Do they have modeling agencies in Chiang Mai? Every medium-sized town in the U.S. has modeling agencies where you can hire gals like you describe for legitimate work, for example as "booth babes" at an industrial trade show. I organized the displays for my employer at shows like this and some shows even included info about how to hire models along with the packet exhibitors got for ordering carpeting, booth cleaning services, electrical work, exhibit construction, loading dock assistance, plants to decorate the booth, etc.

You're better off to go with a professional model for this type of work rather than just hiring some college girl or bar worker who agrees to do it on a lark. The pro will arrive on time, follow direction and wear shoes she can stand in for 10 hours despite their 4-inch heel. They'll understand their purpose is to help you sell your product (or whatever), rather than securing dates for themselves.

Why don't you go to the Chiang Mai auto show, currently being held at the Big C Center on the superhighway. If this a legimate deal, talk to someone there or to the girls directly and see what you can come away with.

just in my close circle there are 5 babies between the ages of 2-3 - all who would be game.

not everybody in pai has $$$, however you would be surprised, and moreso, everybody in pai has mothers in rich countries who are freaking out because there is no suitable education in pai - so for the right cause, I do not doubt that money can be found

the india expat forum is called "india mike" and its a bit hit or miss.

If that does not work out, I will try to buy a new one directly from store.apple.com and let them deliver it to my home here in Thailand. This should solve all difficulties with customs, taxes etc. Special thanks to cmsally for this tip.

unless it is shipped from within thailand you may have customs disaster and apple wont care.

incidentally, if you have time for a trip to KL, MACs are maybe %15 cheaper in RM and there is no Tax there - so you pay for the ticket and save a few bucks if you get it there. and of course no Thai keyboard

I recall some members posting here who had moved from Goa (I think) to Chiang Mai. My search failed to locate their messages. They seemed unhappy with India/Goa and I'd like to know why. I have visited India a few times, so have a rough idea of living conditions there.

I have done some snooping on the internet but am still unclear which visa (if any) might allow a person to legally work from home, via internet?

Any thoughts on the best place to start out, before selecting an area in which to live?

120k is steep, I would pay it because I can, but would have to research other folks and their pocketbooks.

earlier this year, all the parents got together and we counted about 30 luek-kruengs between the ages of 2-8 in Pai so that is a good start. And probably another 10 from BKK families who would appreciate decent english education.

few weeks ago here in pai, they sent undercover whatever with hiddden cameras into all the telephone shops and got them on tape loading up telephones with 'illegal' mp3s

the police then showed up a week later with the video and demanded 40k baht per shop
