If somewhere near on Suthep is easier for you to get to regularly I recommend a place nearby called RISTR8TO on Nimmanhaemin Road like the address on the photo. If you know where Kasem store is then it is located almost across the road. The dude takes his coffee business very seriously with a reasonable price for good quality coffee.

That actually happened to my group once. Although we didn't exactly ended up with food for a week, we underestimated the portion size of the food .

The last 3 times I was there over the last 2 months or so I was either the only farang there or there was only one other table with farangs. Same at The Dukes. I've been there 4 times over the last 2 months both during the day and in the evening. Each time there were at least 50% or more Thais dining there. And in all the restaurants, the Thais tend to order many more dishes than the farangs.

...which means they're in for the shock of their lives if they do that at Dukes for the first time, and end up with food for a week.

I tried Thomp coffee van and I would not recommend this place unless you want to by Thomp coffee bean.

But again may be he has improved.

Does anyone know where the Thomp coffee van is near on Suthep ? Easier for me to get to regularly if it is 5 star coffee !

For a family style moo baan I recommend something like Ban Nai Fan Chiang Mai near Doi Sutep.

IMHO they are all the same G&M. The one behind Big C is in the CM business park. Another one in Kad Suan Kaew and the main branch where WinnieTheKhwai has the map. Personally I don't enjoy the food and if I want their sausages I will buy them at Rimpings.

If you like G&M sausages you don't have to go trough the complicated map to get there. Just visit the easier ones.

It's behind Big C Super Highway. No sign, no ambiance, "as-is". Ended up there one night by accident. Don't bother with it. It's German food aimed at the Thai palate (and all Thai clientele). Think - sausages with sweet Thai sauce, pork with chili sauce, potato salad with sugar and bits of meat in it. I'm part German, lived in Germany, and never had German food like that before!

The place I am talking about is definitely called G&M German Restaurant. I didn't catch WTK's post before and don't know anything about that place. The place I am referring to has been there for about a year now but it is difficult to spot as there are no signs on the windows or door. Maybe there is a sign up at the top somewhere but I have not noticed it. A Friend went there recently and also found it to be very disappointing.

Yes, ~ 5% cheaper than competitors for most imported foodstuffs. Quality of fresh produce is excellent - pork and chicken appears to come from Betagro, of which there's a small factory outlet shop on Suthep road, opposite Faculty of Pharmacy. Betagro pork belly @ ~ 120Bt/kg !
