Shiraz on Thape Rd.

I looked at a few newly renovated units in Gale Thong that meet your description
they should still be in the TV classified. Dont worry about the price. Nobody is renting so you can get %xx off whatever is listed in the ad once you see the place.

So, I guess I could be facing charges of tax evasion. My guesstimate is that the missing tax amounts to maybe 50-80K baht.
Just out of curiosity, who exactly told you this information?
meaning that...
I dont know anything about your situation or whoever told you this information, but based on my experiences in thailand there is most likely more than a %50 chance that the person that told you this information is fudging it a little to get a payout from you.
just a thought.
these things have been known to happen...

Slightly offtopic question
IF you open an account at the HSBC or Standard Chartered in the BKK branch, can you have a strings free - foreign currency USD account like in HK or sing. Meaning they arent charging you 'special' fees to move USD in and out?
or so I have to go to a civilized country to get that?:

My wife and I are thinking about a trip up north for a week or so and thought we would stop off in Pai for a nite or two. Can anyone recommend a mid-range place to stay?
Pairidice or next door, Sundon Doi are on hills over looking the valley and very nice. go over the bridge and hang a left towards vieng noir and you will see both on your right.
I wouldn't recommend staying next to the river as rainy season is approaching...... and any of the places built in the last few years by the BKKers are just cursed....

3. A promise to assist in recovery of stolen jewellery?
Saudi Arabia NOT EQUAL Dubai
two very different places.
its like saying that Japan and Thailand are in cahoots because they are both Buddhist countries

And try to think outside your particular box. What Would Happen If They Brought Him Back, anyways?
yeah that would be a fuc_king disaster wouldn't it?
things are best as they are now.
-
I would try Denchai - not cheap by any means but they would probably have what you are looking for.
Looks like a good place to start. I am looking at their website right now and the directions are in thai. Where exactly are they? (relative directions please, I dont know street names)

I need to find some qualityish lighting equipment for video presentations and possibiliy a green screen

I just did this the other day and can report success as well
amoung thing I had
copies (no orginals)
wife Id/passport
kids/birth certificate/passport
chanot/car reg/ house book
copy my bankbook with 100k quickly transferred in
letter from wife stating that if they dont give me a 1 year visa, then she cant get any more money out of me
during the quick review the person at the window was particular interested in my 3 month "single" non-o from laos and they assumed that I wanted a 3 month again as well. I quickly corrected her that I would prefer a 'Multiple" and paid the 550RM and off we go.
I stayed at the Citrus hotels visa run special. 298RM for 2 nights including airport pickup. The place was slightly shady, but nothing to complain about and had stable wifi in the room.

Related funny story
a relatives house was broken into last month in a new moo-ban
well a month later somehow they caught the thief(trying to carry some japanese guys safe out at 3am)
and the police had 'recovered' my relatives laptop and camera (but gold was gone of course)
so they called her to come down to the station. When she got to the station the police told her that they actually didnt have the camera and laptop, cause the theif had already sold it to a pawnshop down the road
so the police then took her to a shady little pawnshop AROUND THE CORNER from the police station where she was forced to buy back her laptop and camera (at deep discount prices of course)
nice racket......

My policy now when asked for money is to "loan' it with the agreement that if not paid before the end of month, interest will start and no more loans to anyone until all debts are paid in full.
ohh... falang ki-neow falng jai-damnmmmmm...
but really. ....

Get into goverment
start your own business on the side and exploit your position to award yourself contracts.
in this land you are a master or a slave. (hint: slaves get paid a monthly wage that matters to them)

Already discussed here:

Thanks for the link. I just went through the post and am more confused than ever
It is a 94 Volvo, cost of fuel is not important, I just want whatever will make the car the happiest and last the longest.
Any recommendations?

I met some people that have a 'detox' resort in south thailand and they laugh all the way to the bank, because by putting the name 'detox' on their resort they can get away with charging 5x for the rooms, not feeding the customers (fasting) and giving them a enema bag to do the job themselves
seems like a great racket/

I found everything overpriced and the food situation was not that great.
It's a tourist town and the prices are a little inflated, but not even remotely as much as they are in some places in the south.
There are indeed a number of mediocre places, but the food situation is not that bad if you know where to go.
Amido's pizza place makes the best pizzas I have had in Thailand. P' Bia's place near the traffic lights in the middle of town serves very decent standard Thai food as well.
Amidos pizza is average.... however his steak and lamb chops is equivalent to a fancy french restaurant and the best I have ever had in asia
the best pizza (or calazone/faggotini) IMHO is Christinas on the front side of the river
Nong beers by the traffic light used to be the best thai food in town, but since they got so popular with the BKK aliens, they stopped cooking and just slop out pre-made cafeteria trays full of MSG.
now the two best places for thai food IMHO are Charlie and Leks which is in between the Other traffic light and the po-lice station and
some no name local resturant in a big dumpy 3 story shop house on the left about 1/3 km out of town on the way to the airport.
if you want to spend a little more, ban benjarong near to bebop is fancy and expensive and tasty thai food
-
For the cheapest in CM try the indian at K+K travel on Thape Rd right next to Thape INN
his prices are ALways the lowest.
-
its actually nice right now kinda like in the "old days"
all the BKK aliens have gone back to their country and looks again like a sleepy little backpacker town. its a good time to visit.

Compared to arriving at Manila, it's a dream.
Manilla aint bad these days. they keep all the regular taxis out of arrivals. Walk right out across the road to the pre-paid stand, overpay slightly and to your hotel with no hassles

Internet Marketer.
to put up a bunch of websites to shuffle traffic to other websites and money arrives in the bank.
its all in the air.... and pays better than any other profession.
Unfortunately only 1 in 1000 succeed and you need to figure out the formula yourself.

Update On The Pizza Situation In Pai
in Chiang Mai
Posted
I know somethings have shuffled around Christinas so I cannot vouch for the quality last year.
but as of this year, it is best pizza hands down in pai.
Amidos is good for his steak and lamb feasts, but not the pizza.
