  1. So, I guess I could be facing charges of tax evasion. My guesstimate is that the missing tax amounts to maybe 50-80K baht.

Just out of curiosity, who exactly told you this information?

    meaning that...

I dont know anything about your situation or whoever told you this information, but based on my experiences in thailand there is most likely more than a %50 chance that the person that told you this information is fudging it a little to get a payout from you.

    just a thought.

these things have been known to happen... :)

  2. My wife and I are thinking about a trip up north for a week or so and thought we would stop off in Pai for a nite or two. Can anyone recommend a mid-range place to stay?

Pairidice or next door, Sundon Doi are on hills over looking the valley and very nice. go over the bridge and hang a left towards vieng noir and you will see both on your right.

I wouldn't recommend staying next to the river as rainy season is approaching...... :) and any of the places built in the last few years by the BKKers are just cursed.... :D

  3. I would try Denchai - not cheap by any means but they would probably have what you are looking for.

Looks like a good place to start. I am looking at their website right now and the directions are in thai. Where exactly are they? (relative directions please, I dont know street names)

  4. I just did this the other day and can report success as well

    amoung thing I had

    copies (no orginals)

    wife Id/passport

    kids/birth certificate/passport

    chanot/car reg/ house book

copy my bankbook with 100k quickly transferred in

letter from wife stating that if they dont give me a 1 year visa, then she cant get any more money out of me :)

during the quick review the person at the window was particular interested in my 3 month "single" non-o from laos and they assumed that I wanted a 3 month again as well. I quickly corrected her that I would prefer a 'Multiple" and paid the 550RM and off we go.

I stayed at the Citrus hotels visa run special. 298RM for 2 nights including airport pickup. The place was slightly shady, but nothing to complain about and had stable wifi in the room.

  5. Related funny story

a relatives house was broken into last month in a new moo-ban

well a month later somehow they caught the thief(trying to carry some japanese guys safe out at 3am)

and the police had 'recovered' my relatives laptop and camera (but gold was gone of course)

so they called her to come down to the station. When she got to the station the police told her that they actually didnt have the camera and laptop, cause the theif had already sold it to a pawnshop down the road

so the police then took her to a shady little pawnshop AROUND THE CORNER from the police station where she was forced to buy back her laptop and camera (at deep discount prices of course)

    nice racket...... :)

  6. My policy now when asked for money is to "loan' it with the agreement that if not paid before the end of month, interest will start and no more loans to anyone until all debts are paid in full.

    ohh... falang ki-neow falng jai-damnmmmmm...

    but really. ....

  7. I found everything overpriced and the food situation was not that great.

It's a tourist town and the prices are a little inflated, but not even remotely as much as they are in some places in the south.

There are indeed a number of mediocre places, but the food situation is not that bad if you know where to go.

Amido's pizza place makes the best pizzas I have had in Thailand. P' Bia's place near the traffic lights in the middle of town serves very decent standard Thai food as well.

Amidos pizza is average.... however his steak and lamb chops is equivalent to a fancy french restaurant and the best I have ever had in asia

the best pizza (or calazone/faggotini) IMHO is Christinas on the front side of the river

Nong beers by the traffic light used to be the best thai food in town, but since they got so popular with the BKK aliens, they stopped cooking and just slop out pre-made cafeteria trays full of MSG. :)

now the two best places for thai food IMHO are Charlie and Leks which is in between the Other traffic light and the po-lice station and

some no name local resturant in a big dumpy 3 story shop house on the left about 1/3 km out of town on the way to the airport.

if you want to spend a little more, ban benjarong near to bebop is fancy and expensive and tasty thai food

  8. I am a bit confused. Can someone help me with all the different Fuel Choices at my local gas Station

I have 3 vehicles and I am no longer sure what to put in....

#1 - Volvo gas run - I want whatever is best for the car

    #2 125cc Sonic

    #3 Newish Honda Wave i

So there is 91 gas, then 95? and then this new Gashol?

can somebody tell me what I want to put in what and why?
