  1. Small update, as I'm just back from Phnom Penh.

Used the guy near Paddy Rice as recommended. He was a bit confused as I had my form already filled in on the computer. Seems not a lot of folks doing that. Had copies of my BankBook, but he prefered the printout of my foreign bank account. Had flight tickets in and out of Thailand, but he just took the flight out with him. I was thinking to use an old ticket and just change the dates accordingly, but then I found a pretty cheap return flight to EU for 540€, so I had a real one anyways. He told me as well, there might be a chance that the consulate might request an interview, so that might be more common nowadays, however everything went smooth in my case.

    Cost 50 US$.

Flow in to Swampy with Thai, (they were actually cheaper than AirAsia).

Almost empty plane, only short waiting time at immigration. Had a printout of the flight tickets, and a bit over 20K bath. Nothing needed, no questions asked, so easy process.

Will mail the guy next year, if everything still the same, so I'll take eventually the bike down there, if the plane ticket into Thailand is not needed.

Looks like a restaurant which wants to attract only homosexual males as straight males will not find it interesting to look at half naked male bodies while having a nice dinner. I would much like to look at girls in short skirts or even long dresses, rather than these men.

Or the owner is much more clever, and attracts a lot of females without their better halves,

  3. Well sorry for her, but it seems to me she forgot where she comes from. Those traps can be found all over the country at any time. Unfortunately, the reality is far away from what she sees in the daily soaps.

Remember walking down a dark street in Jakarta once, where 2x1m covers were completely missing, out of curiosity I walked back next day in daylight. It would have been 4-5 meters, if you don't drown or anything else, the rats would have done the rest.

  4. Well I'm planning to stay around 2 weeks anyways, so that's not the point, if it takes 1;2;3;or 4 days. Used the hotel last year, for the visa, but who knows who they used. The Agent near Paddy rice seems to have a quite good reputation, better than Lucky, but most of the bad reviews (Lucky) were about their bikes. Paddy is just much closer as I'll stay closer to the riverside nowadays. BTW, didn't have a Guinness for quite long time. :burp:

  5. Time to dig this out again, hope no recent changes. Would need a Setv. Checked my PP, currently only 2 METV's in and one SETV from Phnom Penh last year. Bangkok Bank book is available, which will show Funds arriving from outside, could eventually been covered with the foreign account as well. Would have flight tickets in/out PNH, but the flight to overseas most probably not yet, however could get a cheap 30$ AA trowaway ticket if needed. Hotel bookings getting for free on Agoda, just cancel them in due time, never bothered to get anything written from my Landlord.

Worst case szenario, getting over to Vientiane and apply there. Are there buses from PnH to Vientiane without crossing Thailand, have one exempt entry left, but wanna keep it for emergeny.

Was probably wise off the shop owner to give a 5000 reward, police acted quickly. Can't make up the article, "Accidentally stolen iPhone X" :cheesy:

I have to admit I'm an Apple hater, but 47K for an IPhone X is that the price??

However, extort as much money out of those scum Russians as possible, so you're sure they'll wont be back.

I dont like to be ripped off and always take it very personal...BUT this guy has to be the biggest idiot ever, he could have stopped this at the Airport or anywhere on route by saying the words STOP THE TAXI NOW; he could even say it in thai:saai:.

He will regret this day in his life as thais have a long memory and if he thinks there will be no Immigration investigation leading from this then his 2 years in thailand have taught him nothing...also good luck with your next visa run & future taxi drivers in BKK.

Well, In my career, I came only once across such a scum artist, on the 4th floor I have to admit, in more than 10 years. I stopped it since. Do you realize, that those magic "stop taxi now" words leave you in the middle of the <deleted> highway?? And if you wanna complain, I just hope you travel very light, or you wanna start that discussion with luggage in the trunk?

For my part I was getting away so far pretty easy with taxi drivers in BKK, but I did not use them in crowded areas like Suk, Silom a.s.o., better walk off to the next bigger street and wave one down, or even easier use the public transport, never an issue with them, sometimes even free.

  8. So, all kidding aside: Are there anywhere specifications available, which determine what water guns are now legal and which one illegal?? I mean like max pressure; operational pressure; tank capacity; nozzle diameter; water velocity and/or pressure at nozzle exit; reloading capacity in sec. a.s.o. I have still 2 in the house, which are not the pressurized type. I didn't use them last year, nor did I intend to do so this year, however the risk of a raid is extremely likely, I did not a good job to hide them away. For the time being they're of no use as I need to open them and fix reinforce the hoses inside.

On a second thought, could I just bring them to the local Amphoe and/or next police station to get them registered, or let's say tagged as "safe" ?

I would eventually suggest to all people in Thailand who want to use a similar water splashing device to get them registered at there nearest police station.

Ohh BTW: All others, who don't want to use them could meanwhile file a complaint, for being assaultet with illegal war weapons....:saai:

It is because it  promotes the harvest of the coral.

The loss of coral destroys the  marine life around Thailand resulting in a dmaged ecosystem which translates into reduced fish stock, loss of habitat and loss of the recreational dive market.

Well, you're sure right on this, but how about to go for the souvenir shops and/or those who get them the corals in the first place? Oh, silly me, they might be Thais. The Russians were just a much easier prey, with much more money to extort. Not that I have much sympathy for Russians in general, but that's another point.
