  1. Alternative is retirement to the Philippines... OR get a new (Thai) GF once settled in Thailand...
  2. First: Luckily, Switzerland is not member of the EU, but only the Schengen zone... Second: Give foreigners in Thailand the same rights to stay and work, as the EU gives to Thai people, specially for married people, get rid of the ridiculous requirements for TM30, 90d reporting and so on, and we can talk about Visa free travel
  3. Bangkok, Krabi, Khon Khaen, Chiang Mai, Pattaya
  4. @Sophon, @DrJack54: The income letter from the Swiss Embassy in Thailand is actually called a "Certificate" where the Swiss Embassy certifies the monthly pension amount. And then there is a sentence on the document: "This certificate is issued for the Royal Thai Immigration Bureau for the renewal of the permit to stay".
  5. Thank you. I was not aware that I need to bring my wife, but that is no problem. Nothing in our marriage has changed, we only want to make the annual process more straightforward.
  6. Vegans eat the food of my cows... they should be put in prison for animal cruelty and be given rice and water only
  7. As per title, I plan to change from extension based on Thai family to extension based on retirement, just because it is so much more easy - and I have a pension confirmation ("certificate") from my government for the monthly amount, so no more bank visits and letters, no more Amphoe visits for Kor Ror 2, no more pictures at home, no more witness, no more home visits, no more everything two copies... 1) Do I need some special form for changing the type of extension, something like the TM86 change of Visa, or do I just show up with the necessary docs and that should be it? Talking about Jomtien in my case. 2) Do I have to apply within the same time frame (30 days before the old extension expires), or can I go at almost any time, as it is like a "new" extension? Thanks for your know how
  8. Tried many times to silence a Thai lady, and failed miserably every time
  9. I had the same problem with a leak under the house and no plumbing plans... no chance in hell finding it. I ended up replumbing the whole house, now all pipes go around the house directly into showers /kitchen, and at the same time I had stop valves installed for every room and appliance. Luckily, I could find the same tiles for all rooms, so I didn't have to retile any of the rooms.
  10. You are right.. real democracy is also unknown to the Americans...
  11. There us a clear difference between English (USA) and English (UK), just check your spell checkers
  12. And one more... let's ban the OP again for trying to drag Sheryl into his conspiracy theories... ????
  13. I had a home visit from Jomtien immigration last October, and it was the 7th such annual visit... so will see what happens enxt
  14. Yes, very sad indeed, lot of rice fields dying...
  15. The 'mechanic' mentioned would have checked the computer with you to ensure that it is fully operational. I personally have sales people open and unpack every item with a plug (above 2000 Baht value) to check that it works before I take it out of the store.
  16. Mine was leaking a while ago, all it needed was s new O ring, 500 Baht all in all, check that first
  17. How much you pay per entry?
  18. Please get a full teacher's education in your home country, Thai children deserve better than "aspiring unlicensed" - I.e. dumb with no idea about the what and how of a curriculum - foreigners, already plenty of them around.
  19. No idea, best to call them, they speak perfect Thai, English, German
  20. German Dental, Thappraya road
  21. 1. Yes, they are reducing them, ATM management is very expensive, but still plenty available. 2. Most people don't use cash anymore, phone payments even on small food carts is much easier for both parties involved. 3. You can use all other bank's ATMs, 5 withdrawals per month are free Sounds like a nothingburger to me
  22. Very understandable that she needed to drive, as she could not walk anymore... she should sue the city for placing that power pole in her way
