Pattaya - that the authorities like to bill as a family friendly resort - has some of the worst pavements in Thailand if frequent social media posts are to be believed.
The above statement is correct, as mentioned in many of the comments above how the powers that be can say this is a "World Class Family Resort" they must be using the drugs they keep confiscating; where there are pavements most are in a really poor condition or have tree stumps or sign posts stuck in the middle of the pavement with absolutely no forethought regarding people being able to use the pavement correctly. Alternatively, tables placed outside shops also on 2nd road ticket booths and passengers for mini buses blocking the whole of the pavement. Having said all this there are way too many roads & soi's without any pavements what so ever and extremely dangerous to navigate on foot especially for a family with pushchairs etc. Family Friendly Resort - NO!!!!!!

Why did she not do more for the farmers when she was in a position to do so, e.g. drill wells for irrigation or construct additional water catchment areas..??

learn some skills which would help them do a decent job like customer service, broaden their knowledge of the products they're trying to sell, etc.,
Regarding the above comment to which I agree in principle, the government should provide training programs like Government rehabilitation schools that teach individuals that have now woken up to the fact that without adequate training or education life is going to be forever difficult. In the UK these type of schools were introduced and were successful in educating the available work force (the one who want to work and get ahead) thereby giving them an incentive to better themselves and their prospects.

Well we all know who to thank for this one, and unfortunately the Chinese will not care one little bit.

“Some details of the final deal were unclear, the officials said, but an early draft, seen by US officials, would allow China to use the base for 30 years, with automatic renewals every 10 years after that. China would be able to post military personnel, store weapons and berth warships, according to the draft,” it added.
Once again Thailand has been warned about China's ultimate intentions, look around the world to see what they have already inflicted on unprepared countries, many in Africa, Sri-Lanka, to name but a couple - Thailand wake up before it's too late..!!!

Would it help an urgent meeting?
What would help is NOT the habit to lower the water levels in a reservoir before the rainy season starts. I saw it happening near Lampang. Perhaps they were afraid for the coming rainy season and maybe it's a regular procedure for all water reservoirs?
Change your traditional habits!
Would it also help to enlarge all current catchment areas in preparation for the next drought..???

even earning in baht things are getting damn expensive and the locals are suffering much more than us expats
The above is correct, the government on one hand said that the currency was at the right level then turned around and said industry could not afford to increase the minimum basic wage - make your minds up ..!!

But I do wonder when they are planning to do the same to all the Thai males that constantly mirror the exact behaviour this latest crackdown has targetted, also all the Thai renters that do not check licences. I do hope we can see that happening soon.
I agree with what has been posted above and must also say that I would be very surprised if the people renting these motorcycles had adapted the silencers for the bikes this must have therefore been modifications made by the owners of the bikes. I also agree with the comment regarding locals, on Pattaya Road 3 the noise that some bikes make especially early morning is ridiculous and the police do nothing, plus they Thai's ride 3+ on one motorbike and no helmets between them. This type of dual standards has to stop, no wonder the tourist numbers are down..!!
