Most people say that the Chinese food in Singapore and Hong Kong is better than mainland China. I suspect that one could add San Francisco to that list.
That's depends wife said from where she went food was oily and tasteless but I just got back from Kunming food was better that Jia Tong Heng.

All I said was that he is a smart guy and a role model for all, whats wrong with quoting the facts

Kruwa Jeen is not great but good enough for me. They have things like sweet and sour pork and lemon chicken to satisfy my craving for Chinese take out.
The Chinese shrimp salad mayonnaise is as good as any fancy place...
Aristide or any others who've been to Kruwa Jeen, do you have any recommended dishes ? I notice the sign there on Mahidol all the time now as I'm headed towards Airport. Very close to stopping by, but would like an inside scoop on the place first. Seems not very fancy from what I can tell - and hole in the wall is fine by me.

They are exactly the same as my parent love it so I often have to eat at this Jia Tong Heng both branches.
I don't want to cause trouble and I do believe that it is a personal choice but come on, Jia Tong Heng can not be the most authentic Chinese cuisine in CM at all. They are Thai-Tae-jew food but more on the Thai side.
Haven't tried this one (if this is the place near Teppanya Hospital) but the place I mentioned above is the most authentic Chinese cuisine I have had so far in Chiang Mai.

That's all I need to know, he's the real deal and he is no one's son.
I know there are a few falangs that work like this but I have met the police volunteer you are talking about an Australian. He helped me out of a situation i found my self in with the police and i could not be more grateful. like may people on here i did not understand why people would volunteer there time and was as guilty as some of you of writing rubbish about these decent people that work for the police. This man helped me and was not on any power trip. he worked for 25 years for the Australia Federal Police including a posting in Thailand for many years he speaks fluent Thai and has a good understanding of Thai law he works with and under the instruction of the Thai police.

Thanks so much for the info!

I don't have any intention to eat chicken feet (or any other culinary oddities) nor will I ever ride (or be a passenger on) a motorbike.
I do though try to understand and be respectful towards Thai culture and social norms. For example, I try to remember not to hold my wife's hand in public.
In Thailand you can hold your wife's hand. But you should not hold another man's hand or hug etc.
And Thai don't normally eat Chicken feet.

I hear from local musicians that North Gate is now immune to such inquisition

I didn't know Thai eat cockroaches?

I'm sure a few Thais want to shout at some farang too particularly when they bring some prostitutes to the condo swimming pools.

I think Thais are more polite in general than in the past. Particularly in the civil services department.
English is much more widely accepted and understood.
-
In any case I personally think it's a shame that most Thai judge their fellow Thai people by their ability to speak English! Many highly educated Japanese or Europeans don't speak English because they refuse to!

They have quite a interesting sushi combination at the River market. I was there earlier than 11 and the staff couldn't be happier serving us although the sushi chef wasn't there Thai food was also excellent.

For local roaster that use local beans agree.
Akha Ama coffee, best in town.

Any lunch highlight? I hear about a Chinese joint that make braised pork knuckle in Mae Sai.

Not exactly staring at the ribs while they are being cooked! I refer to an art form of BBQ as a gentleman will need constant care adding the charcoal one by one to balance the temperature every hour or so. Besides BBQing is a man only activity as no women allowed to be a tong master
Learn to BBQ and smoke some ribs. Smoke ribs will take 6 hours.
Are you infering that he should spend his time looking at smoked ribs for 6 hrs

That's for me a big no no, I'm too tired already even thinking about it. BBQing is like taking care of something for hours but you get to eat it in the end.
Start a family. Once the kids arrive, you'll be busy
