  1. Went to Chedi today asking for X Mas eve buffet lunch. Its two thousand bath-ish with the option of unlimited wine or unlimited champagne. Unfortunately mother and the wife don't drink. Normally a dish here cost around 700 bath so I think 2000 baht is not expensive at all!

Yeah, the Chedi is a little pricey, but the setting is beautiful and tranquil, the food excellent, food choices are overwhelming, staff seems to read your mind and there's holiday entertainment. Plus, free flow of red and white wine. I suppose if you didn't enjoy wine, it might seem pricey, but if you'd otherwise want a couple of glasses of wine with your holiday lunch, then it's really a very good deal for a five star experience.

  2. I always go to The Shangri La every years and it's been pretty much the same. This year I'm looking for another lunch X mas buffet for the family. Other than the obvious Duke's, where else would you go? Where did you go last year and enjoy? Thanks all

  3. Pasta Cafe on Nimmanhaemin is not exactly a fine dining place but food is a lot better than at least Kantary hills and Four Seasons (and cheaper). I'd also recommend River Market as a good place to enjoy the view and the food, excellent service.

  4. Yok don't have something that Chiang Mai Baker Mart has e.g. rye flour, multimalt mix etc.. and they don't have cookies sheet.

If Yok's does not have what you need I'll be surprised, they have just about everything else that a baker can imagine.

  5. We are having a meeting in the next few months, any friendly expats who want to make Thai friends are so welcome to the Chiang Mai Jazz Festival team meeting or join us as volunteer (I'm a volunteer my self). Please PM me if you are interested to the future meeting( which will be at least another 5 months). We are looking forward to a good friendship and constructive criticism.

  6. Warming up water for a baht? With wood?

Over many previous years at this time in Nov. we would of had several sit-around night fires and be warming up water for a bath.....this year I still have fan on into the evening.......I never thought I'd say this..."Winter, where are you!"

  7. Thanks for the inputs! I'm one of the team and I was curious about the price too. I asked around last night as well that the ticket price was seem a bit too high for some artists lineup.

What happening was the ticket price 650 bath was barely cover the cost of operation including some international artists and 5 hours of music. After the storm we have the best jazz performance night with Simone and Neung Jakkawal & Steve Cannon. I wasn’t happy in many ways how the concerts went however we had so little budget and with a team of three people doing the whole thing. We had difficult time getting sponsor due to the major flood last year. Most sponsors except Nokia were not too keen. But as it turned out the place was also packed also last night. I would like to ask you to come back and give us another shot, thanks.

  8. Due to unforeseen heavy rain and storm last night, bad situation get worse, we tried to continue our music event by moving the stage in-door. Outdoor stage was unusable but all we had were some great audiences and big heart musicians that sticked with us until the end.

With unbelievable audience participation, yet we somehow manage to find a way to comfort us through such unfortunate event , last night we had one of the most “mesmerizing performance” in Chiang Mai.

That’s why we would like to thanks all our audiences last night by grant those who have the Chiang Mai Jazz Fest 24 November ticket, free entry tonight (Sunday 25 November 2012) .

  9. It wasn't so tame in Night Safari! Our Jazz Fest was nearly annihilated!

Interesting; it was a pretty tame affair in Hang Dong, by comparison. I closed two windows on the Western side if the house for a couple minutes and that was it. Oh, also moved some chilli seedlings under cover. Appreciated the cool breeze.

  10. I've never heard of this place, where is Pullman? thanks

I would have loved to go to Pullman but I just could't justify the ฿1200. buffet tag. I love their fare but I'll spread out that cost on several (4) visits and enjoy that instead.

  11. I think they eat chicken or turkey schnitzel

    Quoted from Wikipedia

"Immigrants to Israel have incorporated elements of the cuisines of the cultures andcountries from whence they originated.[1] During approximately fifty years before 1948, there were successive waves of Jewish immigration, which brought with them a whole range of foods and cooking styles. Immigrants arriving from central Europe brought foods such as schnitzel and strudels, while Russian Jews brought borsht and herring."

Passed by a few times over the last month or so. Looked interesting. But since when is a schnitzel Israeli food? Maybe Austrian, German, Slovak, etc...but Israeli?

  12. I don't know if kids will have better quality of life here, at least education-wise. Living here is best suitable for some experienced alfpha male looking for a second chance.
