  1. The Continental on Thappraya opens at 0530 every day. Huge selection of breakfasts, lunches and dinners. It's just past the Thepprasit junction on the left, heading towards Jomtien. Old style Swiss, I think. But almost any European style. I've not come across anywhere else serving a thoroughly decent breakfast at that time in the morning. Beats the 7s into a cocked hat, kippers and all. Bakery and home made yoghurt.
  2. I've decided exercise is extremely bad for me. I'm quite happy sitting around doing nothing most of the time. I go to the sauna every day, sweat like crazy, cold pool, hot pool, float in the swimming pool. I'm surrounded by gyms, and consequently he man heaven. But why do they do it? Load up on carbs, load up on weights, the never ending story! No or very lo carb diet will keep your weight in check without all that. The fitness industry. It'll kill you!
  3. Can't he learn how to pronounce Pattaya properly?
  4. Sure, and reforming the military, increasing minimum wage, guaranteeing graduates 25k pm. Lowering energy costs might go through as a populist measure I guess.
  5. Funny, I thought everybody was
  6. I need a 3 month hassle free bridging loan of 300,000 THB. Where would I start? Retired, non imm O, pension. No other income. Investment maturity in December.
  7. Another day, another vote buyer bites the dust.
  8. I'm paying 1800 a quarter. I've discovered I very rarely use it. The movies are quite obviously downloaded from eg pirate bay. Foreign ones often don't have subs. The audio and video on many need a lot of adjustments as they're way out of sync. Some series just conk half way through. As for sport. Well I get a much better Eurosport feed from my cable providers. No ads. There's no Premier channel 3 for rugby. I'll be looking to switch providers.
  9. They're an Estonian Savings and Loan Association offering "attractive" rates. 7.5% and up. But, can you get your money back?
  10. Yes indeed, a very interesting topic. See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guanxi And https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bamboo_network Sretha is 3rd generation Chinese. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Srettha_Thavisin I think "most favoured son" might be an apt description of his relationship with Xi.
  11. They did attend. They were almost all present. But they didn't "log in" so to speak. A form of protest. They showed up, unlike their counterparts in government, but refused to make up the quorum while most of the government MPs couldn't be bothered. Serves the stupid lazy smug coalition MPs right. KK made their point effectively and precisely.
  12. Bloomberg reports Sretha to take financial ministry himself
  13. A brief summary of his calculation follows below: – Salaries of the House Speaker, Deputy House Speakers divided by 31 days, averages 10,968 baht a day; – Salaries of MPs, senators and their teams divided by 31 days totals 5,921,129 baht a day; – Travel expense (real cost refundable); – Electricity and water expense based on data from 2020 totals 1,609,848 baht; – Location expenses calculated on the cost of running a large dining hall for 500 people, parking for 900 vehicles, 12 other rooms, Internet fees and salaries of cleaning staff, car park attendants and security guards. All this adds up to a loss of 8,291,945 baht each time the House meeting collapses, Sasinan wrote but signed as “The People”, These look like standing costs, incurred whether or not the MPs turn up. 1.6m a day for water and electricity? 6m a day for salaries? Nothing to do with lack of quorum.
  14. There are other forces at work now.
  15. I wonder if the NACC has tipped him off that they can't cover for him any longer so he'd better make himself scarce. Dubai maybe?
  16. Cue the scrapping of the whole scheme along the lines of the 300 THB landing fee at Thai airports, for want of thinking the whole thing through and not just dangling it there as a vote buyer. PT should be mauled and hauled up in front of the EC for vote buying. It was never anything more than that and now they're left with egg all over their faces when it comes to the deadline for coughing up. They don't have the funds and they wouldn't know how to deliver it in any case. I give this ship of fools (stultifera navis) 3 months.
  17. <deleted>tah is Xi's man. It's in his blood.
  18. Mmmm, love Chinese food.
  19. God help the gullible Thai public when life sized AI figures of famous Dara start inviting them to send their $ today. Programmed to scam!
  20. Trust me, I'm a ̶c̶x̶x̶x̶ doctor.
  21. "Every policy must be implemented, but how soon depends on the reality of the situation and various other factors,” he said. Amongst the "various other factors" are, of course, Pheu Kray's selling its electorate up the Swanee, cohabiting with the military junta, stabbing MFP in the back in their desperate scramble for power and trough, and securing a deal for Thaksin. Great start guys and gals. Can it get any worse?
  22. Out in Pratamnak I don't see any Chinese tourists. Maybe their coaches, but that's it. Same in Jomtien on my brief visits. Where have all the Chinese gone? And Russians. Very few of them around now. The Russian bike rental shop I use as a gauge is chockers with unhired bikes. In fact, all I see are Indians and Middle Eastern folk. 4 to a bird and 3 to a bike. And loathed by all the working girls.
  23. A simple request. Has anyone contact details of a visa agent in Pattaya who deals with applications for a Chinese tourist visa please? And please, no why on earth, I hate China, etc etc. I'll just report you for off topic.
