared for the dietary shock of Philippines, but the Thais put the mockers on that.
  18. Yeah, sure. But I had an equal amount of Shea butter in my laptop bag. And erythritol. And inulin. No problem! And a carton of Pla Ra? No problem! Or most popular of all, collagen. And so many security, so few brains.
  19. Going through departures baggage check, the checkers decided my 100g of peanut butter in a transparent screw top plastic container was probibited and removed it. I protested and put it back in my case. No, cannot, they take it out again. Why? Liquid! Not liquid. Food. I open and dip my finger in. They all pull faces of disgust. They don't even know what it is. I explain. Peanuts. No, cannot. Of course they win. But why?
  20. I've had this many times now. With 2 different S1mart Sims and a globe SIM. Neither BDO nor the phone companies have been any help. Any one got any advice?
  21. You mean Bono? I think he's still out there somewhere.
  22. Yeah, it was a real PITA signing up with them. I think it took me about 5 gos before I managed to suppress my rage long enough to get through. I think the last document I uploaded was a copy of my UK tax return.
