  1. I thought this had been resolved. Now it's cropped up again it seems. China had agreed to restart Thai turian imports, after banning them, but now it seems they've stopped again. What are the Thai producers doing? Or are these from Chinese proxy owned orchards/packing stations down Chantaburi way?
  2. I flew in one, BKK to MNL. I was impressed. Two aisle, plenty of leg room, good high ceiling so you don't feel cramped and claustrophobic. Cebu Pacific. A very nice flight.
  3. I'm always impressed when I see an update on a crime, stating the perpetrators have been nicked. I mean, 3 lads, aged between 16 and 18, at 10pm, are somehow tracked and traced. How do the old bill do it? They seem very good at finding the bad boys. My plea would be, catch the noisy buggers on their big bikes blasting up and down Pattaya's main roads. Confiscate their machines. I believe their are laws limiting noise emission. Otherwise, well done!
  4. Oh no, not freedom of speech, please! It's not God given, you know. It may or may not be in a country's constitution or legal framework. And it comes with provisos. Doesn't mean you can say whatever you want without taking the consequences. It's like the old behind the bar pub sign: "Please do not ask for credit, as a smack in the mouth often offends!" Ah, the old English wit. And I take it you've conducted a properly managed poll of all AN contributors to establish "Not many who miss him." End of.
  5. Why don't you just give it a rest, eh? Nothing nice to say then best say nothing. He always came across as an extremely nice man, not a shred of ill will to his fellow man in him. I'm sorry he's no longer a contributor. Gave a human touch to a lot of what I read here now.
  6. Wrlife... In the last month, 9 days inpatient treatment for cellulitis, 250,000 THB, covered. One night colonoscopy and associated treatment, 115,000 THB, covered. Waiting to hear about possible next procedures. Up to 30 days follow up costs, and all meds covered. 10,700 THB pm. Age 75. 2 year moratorium on Afib, now completed, so now covered. Good customer service on Thai number, non Thai CS personnel. To date, no complaints, but as they say in the investments trade, past performance is not a guarantee of future performance. And of course, as always, YMMV.
  7. Early diagnosis of cancer could be anything. An annual check up, for instance. Was it the treatment that cost a fraction of the Thai price? Weren't you insured?
  8. AMA motorbikes on Soi Buakhao. Used to be Jack motorbikes. Rentals and sales, new and second hand. I've used them for over 10 years. Bought my latest bike there. All paperwork etc taken care of and in order. Family run business. Nice people.
  9. You didn't make the claim as I pointed out. Are you Israeli? Were you denied entry?
  10. That's hardly reliable evidence to back up the claim, which you didn't make in any case. It was @Jingthing. Malaysia will no doubt feel the wrath of the US who will block any move against Israel in the UN, although there have been many, which Israel simply ignores. The US is the enforcer standing behind the criminal Israeli government. A marriage made in Hell.
  11. I searched for a reference for this but couldn't find one. In November 2024 PM Anwar was talking ofctabling a motion tobexpel Israel from the UN. And Malaysia has banned Israeli flag carrying shipping from its ports. But I couldn't find any reference to forbidding entry to Malaysia for Israelis. A long time ago I used to get the cheap "Iron Curtain" airlines from LHR to BKK. The Russians didn't like Israelis at all, and made life extremely difficult at immigration. We were often held up for hours while they argued about it. They'd stamp a separate piece of paper, not the passport. I think a necessity for Israelis wishing to travel in the Middle East and maybe elsewhere.
  12. Thank you GG. I believe there is a difference too. I've always had a great admiration for the Jews I've known and worked with. But (ultra) nationalism is a very different kettle of fish, across all religions, political beliefs, ideologies. If you can't live alongside each other, there'll always be strife.
  13. It was in reference to @SAFETY FIRST, not you.
  14. "What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence." See "Hitchens's razor", named after Christopher Hitchens who coined the phrase.
  15. Yes. It's not a bad read for Thai news. But has some most annoying unnecessary conjunctions in the copy. Not sure if it's AI doing it. "Certainly", "at length", and so on.
  16. Except it doesn't mention their racial origin, only their nationality.
  17. It's being reported elsewhere they've been deported.
  18. The entitled Israelis can do anything they like.
  19. Where in Soi Buakhao was that? I've never seen instant coffee for 80 THB anywhere.
  20. The Philippines has been running this system for more than 2 years. You register prior to departure for your Philippines destination, get the QR code, and just do a screenshot of it. They do ask to see it. I suggest for those without a smartphone, they register on a pc, laptop, or whatever other capable device they have, and print out the QR code. YMMV. In theory it's all in a good cause, allowing the tracking of dodgy geezers and geezesses.
  21. Hi. Just thought I'd update on my solution. I bought an Aiwa NB-A23E BT headset. About 1200 THB from Lazada. Good quality, and works great. Fairly easy setup on my Samsung UA55 TV. Can recommend but YMMV. Cheers y'all!
  22. Born in Year of Tiger, I've got a 50% chance of yet another rubbish year according to one chart I saw.
  23. Yes, "large" doesn't work in 7s either. Always "Yai" or "big".
