I've had enough of the Tourist Ghettos in Thailand!
theblether replied to BarBoy's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Head for Chiang Saen for the Saturday night riverside market. Chill out and watch the lights of Laos' casinos, eat on the steps next to the river. Give yourself a treat and go to the Opium Museum just out of town ( there's two ). The one out of town is well worth a visit. Its past the Golden Triangle viewing on the left hand side heading to Mae Sai. -

I have a rented house there - been in that village back and forth since 2014, house rented since 2017. I'm currently in Hua Hin, need to head back to Scotland soon due to an illness in the family. What's your thoughts on Fang? It gets bypassed ( literally ) by everyone. To me it's a great place to base yourself with access to Mae Ai, Tha Ton, Doe Mae Salong all within striking distance. Fang also has a good nightlife scene. Doi Lang is well worth a visit too - I'm on that mountain a couple of times every year at the restaurant which overlooks Myanmar. Great place. -

Don't tell him about Phrao!!!! -
The spending bill was reduced to bullet points by Grok AI. I have no doubt that DOGE will submit every government budget it can to AI inspection. On top of that private individuals, DOGE volunteers and organisations such as Judicial Watch will be all over the spending plans like a rash. The only genuine - and to be fair - necessary objection - would be spending related to national security issues. We can't be having the Chinese know about secretly funded weapons programs. These are the types of black holes that the "deep state" can burrow into.

Overstay: Where to surrender yourself?

Phone the embassy. Get the passport issue sorted out first. Everything else will follow. You do want to minimise the time spent in IDC, there is no benefit to spending excess time behind bars. The process in IDC can be clinical, they have seen and heard it all before. So the gold standard here is to achieve what Philip said, arrive at an international airport, pay the fine, and leave. It all starts with a passport, call the embassy today. -
Yup, that line will be along in five minutes 555 Anyway, today ( US time ) is the first day in the history of the US that the American public got access to an entire spending bill before the vote. It doesn't matter of you are a Dem or Republican, that's a big deal. So I'm going to say: Congratulations, USA.

I use X. I constantly mute people for various reasons. I said the other day that I have the word "Trump" blocked. I'll see enough about him through other accounts without my timeline being swamped. People who are leaving X due to "white supremacy" etc are telling on themselves. It takes two minutes to mute racist accounts and contrary to opinion, some of the most racist accounts you'll see are by Asians. I don't see any sexual content, that's all blocked, but I do see plenty of cultural threads, football and other sports. The X timeline is what you make it. All I know about Bluesky is that its apparently are dominated by leftwingers. I see plenty of left wing comment on Twitter so no need to go there.

And I note the Democrats new attack line, describing Musk as "President Musk." They are enraged that he has brought upon them the one thing they could not afford to lose - the end of their grip on the news narrative. $44 billion for Twitter was cheap. And Grok AI alone ( part of Twitter ) has already changed the political narrative.

I find it interesting that people are enraged by the idea of transparency. American politics will never be the same again for one simple reason - Artificial Intelligence read the entire spending bill just blocked in Congress in seconds and summarized the contents, To put that into perspective the spending bill was 1500 pages of dense legalese. One of the provisions was a vast increase in pay for Congress as well as enhanced health benefits. X users cracked - the spending bill was ripped to pieces in realtime. This is a genuine "for the people" moment as people were able to track exactly what Congress was proposing. The amazing thing? Dick Durbin, one of the most senior Democrats, had no idea that the pay increase was part of the bill. I can see some friction points in regards to the inclusion of AI in the body politic, but exposing pork barrel and stupid policies before a vote can only be a good thing.

See. This guy thinks he'he's switched on. Democrats are throwing their hands up. The sane ones know they accepted scumology as facct
-
BTW- accept at this GG is a bitter lonely man. No sane man on planet earth wakes feeding his sad dragon. Pitiful.
-
Some truth in that. What's more true is the offense the left takes v differing opinions.
-
The level of stupidity is astounding. More Democrats use X than Republicans. Anc yet some of you think it's a right wing dominated platform. Utterly clueless.
-
BS. I dont read that drivel. The problem with people like you is that you can't engage without hitting the gutter.
-
I've used up.my quota for dealing with witless trolls today. But I'll be nice to you as you are clearly a lonely man. The next time you press send, will.it be a nice message? Or yet another reflection of your deep unhappiness with life? .

Trump is not negotiating. He is repeating the Biden administration's demand for the hostage release. As a private citizen, he is allowed to do so and it clearly has not occurred to you that Trump is demanding a foreign policy win for Joe Biden. Please feel free to explain why it is against the Logan Act for a private individual to express support for US government policy.

X ( Twitter) is destroying the main stream media. The user numbers are astronomical and the level of high quality information is incredible. Without X Trump wouldn't have won as X has strangled many fake media stories at birth. Community Notes are the best moderation tool on the Internet. The commentary is often hilarious 😂. The strange thing is the political balance. 48% Democrat, 47% Republican. Places like BLUESKY are Democrat dominated. You don't learn anything by not listening to the other side. Van Jones explains why Democrats need to get off the "Trump is an idiot" train and the importance of the new media here.

Kash Patel's "Government Gangster" Hit List

Trump has won. The only question is the scale of victory If Trump retains Congress at the midterms The Dems are forked forever -
By the way, I don't really care if Musk achieves his $2 trillion target. As far as I'm concerned $200 billion would be a magic result. I'm more interested in the deregulation. If the US economy booms then we all win unless you're a gibbering deranged Democrat that can't stand the idea of American success under Trump. And there's plenty of them.
